Book Events/Festivals I’d Love to Go to Someday

Book Events/Festivals I’d Love to Go to Someday

July 21, 2020 Posted by angelreads Features, Top Ten Tuesday 15 Comments

This week I’m sharing Book Events/Festivals I’d Love to Go to Someday. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

At the moment this is such a hard post to write. We have no idea when everything is going to go back to normal. I can’t even leave my state at the moment let alone the country. I was supposed to be going to Disney World in September and that isn’t happening. But this post has also been fun because I get to share events and festivals that I can’t wait to go to when the world is slightly back to normal.

I’ve ever been to bookish events and festivals in Australia. While most of them have been Melbourne. I have travel a few times to go to other events.

BookExpo: It has been my dream for years to go to BEA. I think it’s a lot of bloggers dream to go there. And since I’ve become a bookseller, it’s something that I want to do even more. It sounds like it’s going to be crazy and fun. And an amazing experience. I know I will get there once day, but I also know I will need to bring another 2 suitcases just for books. And that sounds exciting. I want to go to panels and see and meet all of these amazing authors. It will be such an incredible experience.

BookCon: I can’t go to BEA and not go to BookCon. While this seems like it’s going to be 10x busier. I just want to do it once. But I think I will be ready for it. Like BEA, I can’t wait to see all the panels and meet all the authors. We don’t get many international authors here in Australia. We only get them from time to time and I would most likely pass out from how many that I’m seeing.

YallFest/YallWest: This is another one that I really do want to go to. But then I can’t even choose which one out of the two. I wish they were closer together so I could go to both. But I guess it will depend on who is going to which that might help me pick.

Cassandra Clare: I want to go to anything that I will get to meet Cassandra Clare in. She has come to Australia twice, that I know of. The first time I had only just started reading her books and I wasn’t really on social media. The second time, she didn’t come to my state and it was too had at that time for me to see her.

YALC: You should all know by now, how much I love the UK and I would love to go to any bookish events there, but YALC is high on my list. Again it features YA authors from around the world and that just sounds like so much fun.

Any book festival: I love going to book festivals. And there so happens to be in the place that I’m going then there is no doubt I will be there. They are fun and interesting and I want to go more around the world. Maybe I can just do it for one year and go to as many as possible.

Book Bonanza Event: I really want to start going to more romance bookish events and this one is high on my list. It has so many romance authors I can’t even begin to tell you. I just look at the lists each year and stare. There is so many and they write in so many different genres of romance and it just seems like it would be fantastic.

And that is it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! What are some bookish events and festival that you would like to go to when this is all over? What have you been too? Let’s Chat!

Hi There is going to be a readers and writers festival in the Moreton Bay region near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia at the end of June, beginning of July next year. Let’s hope things are as normal as possible next year so people can attend festivals again.

Our library has Mountain of Authors (free) and then there’s the Colorado Teen Literature Conference that is fairly inexpensive to attend. It’s just so expensive to go to these! One of the good things about coronavirus was that YALLWEST was virtual this year. It was a lot of fun!

Great list! YALC made my list this week, too, but I think BEA and BookCon would be a lot of fun to go to. I’m sorry your trip to Disney World isn’t happening this year–I hope you get to go soon, when everything’s a bit safer!

I went to one of Cassandra Clare’s events here in Melbourne a few years ago. It was lots of fun.

I love YALC, was so sad that it was cancelled this year (though obviously I understand)! Hopefully everything will be okay for next year, it’s one of my favourite weekends of the year 🙂

I had the same reaction to this week’s prompt. I can only hope we have a vaccine soon and this pandemic becomes a memory.

I think BEA and BookCon are on a lot of book bloggers’ bucket list. I had the chance to go last year, but the logistics got a little too complicated and I didn’t end up going. Bummer. Maybe another year.

    Happy TTT!

I’ve wanted to go to YALC for a long time now since it’s usually the only book event near me, even though”near” means four hours away. And I would love to go to BookCon too, but the thought of how busy it would be makes me a little hesitant about it.

Ooh, all of these events would be totally dreamy! I see why you’d want to go. I hope someday you do and that each event is as magical as you’d hope!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
