Books I Have Out From The Library

Books I Have Out From The Library

May 17, 2020 Posted by angelreads Book Hauls, Discussions 2 Comments

Today I thought I would share the books that I currently have on loan from my local library. I go through phases of how I use my library. Sometimes I’m there every week, sometimes I can go months without going. But with everything that has been happening, I’ve been using my libraries digital catalogue a lot more.

I love getting ebooks from a library as it allows me to read a book that I’m not certain about, especially if the book is really expensive here. Which I’ve found has been happening a lot more recently. I’ve also been able to request ebooks in – and that has been fantastic. Anyway here we go, like always these are in no order.

Physical Loans

Rock Me Two Times (Rock Band #1) by Dawn Ryder: I really don’t know much about this one, but I was trying to find some romances at my library and this one caught my eye. It sounds interesting and music romances always intrigue me. I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. But I hope to get to it soon.

You Must Be Layla by Yassmin Abdel-Magied: This has been on my to-read list for some time now and when I found in my library I had to grab it. I just haven’t picked it up yet, but I think I want to very soon.

Making Friends with Alice Dyson by Poppy Nwosu: I’ve spoken about this one a few times in the last couple of months and that is because I really did love it. It’s a sweet story that looks at friendships, the most adorable romance, and the strength of opening up. You can check out my full review as well.

As Happy as Here by Jane Godwin: Again this is another one that has been something that I would like to read for a while. It sounds like something that I can connect, but it also sounds like it’s an adventure. I’m really excited to pick this one up.

The Man in the Water by David Burton: This is another #LoveOzYA that has been on my TBR for a while. I’ve really enjoyed YA thriller/crime books and it’s always something that I’m looking to recommend. So this caught my eye from the start. I can’t wait to start it.

Digital Loans

Bonds of Brass (The Bloodright Trilogy #1) by Emily Skrutskie: This one has been on my TBR for a little while now. I’m not a massive science fiction reader. But this one caught my eye right away. It sounds fantastic and I’m really intrigued to see where the story goes. I haven’t heard too much about it, so I would like to see how I feel.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: This is another one that I have read – and I loved it. It’s my favourite book so far this year. I cannot stop talking about it. I just love everything about it. My review will be up later next week. But just know, you should read it.

House of Dragons (House of Dragons #1) by Jessica Cluess: Another one that has caught my eye recently. I don’t know too much about it, expect the synopsis but I would really like to find out. I’ve been hearing mix things about this one, so I’m interested to see where I stand.

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller: The synopsis of this one is what first caught my eye. I’ve been really feeling fantasy again recently. And this one seems to be something that I would love.  Again some people are loving and some aren’t. And I like books that that.

And those are the books that I currently have out from the library! Have you read any of these? What did you think? Are you planning on reading any of these? Do you have anything on loan from the library? Let’s Chat!

So absolutely thrilled to see so many #loveozya titles on your list Angel, I’ve been finding Australian reads really comforting lately as well. The Man in The Water is one I’ve loved recently as well, it’s such an incredible read and the mystery kept me up long into the early hours of the morning. Lots of great reading there, hopefully you find a few new favourites!

Also, love the new look! Super cute!

I’ve checked out tons of audiobooks from my library! I miss being able to go in and actually pick up a physical copy though. I still need to read The Shadows Between Us! I’ll probably end up listening to it on Scribd to be honest.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
