Current Auto-Buy Authors

Current Auto-Buy Authors

November 9, 2020 Posted by angelreads Discussions, Recommendations 1 Comment

Today I’m sharing some of my current auto-buy authors. These are the authors that I would buy books from without knowing too much about the book itself. I go through many phases of reading and this changes the author that become auto-buy to me. There are some authors that have stayed on this list for years now, but as my reading habits have changed so have the authors on this list.

So today I’m sharing the authors that are currently on my auto-buy list. There’s a mix of YA and romance authors here, which pretty much sums up my readings habits at the moment. Like always these are in no order.

Cassandra Clare: There should be no surprise that Cassie is on this list. She has been an auto-buy author for me ever since I started reading her books. I just love them all. They have everything that I want in them and what I look for especially in a young adult fantasy. Her latest series has by far been some of my favourite things that she has written and I cannot wait for Chain of Iron. She is also one of the only authors that I would by multiple of the same book in different editions.

Rebecca Yarros: Has been a romance author that I have been reading to years now. She is one of the first that I really fell in love with and have adored everything that I have picked up from her. I think my favourite has to be The Last Letter – which will make you sob. But I also enjoyed her latest release Muses & Melodies (Hush Note, #3).

Sarina Bowen: I think there is one of two books that I haven’t read from Sarina as of yet. And that isn’t for any other reasons, that I haven’t had time really. I have enjoyed most of Sarina Bowen’s books and each time another one is announced I’m excited to pick them up.

Elizabeth Acevedo: I’ve read all three of Elizabeth Acevedo’s YA books this year and fell in love with them all, they were all 4-5 stars for me and I would pick any of her other books up without a second thought. I adore her writing, her voice and her characters. They are honest and real and everything that I love especially in contemporary YA.

Sabrina Jeffries: Sabrina has come to be one of my favourite historical romance authors. I love everything from her characters to the romances to the stories that she writes. She has easily become an author that I will buy a book from without second-guessing or even knowing much about it.

Ellie Marney: Ellie is another author that I don’t even have to know what the book is about before I buy it. She is one of my favourite #LoveOzYA authors and is one that I’m always recommending to others hands down.

Casey McQuiston: I’m putting Casey on this list, but I’ve only read one of her books, but there is no doubt that I will love anything that she writes. I’m so excited for One Last Stop.

And that’s it! Those are some of the authors that are currently on my auto-buy list! Do we share any that are the same? Who are some of yours? Let’s Chat!

Ellie is probably the only author from your list who is also mine. I used to be the same with Sarina but her last few books haven’t interested me all that much.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
