Books That Have Been on My TBR the Longest

Books That Have Been on My TBR the Longest

February 9, 2023 Posted by angelreads TBR 2 Comments

I thought I would have a little fun today and share the books that have been on my Goodreads tbr the longest. If you didn’t know already I don’t only use my Goodreads tbr for books that I own but in general to keep track of books that I am excited about and want to read. I do that so I actually remember the book. Otherwise, I will forget so much about it.

So today I am taking us back in time and sharing 10 books that have been on my Goodreads tbr the longest. Some I own, some I don’t. Some I don’t even know when I will read. A lot of the books that have been there the longest are young adult books. And I am just reading it that much these days. But let’s get into it.

The Diviners (The Diviners #1) by Libba Bray: Okay let me start with, I have tried. I have tried to read this one twice now and I just couldn’t get into it. I’m not sure why, it has so much that I love in the book. But every time I have tried, I couldn’t get over 50 pages.

In Honor by Jessi Kirby: I don’t own this one, but I know why. It was out in hardback when I first found it, and at the time I could not afford it at all! I was under 18, not working etc. Plus I don’t think it had a publisher here in Australia so it just didn’t happen. Maybe I should try it now.

Spark (Spark #1) by Rachael Craw: I met Rachael Craw a few years ago, so I got the first book in the series. It sounds like my jam. Especially when I was reading YA a lot. Maybe I will get to it soon,

Thicker Than Water by Brigid Kemmerer: This is one I don’t know how I haven’t read yet. I have adored all of Brigid Kemmerer’s books, especially her contemporaries. I want to love this, I want to read it. And I will, soon.

In the Dark, In the Woods by Eliza Wass: This book caught my eye right away. I don’t read a lot of thriller/mystery but this one sounded fantastic. I know it took me a while to get it. And then I never picked it up.

The Way to Game the Walk of Shame by Jenn P. Nguyen: I added this to my tbr when I was going through my contemporary young adult phase. It sounded brilliant and it still does and is what I was looking for. I wanted angst, romance and everything in between.

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia: This is another one that I added to my list when I was reading a heap of a contemporary young adult. It was what I was looking for, but again I could not afford the hardback so I was waiting for the paperback to come out and just never got back to it.

Wires and Nerve (Wires and Nerve #1) by Marissa Meyer, Douglas Holgate (Illustrator)  and Stephen Gilpin (Illustrator): I absolutely adore the Lunar Chronicles series and this has been on my list for ages. I still haven’t managed to grab a physical copy but I imagine when I do, I will get to it.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys: So Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys is one of my favourite books of all time. So obviously I needed to add more of her books to my tbr. I just have not gotten to them yet. But this one. I need and want.

Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn: I didn’t know too much about this one when I added it to my tbr. It sounded interview and was something that caught my eye from the start. I’m not too sure if it’s going to be something that I love now, but I still want to give it a go when the time comes.

And there we go. Those are some of the books that have been on my Goodreads TBR the longest. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Which should I

I haven’t read any of these, so I can’t help you decide which to read first. Sorry! But I do hope you enjoy them when you get the opportunity to read them.

I’ve read two of these. The Way to Game the Walk of Shame was really good. I read her second book as well. I also read Firsts. It sounds like it would something fun, but I found it to be depressing. There were a lot of tough issues that made it hard to read.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
