I Did Good This Month | January Haul

I Did Good This Month | January Haul

Feb 6, 2021

I didn’t purchase too many books this month! And I feel pretty good. However, I did order a whole heap. so give or take. Today I’m sharing the books that I purchased, received and bought in January.

I got a range of different books in January. Young Adult, Romance, Fantasy, it was just a range of things I love. Like always these are in no order.

Shadow and Bone Boxset: After seeing all the stills and characters I had to get the box set. I’ve read Six of Crows and Crooked and adored it. I’ve been putting off reading this series for a while. But I think it’s time. I don’t know if I will have them read by April, but I want to try to have at least read the first.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken: As soon as I read the synopsis for this one I knew that I needed to read it. I hope that I can get to it soon. It just sounds exactly what I will love to read.

Full Disclosure by Camryn Garrett: This has been on my tbr for some time now, and I finally had the chance to pick it up in January. I’m really excited to start it. It sounds intriguing and something that will be on my mind for some time.

Custom Built (Fast & Fury #1) by Chantal Fernando: I didn’t know that Chantal Fernando was bringing out a new series, so I picked up the first book and sadly wasn’t a massive fan.

My Darling Duke (Sinful Wallflowers #1) by Stacy Reid: I bought this one as I received book 2 for review and wanted to read the first before I dug in. And I am so glad that I did because I adored this book so much.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I’ve been wanting to buy this one for ages, but the paperback is expensive so I’ve held off. But I also want to pick it up soon so I grabbed the ebook. If I end up loving it as much as others are, then I will most likely buy them.

To Love and to Loathe (The Regency Vows #2) by Martha Waters: After my interview with Martha, I knew that I would love to read some of her books, and then I got this one for review. I am so excited to jump in and read. I’ve heard so many good things about it already.

The Spinster and the Rake (Never a Wallflower #1) by Eva Devon: I haven’t heard too much about this author or this book, but it sounds fantastic and I am always here for new historical romances.

The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros: It’s a new Rebecca Yarros do I need to say more? You should all know by now how much I love Yarros’ books and I cannot wait for this one. It’s slightly different to her others but that is what makes me even more excited.

An Earl, the Girl, and a Toddler (Rogues and Remarkable Women #2) by Vanessa Riley: While I didn’t fall in love with the first book of this series, I am very intrigued to see where it is taken. It sounds like it’s going to be interesting and I wanna know what is going to happen next.

And that is it. Those are the books that I got in January. I did so good with my book buying and I’m proud of myself.  but I know that Feb is already not off to a great start – oh well. What did you get in January? Have you checked out my January wrap up too? Let’s Chat!

I Couldn’t Stop Myself | September Haul

I Couldn’t Stop Myself | September Haul

Oct 4, 2020

For the most few months I’ve been trying really hard not to buy books. But September I crumbed and bought too many books for my own good.

I got a lot of books in September. I don’t even know why it kept on happening. But I just couldn’t stop myself from buying more books. There is a mix of YA and romance here. It’s been a while since that has happened. And even though I did buy a fair few books, I’m excited about them all.

Let’s get into it like always these are in no order. I did buy most of my books this month but I also did get a few for review.

Physical Books

Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin: Normally I would have picked this one up after a shift at work, but since I’m still not working. It took a little longer for me to pick this one up. I am so glad that I have it now and hope that I can get to it this month.

A Rogue of One’s Own (A League of Extraordinary Women #2) by Evie Dunmore: This one is similar to Blood & Honey in that it took me a while to get a copy, but I finally did and I’m so excited to read it I adored Bringing Down the Duke, and I’m intrigued to see where the story goes.

Psy-Changeling #3 – #5 and #10 by Nalini Singh: I’m slowly making my way through this series – or trying to. But I love it so much, and because of that, I’m slowly getting my copies of all the books. I was trying to get them in order. However, I found a cheap copy of book 10 – Kiss of Snow and jumped on it. I’m so ready to keep on reading this series.

The Duke and I (Bridgertons #1) by Julia Quinn: I’ve been wanting to start this series for ages and since they are expected to release the series this year, I want to get to it before then. I did purchase this one a few months ago. In saying that my copy has yet to arrive, so I grabbed another copy.

The Governess Game (Girl Meets Duke, #2) by Tessa Dare: After finishing the first book in this series I couldn’t stop myself and had to get all the books that are currently out. I’m so excited to start reading this one.

The Wallflower Wager (Girl Meets Duke #3) by Tessa Dare: This is the last book in the series that is currently out so I grabbed it as well. I adore the covers of this series, they are stunning and now I can look at them all the time.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: I finally got my own copy of The Poet X. I adored this book. Now I have a copy that not only matches my other Elizabeth Acevedo collection. But I have a copy of a book I love.

The Rogue (Devil’s Duke #1) by Katharine Ashe: I don’t know too much about this one. But it sounds like it’s going to be a blast to read, and I found it for a fantastic price.

The Earl (Devil’s Duke #2) by Katharine Ashe: I also grabbed the second book as well, because again I think I’m really going to love this series and I couldn’t stop myself with the fantastic price.

A Most Unlikely Duke (Diamonds in the Rough #1) by Sophie Barnes: I’ve been reading more and more historical romance lately and I wanted to expand my collection and get some new authors. This one sounds like it’s going to be fantastic and I’ve read some great reviews.

