Books I Bought In May | Book Haul

Books I Bought In May | Book Haul

Jun 10, 2020

Today I thought I would share some of the books that I bought and received in May. I didn’t buy too many books last month. I wasn’t on a buying ban per se. However, most of the books that I had on order at work or did plan to read have been delayed. Which is fine. Which is good. Anyway, here are the books that I bought and received in May. Like always these are in no order.

Men of Inked #1 – #3 by Chelle Bliss: I spoke about this series in my May wrap up I picked this one up because I felt like reading a book that included something to do with tattoo’s and while this series wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, I still enjoyed reading it

Fallen Son (The Fallen Men #2.5) by Giana Darling: I read the four books already out in this series in April and loved it. But I somehow missed this one, so I had to pick it up. Fallen Son is really sweet. I loved getting to look at this side of the characters and MC.

The Thalanian Dynasty Series by Katee Robert: This author popped up a lot last month with romance readers so I thought why not and give it a go. I’ve read the novella now and enjoyed it, so I got the rest of the series so I can continue reading this month.

May HaulThe Year the Maps Changed by Danielle Binks: There was a lot of Aussie YA and MG that came out in May and this one was one of them. I’m hoping to pick this one up this month, and I can’t wait. It’s set where I spent a lot of my summers growing up. And that just sounds fantastic to me.

Peta Lyre’s Rating Normal by Anna Whateley: Another #LoveOzYA that I picked up last month and I’m so excited. It sounds fantastic and it’s been getting some amazing reviews. It looks like it’s going to be exactly what I love.

Please Don’t Hug Me by Kay Kerr: More #LoveOzYA. Because yes! This is another one that I cannot wait to read. It sounds fantastic and I need to read it soon. Again I’ve been hearing some great things about this one and I’m excited to see what I think of it.

The Heroes of Olympus Boxed Set by Rick Riordan: After doing my re-read of Percy Jackson, I thought I would re-read the next series and then I realised that I don’t own them. I read them from the school library the first time. I ended up getting the gorgeous 10th-anniversary edition and I’m so in love.

May Haul A Duke, the Lady, and a Baby (Rogues and Remarkable Women #1) by Vanessa Riley: This is one of the books that I received for review and I’m intrigued by it. The reviews have been up and down, but the synopsis has caught my eye. Especially because it’s a diverse historical romance that includes a disabled character. I’m hoping to pick this up in the next couple of days.

Who Wants to Marry a Duke (Duke Dynasty #3) by Sabrina Jeffries: I’ve heard so many good things about this author and I cannot wait to dig into this series and this book. The synopsis of this one caught my eye right away and now I can’t wait to read it. I’m going to try and read the first two books before I do pick this one up, so hopefully, that happens.

The Bro Code by Elizabeth A. Seibert: I honestly had heard nothing about this book before I requested to review it, but it sounds tropey and like something that I might enjoy. This doesn’t come out till September so I might not read it for a while.

And I think that is it for my May haul! And while I didn’t buy a lot of books last month. I currently have a lot of books on order and I mean a lot. And I also didn’t include books that I did pay for in May but have yet to arrive. I did two decent orders of romance books, so hopefully, they come soon.

What books did you get in May? Are any of them the same as me? What books are you looking forward to in June? Let’s Chat!

Books I Have Out From The Library

Books I Have Out From The Library

May 17, 2020

Today I thought I would share the books that I currently have on loan from my local library. I go through phases of how I use my library. Sometimes I’m there every week, sometimes I can go months without going. But with everything that has been happening, I’ve been using my libraries digital catalogue a lot more.

I love getting ebooks from a library as it allows me to read a book that I’m not certain about, especially if the book is really expensive here. Which I’ve found has been happening a lot more recently. I’ve also been able to request ebooks in – and that has been fantastic. Anyway here we go, like always these are in no order.

Physical Loans

Rock Me Two Times (Rock Band #1) by Dawn Ryder: I really don’t know much about this one, but I was trying to find some romances at my library and this one caught my eye. It sounds interesting and music romances always intrigue me. I haven’t had the chance to read it yet. But I hope to get to it soon.

You Must Be Layla by Yassmin Abdel-Magied: This has been on my to-read list for some time now and when I found in my library I had to grab it. I just haven’t picked it up yet, but I think I want to very soon.

Making Friends with Alice Dyson by Poppy Nwosu: I’ve spoken about this one a few times in the last couple of months and that is because I really did love it. It’s a sweet story that looks at friendships, the most adorable romance, and the strength of opening up. You can check out my full review as well.

As Happy as Here by Jane Godwin: Again this is another one that has been something that I would like to read for a while. It sounds like something that I can connect, but it also sounds like it’s an adventure. I’m really excited to pick this one up.

