Book Tag | Finished the Book

Today I thought I would have some fun and do another book tag. Today it’s the Finished The Book book tag. This tag was created by Headless Books. I wasn’t tagged by anyone but thought that this would a great tag to do.

1) Do you keep a list of the books you have read?

I normally just keep track on Goodreads. I’ve tried to use other methods, but I read a lot of books and it just got too much work. I want to attempt to do it again next year, but we will see. The other ways that I have tried are through spreadsheets and bullet journaling.

2) If you record stats, what stats do you record?

While I don’t always record stats. I love looking at the ones that Goodreads provide. There are two of them that I enjoy. First, the end of year stats is so fun to look at. From my longest read to my shortest and everything in between. The other one I like is these stats that they do. It’s just so fun to look at.

3) Do you give star ratings for books and if so, what do you rate books out of and how do you come about this score?

I normally give my ratings out of 5. It’s just easier in regards to Goodreads and other sites that use ratings. In saying that I do give half ratings. For the most part, a 3 start is a pretty good rating for me. It means I enjoyed the book, it has some things that I didn’t like. But overall I had a good read. Mu current average rating on Goodreads is 3.64.

4) Do you review books?

Yes! I’m attempting to write at least a few sentences for every book I read, but like I said I read a lot. Other than that you can find my reviews here on Angel Reads or over on my Goodreads

5) Where do you put your finished books?

I just bought new bookshelves so I did a massive rearrangement of my books recently. I currently have all my finished books on my shelves in the family room, outside my bedroom. It has turned into a makeshift library though and has been that way for several years. I have most of my unread books currently in my bedroom, either on my shelves or in my TBR cart.

6) How do you pick your next book?

I’m normally read by mood. I make a little tbr for the month and I reading them when I’m in the mood. I’ve been that way for a while. I find that a fixed TBR is hard for me to stick too and it just doesn’t happen.

I do plan out my review book reads, but like with my other tbr, it’s normally just a wide time frame. I don’t put too much pressure on myself to read books by a certain time.

7) Do you have any other rituals for when you have finished a book?

It depends on the book. If it’s a pleasure read, I normally just mark it as finished on Goodreads and rate it. Sometimes I’ll write a couple of sentences.

If it’s a review book, I normally try and get a couple of thoughts down. Especially if they are pressing thoughts. None of it really makes sense, but it helps me write my review later on.
