Books That Give Off Autumn Vibes

Books That Give Off Autumn Vibes

Nov 5, 2019

This week I’m sharing the books that remind me of Autumn/Fall. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

While it’s now Spring here in Australia, and it’s heating up. But sometimes I do wish to go back to Autumn. So today I am sharing all the books that remind me of Autumn. Whether it’s the title, the cover or even the book its self. Like always these are in no order.

It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers #2) by Lisa Kleypas: The title of this one is a dead giveaway. But it isn’t just the title for this one. Everything about this one screams Autumn and I love it. Throw in a ball and a romance that just melts my heart. I would read and re-read this one any day.

Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand: It’s the cover for this one. I love the covers of this series so much, but this one just stands out. I love the movement of the leaves, the glow and the colours just make everything more perfect.

Bittersweet (True North #1) by Sarina Bowen: I don’t know what it is about this book and series that remind me of Autumn. Especially since a lot of them are set during Winter or Spring. It might the covers or just the fact it’s all set on a farm. This series just makes me so happy.

You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn: Again this one of those covers that just remind me of Autumn. I think it’s the way that the hair is flowing, along with the colours of the grass. Plus this book was fantastic.

Halo (Halo #1) by Alexandra Adornetto: This is one of the first series that I really feel in love with as a young teen. And the cover immediately screams Autumn to me. It’s the sunset really.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: While it’s not Autumn here in Australia for Halloween, it’s what it’s easily associated with. So I had to add Fraenstein on to this list. This has to be one of my favourite horror novels of all time. I love the gothic writing and I recommend it to everyone.

Trial by Fire (Worldwalker #1) by Josephine Angelini: This one is one the list because it’s all about magic and witches. Like I just said Autumn and Halloween fit together so well. And this is one of my favourite fantasy series. I love the way that magic is in this one and I just want more people to read it.

And that is it for this week! What are some of the books that give you Autumn vibes? Do we share any that’s the same? Let’s Chat!

Books I Read In October | Monthly Wrap Up

Books I Read In October | Monthly Wrap Up

Nov 2, 2019

I read a whopping 30 books in October. I’m so confused as to how that happened. I did take a little break from blogging so I think that freed my reading time up. Every one of them was a romance book and I’m pretty cool with that. I went on a massive Kindle Unlimited binge and read a few series.

So today I thought I would share with you, all the books I read in October. Like always these are in no order.

Dash (Blackwings MC #1) by Teagan Brooks: Wasn’t a great start to the month. I didn’t really like this one at all. It sounded perfect for me, but I wasn’t able to connect with the characters or the story at all | 2 Stars.

Breaking the Rules (Breaking the Rules #1) by Ember Leigh: This one was much better. I was able to connect with the protagonists a little more. And I do love my sports romances | 3 Stars.

Blaze (Satan’s Fury MC: Memphis #1) by L. Wilder: The first book in an MC series, that I couldn’t put down. Blaze and Kenadee were great together, and I was able to connect with them both a little. I love a new MC series and this was great | 3 Stars.

Shadow (Satan’s Fury MC: Memphis #2) by L. Wilder: MC books always have this vibe that I love. They are never my favourite books, but most of the time they are always fun to read. And this one was no different | 3 Stars.

Riggs (Satan’s Fury MC: Memphis #3) by L. Wilder: One of the main reasons, why I love reading MC series, is because you get to know the male protagonists way before their story. And when it’s their took, the reader gets to know them so much more | 3 Stars.

Murphy (Satan’s Fury MC: Memphis #4) by L. Wilder: This has to be one of my favourites in this series. I just loved so much about the book. The romance, the story, the intensity. It was great | 4 Stars.

Maverick (Satan’s Fury MC #1) by L. Wilder: The first in a prequel series to the Memphis MC. I didn’t realise that there was a series beforehand. And it all so happened to be on KU. Ah, it’s just a fun series | 4 Stars.

Stitch (Satan’s Fury MC #2) by L. Wilder: I don’t know what it is, but seeing two families come together just puts a massive smile on my face. Especially when there is a little kid involved. Stitch and Wren were great together and then add in Wyatt, everything is better | 4 Stars.

Cotton (Satan’s Fury MC #3) by L. Wilder: I always love when there’s a book about an MC president. It adds another dimension. To not only the president themselves but the club. And this one was such fun | 4 Stars.

Clutch (Satan’s Fury MC #4) by L. Wilder: One of my least favourite in series, but still really enjoyed it. This one was a little more emotional then the others and both protagonists were fantastic | 3 Stars.

Big (Satan’s Fury MC #6) by L. Wilder: I didn’t realise how many books I was reading in October until I got to this one. Big was so interesting. I love the combination of being an MC member and a tech wiz | 4 Stars.

Smokey (Satan’s Fury MC #5) by L. Wilder: I love second chance romances and that’s what we had here. Add in an MC member and things are great | 3.5 Stars.