The Man in the Water by David Burton: This is another #LoveOzYA that has been on my TBR for a while. I’ve really enjoyed YA thriller/crime books and it’s always something that I’m looking to recommend. So this caught my eye from the start. I can’t wait to start it.

Digital Loans

Bonds of Brass (The Bloodright Trilogy #1) by Emily Skrutskie: This one has been on my TBR for a little while now. I’m not a massive science fiction reader. But this one caught my eye right away. It sounds fantastic and I’m really intrigued to see where the story goes. I haven’t heard too much about it, so I would like to see how I feel.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: This is another one that I have read – and I loved it. It’s my favourite book so far this year. I cannot stop talking about it. I just love everything about it. My review will be up later next week. But just know, you should read it.

House of Dragons (House of Dragons #1) by Jessica Cluess: Another one that has caught my eye recently. I don’t know too much about it, expect the synopsis but I would really like to find out. I’ve been hearing mix things about this one, so I’m interested to see where I stand.

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller: The synopsis of this one is what first caught my eye. I’ve been really feeling fantasy again recently. And this one seems to be something that I would love.  Again some people are loving and some aren’t. And I like books that that.

And those are the books that I currently have out from the library! Have you read any of these? What did you think? Are you planning on reading any of these? Do you have anything on loan from the library? Let’s Chat!

My Current Kindle Unlimited Books

My Current Kindle Unlimited Books

May 8, 2020

I’ve had a Kindle Unlimited (KU) membership for some time now. I find it’s a great source of romance books especially those that I’m not too sure about. It has introduced me to some amazing authors and I love that it has also saved me a lot of money! And I mean a lot. I also enjoy when the first book is on KU and if you are feeling iffy about starting the series, it’s a great way to dive in.

So today I thought I would share what I currently have from Kindle Unlimited. For the most part, it’s mostly a romance that I do get from KU. But they do have a range of books from general fiction to young adult. I’m always getting new books through Kindle Unlimited so this list changes a lot. Like always these are in no order but are the books that I currently have unread with Kindle Unlimited.

Zach (Hell’s Handlers MC #1) by Lilly Atlas: Not going to lie, a lot of the books that I normally get from Kindle Unlimted is MC romances. I just love them so much. You can see some of my favourites here. I don’t know too much about this one, it just popped up onto my feed and it sounded like something that I might enjoy. I haven’t had the time to start it yet but I’m excited.

Corrupt (Devil’s Night #1) by Penelope Douglas: Penelope Douglas has been an hour that I’ve thought about reading for some time now. And when I saw this one on KU. I just grabbed it. Single getting this one though, I did read Birthday Girl and I’m still trying to work out how I feel about it. I will have to pick this one up soon though.

The Forbidden Man by Karina Halle: I’ve been watching and reading a lot more romance bloggers recently and this book popped up quite a bit. And it intrigues me. I love my sports romances and this one seems like something that I might very much enjoy.

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata: I read my first Mariana Zapata last months and I’m still not sure how I feel about her books. But I really want to give this one a go. It’s another sports romance – which is right up my alley. And I’ve heard such good things about it as well as the author.

Undaunted (The Kings of Retribution MC #1) by Crystal Daniels and Sandy Alvarez: I’m not even sure how this one come to be on my kindle. I think I was just browsing KU books and this one popped up. This one has really caught my attention. MC romances are always a hit or miss for me. Sometimes they are fantastic and sometimes they are horrible. But I can’t wait to see where this falls.

The Air He Breathes (Elements #1) by Brittainy C. Cherry: This series just recently caught my eye and I want to know what it’s all about. General contemporary romance isn’t something that I read a whole lot of, but I want to start and this one seems interesting.

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa: This is another one that I’ve heard while watching and reading bloggers recently. I haven’t read many Dystopia/Fantasy romances like this and that has caught my eye. This series is currently still going, so I hope to pick it up soon.

Hero (Morgan Brothers #1) by Lauren Rowe: This one just sounded like a good read. I didn’t even read any reviews about it. It just sounded like something that I would really enjoy.

Fire in His Blood (Fireblood Dragon #1) by Ruby Dixon: This is another romance fantasy that caught my eye. This one intrigues me but I’m also very hesitant. However, I will give it a go nonetheless. It’s one that I have seen other romance readers pick up and I want to know what it’s about.

Love Under Quarantine by Kylie Scott and Audrey Carlan: I love Kylie Scott books and when I saw that she was bringing out a surprise new book and I knew that I needed to get my hands on it. And it sounds so good and I can’t wait to dig in. It just sounds like a quick and fun read. That is what I really am loving right now.

And that is it for this post! Those are the books I currently have with Kindle Unlimited! Have you read any of these? What did you think? Do you use Kindle Unlimited? What are some of your favourite reads from it? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
