In case you’re wondering, this is not a love story.

My name is Tori Spring. I like to sleep and I like to blog. Last year – before all that stuff with Charlie and before I had to face the harsh realities of A-Levels and university applications and the fact that one day I really will have to start talking to people – I had friends. Things were very different, I guess, but that’s all over now.

Now there’s Solitaire. And Michael Holden.

I don’t know what Solitaire are trying to do, and I don’t care about Michael Holden.

I really don’t.

Solitaire:

First Line: I am aware as I step into the common room that the majority of the people here are almost dead, including me.

I received a copy of Solitaire by Alice Oseman to review from Harper Collins Australia. This is no way has influenced my review.

Okay, let me tell you something about this book. You will not be able to put it down. This book becomes addicting. You want to keep on reading, trying to find out what the hell Solitaire is. You just cannot put it down.

I loved Victoria, she likes to sleep and blog, what else could be better? Victoria is a very intriguing character; you don’t always know what she is really thinking even though the book is in her perceptive. There is something about her that leaves a lot of the things she says unclear. But that is also why I liked her so much. Maybe because I think that I am a lot like Victoria.

Michael Holden is a very interesting character, he is every different to a lot of characters in books in general. There is just something about him that leaves this weird but awesome aura, if you get what I mean

The way that the whole book is written is magnificent. I don’t know what it is, but it’s beautiful and gorgeous and I could read it all the time. Though the writing was simple, it was always just so beautiful.

Alice Oseman is wow. That is all I can say. Her writing style is amazing and her story is so captivating and pulling that I cannot believe that she is only 19 years old. She is only like a year older than me, but I don’t think I could ever write something as amazing as she did at this age.

Solitaire also deals with a lot of ‘real life’ issues; family, bullying, being friendless, and being an outsider. Although these are very strong even scary topics to talk about, Oseman does it so brilliantly.

The last half of the book is what really drew me in, everything is climaxing and just before the ending you find out everything and you are mind blown. I know that I didn’t really guess what was happening at all. Some things to a degree, but I can tell you I was shocked and amazed at how Oseman could write something that intertwined everything.

I adored that Oseman used pop culture references. I loved that she used Harry Potter so many times. Okay, yes, I adore HP so it was pretty amazing and it always put a smile on my face.

Solitaire is funny, beautifully written, and also incredibly moving.  I did cry while reading Solitaire, maybe because I am always an emotional mess, but there were certain scenes that did make me cry because they were so emotionally driven that I could not help but shed a tear and the ending gosh, the ending is emotional and there was one part that made me nearly start screaming like a maniac in the middle of the night.

Solitaire is a beautiful story about a girl not only trying to find herself, but the world around her. The gorgeous writing and intriguing storyline will make you want to keep on reading.

For new high school graduate Echo Emerson, a summer road trip out west with her boyfriend means getting away and forgetting what makes her so… different. It means seeing cool sights while selling her art at galleries along the way. And most of all, it means almost three months alone with Noah Hutchins, the hot, smart, soul-battered guy who’s never judged her. Echo and Noah share everything — except the one thing Echo’s just not ready for.But when the source of Echo’s constant nightmares comes back into her life, she has to make some tough decisions about what she really wants — even as foster kid Noah’s search for his last remaining relatives forces them both to confront some serious truths about life, love, and themselves.

Now, with one week left before college orientation, jobs and real life, Echo must decide if Noah’s more than the bad-boy fling everyone warned her he’d be. And the last leg of an amazing road trip will turn… seriously epic.

I cannot explain how excited I am for Break the Rules. I loved like loved Pushing the Limits and being able to read some more Noah and Echo makes me scream with excitement. I loved both Echo and Noah and I just wanted more and Katie McGarry listened. I want to see what they have been up to and hopefully they do stay together because just my heart won’t be able to handle it. Below is an excerpt and a giveaway so read and enjoy!

From Noah’s Point of View

“Me and you,” I whisper, hoping my words will sink into her subconscious, beyond where she overthinks. “It’s how it’s supposed to be.” Echo’s hand glides over mine, and she links our fingers together. “You like disturbing my sleep, don’t you?” I kiss her shoulder, permitting my lips to linger on her soft skin. Guess I did wake her. “Just keeping things straight between us.” “In my sleep?” Damn, I love that groggy voice. “You argue less that way.”

I AM BACK!

Nov 11, 2014

Well as the title says I am back! I could not be more excited about it. So if you didn’t know I was on a short hiatus, okay yes it was like 2 months but in those 2 months I had my practice exam, graduated from high school and today finally after 13 years of school, I have finished. (yes, yes I still have University but it’s different.)

I could not be happy that I am finished, It’s been a long year and after 3 weeks of 6 exams my fingers are blistered, my hands hurt and my room is a mess with everything everywhere but I am so glad that it is over.

I never really realised how much blogger impacted my life, it’s been so hard not being able to blog and talk to you all about books. I have also only read 1 book in those 2 months and only because I needed a break.

Blogging has become my life the last 2 years and not being able to do it the last 2 months has been crazy and I am so glad that I am back. It’s time to read and review and just have too much fun. I have so many exciting things to come and some really awesome features that I cannot wait to start. But for now it is time to party and just be all crazy…about books.

I also turn 18 this months so that is something else that I am looking forward to this month.

The next couple of weeks might be crazy me getting back into the grove of things, reviewing the books that I read before I went on hiatus and didn’t get to review a whole heap of stuff but I am excited to be back and I hope that you are too.

xx Angel

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