Two Bit (Satan’s Fury MC #7) by L. Wilder: I always love when someone is thrown into the MC life, but what I also love is when someone who knows the life, is thrown into it, even more, | 3 Stars

Diesel (Satan’s Fury MC #8) by L. Wilder: This was probably my least favorite of the series but I still enjoyed it | 2.5 Stars

The Play (Briar U #3) by Elle Kennedy: I’m really upset that I didn’t love this one as much as I wanted to. I love Elle Kennedy’s books, but I’m so disappointed with it. I’ll have a full of this up very soon | 3 Stars

Halo (Fallen Angel #1) by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine: I knew nothing about this series when I picked this one up. But gosh it was so much fun. Halo and Viper were fabulous and I couldn’t put this series down | 4 Stars

Viper (Fallen Angel #2) by Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank: Things are getting intense and everything is filled with angst but I love it. If you are looking for an m/m romances that also includes a band, then this is for you | 3.5 Stars

Angel (Fallen Angel #3) by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine: I think this has to be one of my favorite series I read this October. I smiled and cried and just everything was great in this series.

Hopelessly Devoted (Bayou Devils MC #1) by A.M. Myers: This is another KU series that I happened to happen upon. I read a lot of MC books in October not going to lie. And this one was okay | 3 Stars

Addicted to Love (Bayou Devils MC #2) by A.M. Myers: Lots of Angst and angry. But also so much love. | 3 Stars

Every Breath You Take (Bayou Devils MC #3) by A.M. Myers: Again this one was quite emotional | 3 Stars

It Ends Tonight (Bayou Devils MC #4) by A.M. Myers: Not going to lie this one was really hard to read. Like I had to stop a couple of times and just breathe through it | 3 Stars.

Little Do You Know (Bayou Devils MC #5) by A.M. Myers: This whole series has been very emotional. And while I haven’t loved it all, it’s fantastic at creating and evoking emotions | 3 Stars.

Never Let Me Go (Bayou Devils MC #6) by A.M. Myers: Again another emotional rollercoaster | 3 Stars.

Every Little Thing (Bayou Devils MC #7) by A.M. Myers: Second chance romances – yes, please. This one was fantastic | 3 Stars

Hidden Scars (Hidden Scars #1) by A.M. Myers: Prequel to the previous series. This one is just as emotional and heartbreaking. But also so beautiful | 3.5 Stars

Collateral Damage (Hidden Scars #2) by A.M. Myers: I think this one was my least favourite of this trilogy. Just way too much back and forth for me. I just wanted everyone to be happy.

Evading Fate (Hidden Scars #3) by A.M. Myers: I liked this one a little better than the second, but again it’s full of angst and little communication.

Scarred (Sailor’s Grave #3) by Drew Elyse: I’ve been waiting for this one for ages and I’m so happy that I was finally able to read it. I love this series so much and this was no exception. My full review will be up soon | 4 Stars.

Moonlighter (The Company #1) by Sarina Bowen: A new series from Sarina Bowen. Childhood friends to lovers is so damn good and Bowen does it so well. My full review will be up soon.

And that is it! If you stuck around – thank you. Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Are you planning on reading them? What did you read in October? Let’s have a chat!

“Spooky” Reads Perfect for October

“Spooky” Reads Perfect for October

Oct 29, 2019

This week I’m sharing the books that I think are perfect to read around October and Halloween. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Halloween isn’t really a big thing here in Australia, so it’s always hard to get in that mood. Over the past couple of years, it has become bigger, but even then. Adding to that, I’m not a massive horror fan. Really I hate horror and I avoid watching and reading scary things at all costs. So today I thought I would share with you some of my favourite “spooky” novels that I think are perfect to read this time of year. Like always these are in no particular order.

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake: I couldn’t make this list without putting Anna Dressed in Blood on it. I love this series. It’s dark and so intriguing. It has a great combo of being ‘scary’ but also a novel that anyone can read. It’s one of those novels that tears you apart, but you are totally fine about it.

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee: While this isn’t your typical horror book. The Angels in this series are not kind, or beautiful. You don’t want to meet them in the middle of the street. It’s that kind of read that throws everything that you’ve read or know about Angels out of the water.

Teen Spirit by Francesca Lia Block: This is a fantastic book for those just starting to test the waters in horror. It’s always a great book for younger teens. I read this quite a number of years ago now, but I really enjoyed it.

The Vanishing Game by Kate Kae Myers: This one grabbed me from the first page. It’s intense and you never really know what’s going on as a reader. And that’s the best part. It’s spooky and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The reader doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t. It’s so good.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black: I really love this book. It’s a great combo of vampires and horror. This is the kind of vampire books I like. Dark, inhuman and so well done. The attention to detail is fabulous in this one and I just love falling into this world. Vampires are world known, so making them unique can be hard sometimes and Holly Black did such a good job.

Hotel for the Lost by Suzanne Young: This was such an interesting book. Firstly I’m going to say, it’s not for everyone. But when I read it, I really enjoyed it. The concept of a hotel that is haunted is so common, but it was done so well here, that I couldn’t help but love it.

And there we go. Those are “spooky” reads that I loved reading and I think are perfect to read in October and this time of year. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Are you planning to read any of these? Let’s Chat!

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
