Only a Little Bad | September Haul

Only a Little Bad | September Haul

Sep 30, 2021

As we’ve been in lockdown most of this month, my buying hasn’t been as bad as most of the year. I’m not at work so I haven’t had the access to buying books like I normally do. In saying that did buy a good amount.

Most of the books that I did purchase this month are from Off The Book Pages. While I also received quite a few earcs from NetGalley and publishers. Anyways let’s get into it. This is what I bought this September. As always these are in no order.

Sacred Embrace (Lightbringer Trilogy #1) by A.J. Ryder | Vows of a Mobster by Eva Winners | A Moment for Us (Willow Creek Valley #3) by Corinne Michaels | I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys.

My Boys by Alyssa Clark | Playing the Game (Making the Play #1) by L.M. Reid  | The Perfect First (Fulton U #1) by Maya Hughes | Enemies by Tijan

Air Awakens (Air Awakens #1) by Elise Kova | Signs of Cupidity (Heart Hassle #1) by Raven Kennedy | Twisted Games (Twisted #2) by Ana Huang | American Queen (New Camelot Trilogy #1) by Sierra Simone

Rhapsodic (The Bargainer #1) by Laura Thalassa | Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa | War (The Four Horsemen #2) by Laura Thalassa| Famine (The Four Horsemen #3) by Laura Thalassa

Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men #1) by Giana Darling | Welcome to the Dark Side (The Fallen Men #2) by Giana Darling | Good Gone Bad (The Fallen Men #3) by Giana Darling | Fallen King (The Fallen Men #5.5) by Giana Darling.

And there we go. Those are all the books that I bought in September. This doesn’t include books that I may have paid for and that hasn’t arrived. What did you buy in September? And let’s chat!

Oopsy Daisy | August Haul

Oopsy Daisy | August Haul

Sep 5, 2021

I bought a lot of books in August. I didn’t mean to per se, but it just kind of happened. It’s a mix of books that I’ve already read but wanted physical copies of. As well as new releases, and a whole heap of romance books.

Most of the books I got this month were from either work or Off The Book Pages. As well as this, I also got a fair few of these second hand! So let’s just get right into it. Like always these are in no order.

The Deal (Off-Campus #1) by Elle Kennedy | The Mistake (Off-Campus #2) by Elle Kennedy. | The Score (Off-Campus #3) by Elle Kennedy | The Kingmaker (All the King’s Men #1) by Kennedy Ryan.

Break You (Boys of Trinity Hall #1) by M.V. Ellis | Zed (Rough Ink #1) by M.V. Ellis | Fallen Academy: Year One (Fallen Academy #1) by Leia Stone. | Rejected (Shadow Beast Shifters #1) by Jaymin Eve.

Wicked Gods (Gifted Academy #1) by Michelle Hercules. | Heart Stopper (Rebels of Rushmore #1) by Michelle Hercules | Small Favors by Erin A. Craig | Seven Days in June by Tia Williams.

Hate (Madison Kate #1) by Tate James | Liar (Madison Kate #2) by Tate James. | Fake (Madison Kate #3) by Tate James | Kate (Madison Kate #4) by Tate James.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout | A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Blood and Ash #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. | The Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood and Ash #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout | Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert.

Making the Cut (Sons of Templar MC #1) by Anne Malcom | Flock (The Ravenhood #1) by Kate Stewart. | Exodus (The Ravenhood #2) by Kate Stewart | The Finish Line (The Ravenhood #3) by Kate Stewart.

And there we go! Those are all the books that I bought in August. I hate to think about what might have happened if I was at work. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning to? Nevertheless, Let’s Chat!

I Did a Little Damage | July Haul 2021

I Did a Little Damage | July Haul 2021

Jul 29, 2021

I had another really good buying month in July. While I did do a little damage it wasn’t too bad. I do know that next month is going to be a little worse – but that is absolutely fine.

There is a range of different books this month, from some romance to lots more YA.  Most of these are new releases though. There has been a lot that has come through at work – that I couldn’t help but buy. Anyway, let’s see what I bought this month and the little damage that I did do.

Blackout by Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson,  Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk and Nicola Yoon: This just sounded fantastic. I’ve read so many of these authors books that I couldn’t help but want to pick this one up. I’m hoping that. I can get started with it soon.

Henry Hamlet’s Heart by Rhiannon Wilde: This is one of those books that I picked up on a whim. I had seen it floating around, but I never checked out what it was about. Then it came into work. I read the back and I had it get it. This just sounds fantastic and exactly what I want to read.

Flash Fire (The Extraordinaries #2) by T.J. Klune: I read the first book in this series earlier in the year and really did enjoy it, so book 2 has been on my tbr for some time. I do have an e-arc of it but just haven’t got to it yet. And then this came into work just before we headed into this 5th lockdown. So I grabbed it in case we are going to be here for some time.

We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon: This is another one that came past me at work and I couldn’t help myself and pick it up. It just sounds like so much fun – and I think I need that at the moment. I need some fun, ya contemporary that is for sure.

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo: I have heard so many good things about this one, that I couldn’t help but grab it as well. It sounds fantastic, heartbreaking but also beautiful and I am ready for that. I haven’t read a lot of historical fiction set in the US and that alone caught my eye.

With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4) by Chloe Liese: I received an e-arc of this at the start of the month, and I’ve already it. I loved it so much, I think it’s one of my favourites in the series. It’s has everything that I love in a romance and I can’t wait to read even more in this series.

And there we go. I just did a little damage this month, but I expect next month will be much, much worse. But have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? What did you get this month?

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

After a week off we are back at it. We are in Miami this week’s and things are only just heating up. This week I’m reading Falling Off the Cliff Kanitha P.

…

Formula 1 legend in the making and rising star Thiago Valencia is chasing redemption as well as his second World Champion title. With a tarnished reputation and an undetermined future in F1 that hangs by a terribly loose thread, he can’t afford to lose his seat. Thiago is ready to do anything to redeem himself and erase his past mistakes. When a mysterious woman intrudes on his private party in Monte Carlo, he is certain the universe has brought his polar opposite into his life as salvation. He is sunshine, she is moonlight; he is a bright star and she is a moonbeam.

Destiny takes the wheel, steering Kamari into Thiago’s orbit, but her open disdain and closely guarded heart warn her to stay away. Enchanted by her charms, Thiago is intent on melting her freezing barriers and tearing down the walls shielding her heart.

When Kamari agrees to help him save his future by being his fake girlfriend, the unexpected happens, triggered by a game of lies, secrets and desire.

As they plunge towards the finish line, the race veers offtrack and neither of them are ready to fall off the cliff.

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
