A Slow Reading Month | August Wrap Up

A Slow Reading Month | August Wrap Up

Sep 1, 2022

August was probably one of the worst reading months I have had in a while and it was just slow. I was in a massive reading slump, super busy with work, and didn’t know what I wanted to read. So here we are it’s the end of the month I only managed to read just over 10 books. For me that is very much on the smaller side of what I do normally read.

So here are the books that I read this month. It was a range of romance this month from contemporary to fantasy and more. I read a lot of series, and books from the same author. But it just made this slump a little easier to get through. So let’s go.

Wait With Me (Wait With Me #1) by Amy Daws – 3 Stars | Headcase (Necessary Evils #4) by Onley James – 4 Stars. | Ruthless Fae (Zodiac Academy #2) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti – 3.5 Stars | The Reckoning (Zodiac Academy #3) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti – 3 Stars.

Shadow Princess (Zodiac Academy #4) by Caroline Peckham Susanne Valenti – 4 Stars | Audrey (Castle Omega #1) by Elle Lincoln – 2 Stars. | Mixed Signals (Lovelight #3) by B.K. Borison  – 4.5 Stars | Faking with Benefits by Lily Gold – 3.5 Stars.

Nanny for the Neighbors by Lily Gold – 4 Stars | Three Swedish Mountain Men by Lily Gold – 3.5 Stars.

And there we go. Those are the books that I read this August. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? How was you reading this August? I’m hoping this pickup and I don’t have a slow September. I’m getting to the busiest time of the year at work. So it’s going to be interesting. Let’s Chat!

Books I Wish Were On My School Syllabus

Books I Wish Were On My School Syllabus

Aug 30, 2022

This week I’m sharing the books that I wish were on my school syllabus. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

It’s school freebie time this week, and I thought I would share the books that if I was currently in school, I would love to be on my syllabus. I’ve been out of school for some time now, but I am doing this week’s list, as though I’m currently in school.

I honestly 0nly loved maybe two of the books that I read in high school. I didn’t hate all of the others but I also didn’t enjoy them. Today I’m sharing some modern books that I think would be perfect for school syllabuses. So let’s go. As always these are in no order.

The Hate U Give (The Hate U Give #1) by Angie Thomas | This is How We Change the Ending by Vikki Wakefield. | How It Feels to Float by Helena Fox | Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers.

Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1) by Nic Stone | The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo | The Surprising Power of a Good Dumpling by Wai Chim. | Disruption (Disruption #1) by Jessica Shirvington.

Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper #1) by Alice Oseman | The Gaps by Leanne Hall.

And there we go. Those are the books that I wished were on my school syllabus when I was at school. If you didn’t notice a lot fo the books on here, are from Austalian authors. I think it’s so important that we not only read books from Aussie authors, but the life of an Australian. But there are also some other books on here, that I think are such important reads.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What books did you wish were on your school syllabus? So, Let’s Chat!

Books I Want To Read By The End of The Year

Books I Want To Read By The End of The Year

Aug 28, 2022

There are so many books that I want to read. So many. But today I thought I would share with you the books I really want to read by the end of the year. I might not be able to read all of these but I am going to give it a go.

Some of these are from series that I have already started, some are from authors I love and some are ones that I really just want to read. Like most of the year, nearly all of the books on this list are romance. It’s honestly all I am reading at the moment. And I’m loving it. I hadn’t included books that are yet to be released. So let’s go. As always these are in no real order.

Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert | Cursed Fates (Zodiac Academy #5) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. | Mad Man (Necessary Evils #5) by Onley James. | That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf (Mead Mishaps #2) by Kimberly Lemming.

All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata | Rock Hard (Rock Kiss #2) by Nalini Singh | Promises and Pomegranates (Monsters & Muses #1) by Sav R. Miller. | Written in the Stars (Written in the Stars #1) by Alexandria Bellefleur.

And there we go. Those are the books that I would want to read by the end of the year. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What do you want to have read by the end of the year?

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
