I Went A Little Wild This Month | October Book Haul

I Went A Little Wild This Month | October Book Haul

Nov 2, 2020

I couldn’t stop myself this month. I bought a mix of books from work and from other bloggers that were selling. There is also got a mix of books this month from romance and paranormal to young adult and fantasy. There are books on this that I have already read, however, I wanted physical copies of it. Anway, like always these are in no order.

Psy-Changeling 6, 8, 9, 11 and Wild Invitation by Nalini Singh: I’ve been slowly buying my way through this series. And I’ve now I have up to book 11. I’m hoping to get the rest by the end of the year, but let’s see.

Crash into You (Loving on the Edge #1) by Roni Loren: I don’t know too much about this one, but it was on sale and it sounded like something that I might enjoy reading. I’ve read a few books from Roni Loren before and really enjoyed them a lot. So I’m hoping I feel the same.

The Princess Plan (A Royal Wedding #1) by Julia London: I’m always up for new historical romances and this one sounds interesting. I haven’t read too many that have a focus on the royal family and I’m excited.

Solo by Kwame Alexander with Mary Rand Hess: I bought Swing last month and when I saw that this one was on sale I hopped on it. I’m excited to pick these books ups soon that is for sure.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters #1) by Talia Hibbert: I’ve been wanting to get this one for months and I finally picked it up from work. I’m hoping to get to this one in November sometime. I have heard nothing but things about this one and the whole series. And I have a feeling I will want to rest once I’m done reading it.

Slayer (Slayer #1) by Kiersten White: This is another one that I’ve been wanting to read for ages, but just never picked up. And then I saw it on sale and couldn’t stop myself. I’m excited to read this one for sure. I’m ready for a wild ride.

Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson: This is one I’ve been unsure about for a little while. And I finally took the plunge and picked a copy up. I was able to get the gorgeous hardcover for such a good price. I’m so excited about it even more now.

Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom: This has been on my tbr for years now and when I saw that it was up for sale I got it. I’m always looking for new books that feature disability. And this one caught my eye right away. I’ve also heard some good things about it. I’ve read another book by Eric Lindstrom and enjoyed it, so I am looking forward to this.

A Scot in the Dark (Scandal & Scoundrel #2) by Sarah MacLean: I’ve been loving Sarah MacLean and I couldn’t help myself to pick up another one of her books. I’m always excited about a new to be series by an author that I love.

Kulti by Mariana Zapata: A friend had a whole heap of Mariana Zapata’s books for sale and I’ve been really enjoying them. This is one of the ones that I haven’t read and I’m excited to pick it up.

Under Locke by Mariana Zapata: This is my favourite Mariana Zapata that I’ve read so far and I’m so happy that I know have a physical copy of it. You can check out my review now.

Racing the Sun by Karina Halle: I hadn’t really hard about this one before, but it sounds like something that I will really enjoy reading. I haven’t read anything from Karina Halle either, but I’ve heard some good things.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata: This is another one that I have read and excited that I now have a physical copy.

Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin by Mariana Zapata: I hadn’t heard about this one before, but now I’m intrigued by it and can’t wait to read it. This is also one of her smaller novels which I’m so excited about. Because damn she goes wild and writes massive romances.

And that it is for today’s post. Those are the books that I went wild with this October. Have you read anything on this list? Are you planning to? What did you get last month? Let’s chat!

A Slow Start But Finished Off Great | October Wrap Up

A Slow Start But Finished Off Great | October Wrap Up

Nov 1, 2020

The start of October was a little slow for me. I just wasn’t in the mood for reading. I still hadn’t started work at that point and I think I was just a little down. But towards the ending the month I got back into my groove and felt like reading more and more. And guess what? After 3 months I’m finally back at work. I started back this week and gosh it feels amazing to be back selling books and just being there has been fantastic.

I read 16 books this month with all of them being romance. But I did read a range of different romances with some new genres for me as well. I also had a few re-reads this month to get me back into the reading mood. Anyway like always these are in no order.

Rifts & Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry: It’s a fantastic second chance romance that hit all the spots. Quinn and Graham were adorable and sexy and fit together so well. I also adored the bond that Quinn and Colin built and it just made everything better. Full Review.

Muses & Melodies (Hush Note #3) by Rebecca Yarros: This faking dating romance is hard-hitting and emotional at times, but it’s also beautiful. It explores overcoming, finding and believing in yourself and also that sometimes it’s okay to get a little help. Nixon and Zoe were perfect for one another. They balanced each other, they pushed each other. But they also loved one another. Full Review.

Gunner (The Devil’s Angels MC #1) by Lola Wright: This one wasn’t for me. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters or the story. Everything just felt very clique and nothing really stood out of me.

The Duke and I (Bridgertons #1) by Julia Quinn: I adored this, I loved this and it’s one of my favourite books I’ve read this year. Ely and I will be doing a discussion soon and you can see how much we both loved it. I’m so excited to read the rest of the series.

Rookie Move (Brooklyn Bruisers #1) by Sarina Bowen: This was a re-read for me and gosh I loved it so much. I adore Georgia Worthington and Leo Trevi. They are fabulous together and I love this second chance romance so much.

