Books On My TBR I Predict Will Be 5-Star Reads

Books On My TBR I Predict Will Be 5-Star Reads

Feb 4, 2020

This week I’m sharing Books On My TBR I Predict Will Be 5-Star Reads. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Something I have found out in the last couple of years is that I don’t give out 5 stars a lot! 4 Stars no problem but 5’s, this one is hard for me. So today I’m sharing the books on my TBR that I think might get to that 5-star mark! Like always these are in no order.

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare: This will be no surprise to anyone that this has made my list. I have n doubt in my mind that this one will be a 5-star or very close to a 5-star. This is the first book in her new trilogy in the shadowhunter world and I can’t wait!

The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor #1) by Jessica Townsend: I’ve had this one since it came out, some time ago, but I just haven’t picked it up yet. But I have heard nothing but good things about this one. And I have no doubt it’s going to end up with a high rating.

Night Owls by Jenn Bennett: This is one of the only Jenn Bennett YA Contemporaries that I haven’t read it, simply because I keep on forgetting that I do have it. But I have loved and adored each of Jenn Bennett’s other books that I have read. So most likey this one is going to close to a 5-star.

Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff:  This one is a strange one on my list. Science Fiction is always something that I struggle with reading, but I have a feeling about this one. I think I’m going to really love it.

Circe by Madeline Miller: Song of Achilles is one of my favourite books of all time, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about Circe, so this is going to be very close to a 5-star for me for sure. It’s got everything that I love, by an author who writing I adore.

Girl Out of Water by Laura Silverman: This has been on my TBR since before it came out, and I just haven’t had the chance to pick it up. But it sounds like something that just sounds like me.

Great And Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros: Is something that I am both looking forward to and not prepared for. I have cried in every one of her books that I have read and given pretty high ratings to each. I know that this one is going to tear me to pieces, but most likely be a 5-star.

The Ones Who Got Away (The Ones Who Got Away #1) by Roni Loren: I cannot wait to start this series. I’ve heard so many good things about it, especially from people that I know. And I think that this has the potential to be a 5-star read for me.

Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett: This is the second Jenn Bennett on this list, but I feel even more confident that this will get a 5-star. This includes coming of age, a ‘bad boy’ and I am so ready. Like I said before I love Jenn Bennett and I can’t wait to read more from here.

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas: Now this one is something that I think might even be my favourite of the year. I read all of Lisa Kleypas books last year and I’m so excited to pick this one up.

And that is it for this post! What are the books on your TBR that you think will be 5-star reads? Do we have any that’s the same Let’s Chat!

2020 Covers That I’m Loving Already

2020 Covers That I’m Loving Already

Jan 28, 2020

This week I’m sharing the covers that I’m loving so far in 2020. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I love pretty covers there is no denying that. It doesn’t necessarily make the decision if I read the book or not, but it doesn’t influence if I pick it up off the shelf. There are a lot of books that are going to be released later in the year that doesn’t have covers yet, so this list might change throughout the year, but as of today, here are the covers that I’m loving. Like always these are in no order.

Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1) by Cassandra Clare: I have adored this cover, ever since I first saw it. It’s stunning! The colours are so perfect, and the flow of the hair, just screams movement. I have a love/hate relationship with Cassandra Clare covers, but this has to be one of my favourites.

A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers #2) by Brigid Kemmerer: There is probably no surprise that this has made my list. I really love the covers of this series and so one is so striking. The green, the silver and gold and then that pop of purple. It’s all I love.

Of Curses and Kisses (St. Rosetta’s Academy #1) by Sandhya Menon: This is another one of those covers, where as soon as I saw it, I knew that I loved it. I just love how everything is placed and the colours – everything just works so nicely together.

The Notorious Virtues (The Notorious Virtues #1) by Alwyn Hamilton: There is so much going on, on this cover but I love it! It’s so beautiful and detailed. But you can still make things outs. I love that it looks like things are popping out and lifting off the page.

Great And Precious Things by Rebecca Yarros: I love the simplicity of this cover. The colours are beautiful and work so well with the boots and the tags. Somethings you need nothing at all, but it explains everything. And I feel that this cover does that.

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas: This cover is so pretty!!! The club is just wams you in the face, but I love it! She looks like a princess and I love that so much. I can’t wait to read this one either. Seriously.

Now That I’ve Found You by Kristina Forest: Look how cute this cover is!! I can’t stop smiling and I am just looking at it. Again the colours really do something for me here, add the illustrations and everything looks so pretty.

And that is it for this post! What are some of the covers that you are loving already this year? Let’s Chat!

The Most Recent Additions to My Bookshelf

The Most Recent Additions to My Bookshelf

Jan 21, 2020

This week I’m sharing the most recent additions to my bookshelf. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I have a really bad habit of not remember when I brought a book. I guess because I work in a book store, I buy something nearly every week. So it becomes like second nature to me. But for this, I tried to remember some of my most recent purchases. I also didn’t include books that I’ve purchased for others as well. But here we go. Like always these are in no order.

Hat Trick (Fake Boyfriend #5) by Eden Finley: I released I hadn’t finished this series, so needed to buy the last couple of books so I could quickly binge read them. This series follows a group of new and old friends as they try to navigate life, new relationships, and new findings. All the main relationships in this series are m/m, but includes both gay and bi males.  I have now read this whole series and while it isn’t my favourite by far, it’s a fun series.

Final Play (Fake Boyfriend #6) by Eden Finley: The last book in the series that I needed. It finishes everyone’s stories nicely. And the readers get to see what everyone is up to. It’s like short novellas about each couple from the series but in one big timeline.

Check, Please! Book 1: # Hockey (Check, Please! #1-2) by Ngozi Ukazu: This has been on my TBR of books to buy for such a long time now and I’ve recently been in the book to read some graphic novel and I felt this was the perfect one. It combines my love for NA, sports romance and everything fun. This is my most recent buy.

The Library of Lost Things by Laura Taylor Namey: This is one of those books that came into work and I thought I might like it. It doesn’t happen that often that I pick up a book while processing at work, but this sounded really interesting. I’m currently reading this one and enjoying it so far.

The Bookworm Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts: Again this is one that I hadn’t really heard much about, but I saw it in-store and it sounded like something that I would really like. And I did. I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s a fun read that explores, coming of age and finding yourself.

Tilly and the Bookwanderers (Pages & Co. #1) by Anna James:  My lovely best friend Ely from OfWonderland. So I finally picked it up last month. I can’t wait to read this one. I have heard nothing but good things about this one.

The Long Distance Playlist by Tara Eglington: As soon as I read the synopsis for this one, I knew that I needed to pick it up. And luckily we were getting a few copies into work. I can’t wait to get stuck into reading this one

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
