My Favourite Book Covers That Include Nature | TTT

My Favourite Book Covers That Include Nature | TTT

May 11, 2021

This week I’m sharing the books covers that I love that feature nature. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I thought it would be a little fun to share the book covers that have nature on them that I love. Sometimes it’s the colours that get me, or simply the way that it looks. There is a range of books here, from young adult to fantasy and more. Some of these books I’ve read, and there are some that I haven’t. Anyway enough chatting, here we go. Like always these are in no order.

A Touch of Darkness (Hades & Persephone #1) by Scarlett St. Clair | Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1) by Cassandra Clare | The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune – Review | Manhattan (Becker Brothers #3) by Kandi Steiner – Review

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig – Review | A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Cursebreakers #1) by Brigid Kemmerer | Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand – Review | A Room Made of Leaves by Kate Grenville

Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett | Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

And there we go. Those are some of my favourite covers that feature nature. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What are some of your favourite covers with nature? Let’s Chat!

I Did Really Good This Month | April Haul

I Did Really Good This Month | April Haul

May 10, 2021

I actually had a really good reading month in April. I’m glad because I didn’t read a whole love in April, you can check out my wrap up for more. It was a great balance. I did by a few though, some were new releases, some ones I’ve been wanting for a while and others I got on a whim. I did get a few ebooks, but overall it wasn’t bad. Now let’s get into it.

The Queen of Nothing (The Folk of the Air #3) by Holly Black | A Lady’s Formula for Love (The Secret Scientists of London #1) by Elizabeth Everett | Slippery Creatures (The Will Darling Adventures #1) by K.J. Charles | The Gaps by Leanne Hall

Whiteout (Survival Instincts #1) by Adriana Anders | Her Night with the Duke (Clandestine Affairs #1) by Diana Quincy | Keeping You Away (Tyler & Gemma #1) by Kennedy Fox | Bombshells (Brooklyn Bruisers #8) by Sarina Bowen

Shooting for the Stars (Gravity #3) by Sarina Bowen | Last Will and Testament (Radleigh University #1) by Dahlia Adler

And there we go. Those are the books that I bought in April 2021. I like that it was a mix of old and new, romance and young adult. What did you get this month? Have you read any of the books I got? Let’s Chat!

A Very Slow Reading Month | April Wrap Up

A Very Slow Reading Month | April Wrap Up

May 8, 2021

April was a pretty slow reading month for me. There have been a few changes in my life again and I’ve spent a lot of it trying to take it all in. One of those changes is now I manage a bookstore, it’s with the same company I’ve been working with for nearly 5 years, but now I have my own store – and gosh does it make me happy. Because of this, my reading was slow in April.

I only managed to read 13 books last month – and while that may be a lot for some of you, it’s on my lower end of what I can read in a month. I’ve already been doing so well this month, so I have a feeling May will be different. In April I read a mix of fantasy, romance and a YA. So I feel pretty good with the range I read. I also enjoyed most of the books that I did read. Enough of this – let’s go!

A Court of Thorns and Roses Series #1-4 by Sarah J. Maas: I never thought I would jump back into this world and I did it this month. I’m now all up to date with this series. And while I didn’t love it, I can’t wait to find out what happens next. You can check out my whole discussion on my experience of reading this series after I swore I never would.

School For Heiresses #4-#6 by Sabrina Jeffries: I finished this series in April, and I had a great time. I’m slowly making my way through Sabrina Jeffries backlist and I love it. I think book 4 was my favourite out of the last few, but I still enjoyed the rest.

Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo: After reading the Shadow and Bone series last month, I wanted to do a re-read of Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom before I jump into King of Scars. I forgot just how much I love this duo. I love the characters, the world, the plot. Just everything about it screams me.

Blind Deception (Kings of Retribution MC Montana #1) by Sandy Alvarez and Crystal Daniels: You all know how much I love reading MC romances, and I liked being back in this world. We have come back to the Montana chapter and that makes me really excited. I can’t wait to see what this new series brings.

Gravity #1-#3 by Sarina Bowen: By the end of the month I wasn’t much in the mood for reading so I did a re-read of the first two books in this trilogy and then read the last book. I enjoyed being back in this world and while this series isn’t my favourite from Bowen I still enjoyed it.

And that is it. As you see it was a much slower month for me. I did read some large books this book, but I wasn’t in the mood for reading for a good chunk. What did you read this month? Have you read anything that I did? Let’s Chat!

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