The Match of the Century (Marrying the Duke #1) by Cathy Maxwell: This is another one that I don’t know too much about but it sounds great and I didn’t have the will to stop myself from buying it. And I also blame Ely because I was at hers when I got a batch of these books.

Storm and Fury (The Harbinger #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: This book has been on my tbr for a while now. As I’ve started getting back into paranormal/fantasy, it seems the perfect time to pick it up.

Swing by Kwame Alexander with Mary Rand Hess: This is another one that has been on my wish list for a little while now and I managed to find it for a decent price as well. I’m so excited that I will get to read it.

Ebooks

Scoring off the Field (WAGS #2) by Naima Simone: After finishing the first book in this series I quickly jumped at getting the rest of them. I enjoyed reading this series a lot and it was a great sports romance. You can check out my series review now.

Scoring the Player’s Baby (WAGS #3) by Naima Simone: As soon as I finished the second book, I quickly jumped onto the third and it was fantastic. It’s my favourite of the series so far, and I’m really excited to read more from Naima Simone.

Rifts and Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry: I bought the second book in this series as soon as it came out. I haven’t read a Deveny Perry before so I didn’t know what to expect. But I’ve already read it and loved it.

ARCS

Lies & Lullabies (Hush Note #1) by Sarina Bowen: The Hush Note Series finally came out last month. I received an earc of Lies and Lullabies and read it right away. You can check out my review now.

Muses & Melodies (Hush Note #3) by Rebecca Yarros: I also received an earc of this one and you all know me with my Rebecca Yarros. Again I picked it up as soon as it landed on my kindle and it was fantastic.

Tempting Lies (Tempt Me #4) by Sara Whitney: This is the last book that I received in September. I reviewed this one recently and it was a surprise with how much I enjoyed reading it.

And those are all the books I that I picked up in September – I think. I try and keep an eye of what I do buy but sometimes I forget.

What books did you get in September? Were you like me and couldn’t stop yourself and kept on buying? Let’s Chat!

A Little Haul |August Book Haul

A Little Haul |August Book Haul

Sep 2, 2020

It’s time for August Book Haul Time. August was a so so month for me. I purchased a good chunk of books, but I also had a lot finally arrive as well. Compared to some of my montly purchases it’s a little haul for me. They have mostly been romances. As they are harder for me to get from work and I’ve had to source them from other places.

Anyhow, I think it’s a good mix of historical and contemporary romances. They are a few that I purchased physical copies of that I had already read and loved. Enough talk, like always these are in no order.

Visions of Heat (Psy-Changeling #2) by Nalini Singh: Even before reading the first book. I wanted to have the second on hand. And I’m so glad that I did. Because I picked it up as soon as I finished book 1. Would you like to see a series review of these as I read them? Let me know.

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare: I finally got another Tessa Dare this month. I’ve been meaning to pick another one of her books up and I finally did. I’m excited to read it soon. This one sounds fantastic and I’ve heard so many good things.

Brazen and the Beast (The Bareknuckle Bastards #2) by Sarah MacLean: After finishing the first book in this series I knew that I wanted to pick up the rest right away. I feel in love with all the characters from the first book and I’m excited to see where it’s taken here.

Daring and the Duke (The Bareknuckle Bastards #3) by Sarah MacLean: I knew that I would want to binge read the rest of the series. So I picked up the last book as well. I’m intrigued by this one a lot. It’s about the main ‘villain’ and that I find very interesting.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: I think you should all know by now how much I loved this book. But if you don’t. It’s one of my favourite books that I read this year, if not one of my favourite books of all time. My physical copy arrived just before we went into stage 4 lockdown and I just love looking at it.

Someone to Watch Over Me (Bow Street Runners #1) by Lisa Kleypas: I’ve been slowly making my way through Lisa Kleypas and this is the next series that I want to pick up. I’m excited to try something new from her and I hope that I like it as much as her other books.

A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels #1) by Sarah MacLean: I couldn’t help myself and picked up the first book in another series from Sarah MacLean. I can’t wait. This one sounds excited.

Royal Brotherhood #1 – #3 by Sabrina Jeffries: After finishing Sabrina Jeffries Duke Dynasty series. I knew that I wanted to read more from her. So I deiced to pick this series up. I’m a massive binge reader, especially when it comes to romance. So I just got all 3. Deliveries at the moment are pretty bad, so it was just easier this way.

Full Measures (Flight & Glory #1) by Rebecca Yarros: Guess what all? I’m finally getting my physical copies of this series. Do you know how hard and expensive it is to get in Australia? But I took the plunge.

Eyes Turned Skyward (Flight & Glory #2) by Rebecca Yarros: I ended up getting the first two books. I’m slowly going to get the next few books. But just going to take it a few months at a time. Because like I said expensive! But this is one of my favourite romance series so I don’t care.

Scoring With the Wrong Twin (WAGS #1) by Naima Simone: I don’t know too much about this one, but I saw it on twitter and it caught my eye. You know I’m a sucker for sports romances. And I’ve heard good things about Naima Simone. I’ve just started it and I’m liking it so far.

And those are the books that I got in August! After writing this post it does seem like a lot of books. But compared to the rest of the year. This was okay. Plus I paid for 9 I think this month. The rest I’ve just been waiting for.

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
