Books I Really Liked But Can’t Remember Much About

Books I Really Liked But Can’t Remember Much About

January 23, 2018 Posted by angelreads Features, Top Ten Tuesday 7 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is Books I Really Liked But Can’t Remember Much About.

This week was so much fun! I’ve read a lot of books over the past few years. And for the most part, I remember the book. But there are times where I know I loved the book, but can’t remember much that happened throughout the book.

There have been times when I pick up and book and halfway through remember that I already read it and enjoyed it. Or other times when I am reading a new book in a series and have to go back and refresh. So today I thought I would share some of the books that I liked, but can’t remember much about.

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake: This was a 4.5 Star read for me back in 2014. I know I adored and fell in love with the characters and the world. But apart from major plot points. I don’t remember much about the book and duo at all.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles: One of the first contemporary bad boys that I read and loved. 2014 was when I started to read more YA contemporary and I loved trying so many things out – probably is now, I can’t remember much about the books that I read.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: One of the first dystopian novels that I read and again like the other books today – feel in love. I think that if I read it again, I would know what was happen and things would seem familiar. But I couldn’t tell you what happened at the top of my head.

Angelfall by Susan Ee: One of the many Angel books I read when they started to get really big. I know that I loved it because of how different the Angel’s were, I remember it being dark and really interesting. I never finished the series, so I might do a re-read this year.

These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly: When I finished this one I remember really falling in love with the world. It’s a historical fiction Esq book and I love that sort of thing. It was full of crime and mystery. But I don’t know what exactly.

Gambit by C.L. Denault: I picked this book up out of nowhere, I was offered it for review by the author. I don’t remember what happened in the book. All I know was that it was different and I really enjoy the world that was created.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black: I recently just read The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and loved it! But now I can’t remember what I happened in the book. I think I remember the way that the world work, but I don’t know the plot. One thing I did remember was the quotes before each chapter that I loved!

And that is it for that post! What are some of the books that you loved, but can’t remember what happened? Do we share any that’s the same? Let’s Chat!

I could have included Anna Dressed in Blood on my list too! But it’s been a while since I read it – actually it’s pre-Goodreads for me – and I only looked at Goodreads.

I haven’t read any of these but they look quite interesting. I guess we have limited brain storage to remember all the bookish information 😛 And there are even more books to read 🙁

I hope you get to re-read a few of them soon 😛

I read “Angelfall” a long time ago, too, and can’t remember much of this series! I remember liking “World After” much more than the first book though. And I didn’t get to “End of Days” – I see a re-read in my future!

I’ve heard lots of good things about Perfect Chemistry. I haven’t heard of These Shallow Graves, but you make it sound really interesting.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
