Last Ten Books I’ve added to my TBR

Last Ten Books I’ve added to my TBR

TTT

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is: Ten Books I’ve Added To My TBR List Lately

I always forget to add books to be ‘to read’ shelf on Goodreads, even some of my most anticipated books aren’t on there. Most of the time I know what I want to read, the books that I normally add to the list are ones that I have never heard of before, that have just caught my eye. The thing is I don’t even go back on it to reference – anyway, here at the last ten books, I’ve added to my tbr.

tbr-1

Caraval by Stephanie Garber: The sound of this book intrigues me from the get go. It sounds like the magic is going to sweep me up and take me on a journey.

Asking for It by Louise O’Neill: Books that explore that is happening right now, how women/girls are treated always catches my attention. I feel like Asking for it will be raw, real and hard to read.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab: I have yet to read anything by Victoria Schwab, but I have heard next to nothing bad, about her books. I will get to it someday. Where should I start?

tbr-2

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan: I read You Know Me Well earlier this year and saw David during the Melbourne Writers Festival and damn he was good. I just want to read everything by him now.

Nova by Rebecca Yarros: Here is another one of those that I forget to add books I am looking forward to. I have loved Rebecca Yarros’ books in the past and Nova is book 2 in her new series. It’s coming out soon…I hope. (This is the cover for the first book since Nova’s cover hasn’t been released)

Lucky in Love by Kasie West: It’s Kasie West do I need to say more? Her books and heartbreaking and adorable and always what I need.

tbr-3

Now I Rise by Kiersten White: I loved And I Darken earlier this year and I cannot wait for more. The world is intriguing and I want to know what is going to happen on Lada and Radu’s journey.

Cold Summer by Gwen Cole: I hadn’t heard about this until I saw it pop up on my Goodreads feed a couple of weeks ago. It’s a mix of science-fiction and history partly set in World War 2 – yes, please.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas: I loved when I read The Darkest Corners by Kara a while ago. Gosh, it messed with me, but I have a feeling that this is going to be 10 times as worse. I need it.

tbr-4

Avenged by Amy Tintera: When I read Ruined at the stat of the year, I knew that this series will be for me and with that ending I need Book 2 – now.

Great list! I can definitely recommend Asking For It. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read! However, I don’t think I could ever reread it because it’s such a tough read.

I loved And I Darken, it’s such a rich picture of Lada and Radu’s lives. I’m really looking forward to Now I Rise too, I think the plot is really going to ratchet up in this one. Not to mention that cover is lovely!

Asking for It is on my list this week too. David Levithan is one of my favorite authors! He is amazing in person. He does the best readings. Two Boys Kissing was good!

I’m up for any of Kasie West’s contemporary novels. It’s not usually my choice of genre but I adore hers. I haven’t finished And I Darken, but from what I’ve read I’m sure I’ll want the second book next year. V. E. Schwab is really talented. This Savage Song is on my TBR list too partially because it sounds interest and partially because everyone seemed to flip out over how good it is.

I loved ADSOM and The Archived by Schwab but I wasn’t very charmed by This Savage Song so I personally wouldn’t suggest someone starting there. Caraval was a good read overall. 🙂

I want to read so many of these but mostly just Caraval because there is so much buzz and hype going on about this book!

Asking for It sounds amazing and it has been on my tbr for a while. I love David Levithan’s writing, but I never actually read Two Boys Kissing so I think I’m adding it on my tbr too. Great list!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.