Kiwi (The Kings of Retribution MC, Louisiana Chapter #4) by Crystal Daniels and Sandy Alvarez: I was really looking forward to this one. This romance has been brewing for a while now and I really did enjoy seeing this two fall in love. There were things that I didn’t love about this book, but overall it was an enjoyable MC read.

Ice Planet Barbarians #1 – #3.5 by Ruby Dixon: I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this series. It was strange, to say the least, but I kept on reading them. And I will keep on reading them. Sci-fi isn’t really my thing, and aliens are even more out of my comfort zone. Especially blue ones. But they are fun to read.

(KGI #1-2) by Maya Banks: These were my second re-read for October. I just felt like a good action read and I knew that these would give me that. I like this suspense romance series a lot. The highs and lows make reading this series interesting and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. If that is something you are wanting, check this series out.

Addictive (Houston Defiance MC #2) by K.E. Osborn: I read the first book in this series and the series that precedes it a little while ago and enjoyed what I read. I was a little disappointed with the start of this one, but as the book went on I enjoyed it even more.

His Disinclined Bride (Seasons of Change #7) by Jennie Goutet: This is a book that surprised me in October. I wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did, but I had a really good time reading it. The romance was slow and adorable, I love the characters. And I want to look into more books by this author. You can check out my full review now.

Lord of London Town (Adley Firm #1) by Tillie Cole: I started reading Tillie Cole this year and have many ups and downs. At first, I wasn’t liking this one, it’s dark. Very dark. And even though I read on the darker side sometimes, this was intense. But as the novel went on, I fell into the world and ended up enjoying what I was reading. I’m intrigued to see where this story goes that is for sure.

And that is it, those are the books that I read this October! What books did you read? Have you read anything that I did? Let’s Chat!

She agreed to marry on impulse; he agreed for money.

Kitty Stokes never imagined she’d be so weak as to sacrifice herself on the altar of family obligations, but when her brother impresses upon her that her only alternative to marriage with Phineas Hayworth is to play nursemaid to his own children, Kitty agrees against her better judgment. On her wedding day, the certainty she has made a grave error is only outweighed by the realization that it’s too late to back out now.

Phineas Hayworth refrained from setting eyes on his new bride before their wedding day. It was the price he forced himself to pay for being so mercenary as to contract a marriage with a wealthy merchant’s sister to save his estate from foreclosure. Her beauty, therefore, comes as a shock, as does her icy treatment, which he cannot but secretly feel he deserves. He swears an oath he will not approach her for an heir unless the invitation comes from her.

As Phineas sets out to repair the estate, dismiss lazy servants, and bring Kitty to Bath to present her to local Society, he finds his wife to be more enchanting than he could have hoped for, even in a love match. Kitty continues to hold him at arm’s length, although he suspects her feelings for him run just as deep. As Phineas’s love and desire for his wife grows, the oath he swore her begins to suffocate, and it soon becomes clear he must win her over completely or spend the rest of his life in a loveless marriage.

His Disinclined Bride:

I received an earc of His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet for free in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I didn’t know what to expect going into His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet. I hadn’t heard about it before, I hadn’t heard about the author before. But when I checked out the synopsis, it caught my eye right away. It sounded intriguing, and I’m always up for new historical romances.

His Disinclined Bride follows Kitty Stokes as she is about to marry the man that her brother has arranged. She never thought that this would happen, but she takes it in her stride. But she has never met the man that she is about to marry and doesn’t until they are at the altar. Phineas Hayworth didn’t expect to be taken aback by his new wife beauty, but when he sees her on their wedding he is blown away. Now married Kitty and Phineas need to not only get to know one another but find a balance in their new lives. Nothing ever comes easy, and the more time that they spend together, the more they get to know one another.

Kitty was such a pleasure of a character. She was engaging, smart and loving. As His Disinclined Bride went on the reader can see Kitty not only find herself but those around her. I thought that her characterisation was fantastic and well thought out. At first, we can see her anger and hesitation. But as she gets to know Phineas more and the life that they build together, she finds herself. I adore her caring nature, it was so nice to see and she melted my heart so many times. I do wish that she stood up for herself a little more especially regarding Phineas’ parents, there were hints of this. But I wanted more.

Phineas was an interesting protagonist. It did take me a little while to warm up to him, but as Kitty can break down his walls, it was easier to know him. It took him a little while to warm up to Kitty as while and their new life, but once that happens everything seems to flow so much better. I liked seeing him grow throughout the novel. At the start, he is very closed off and holds back, but as the novel goes on he starts to let go. And when he does that, he becomes a better person.

The romance in His Disinclined Bride had a tiny rough start to me. The reader can see that they both find each other attractive, but they don’t connect right away. They come from different lives and with that, they see things differently. But I adored that Phineas didn’t push Kitty for anything. That was one of my favourite things about the book. It made me so happy and excited. They had a lot of ups and downs, they fought, but they also didn’t know what to do with each other at times. However, when they let go, they came together and it was great.

Overall I enjoyed reading His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet. It was intriguing and the romance and the characters were fantastic. I had such a good time exploring Kitty and Phineas and watch them not only fall in love but create a family. It was an engaging historical romance that didn’t disappoint. It’s also a great one to start with as it’s easy to read and follow. If you want a fresh new historical romance this is a great place to start.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
