Book Review : Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Mar 1, 2013

Synopsis: Last year, Annabel was “the girl who has everything” — at least that’s the part she played in the television commercial for Kopf’s Department Store. This year, she’s the girl who has nothing: no best friend because mean-but-exciting Sophie dropped her, no peace at home since her older sister became anorexic, and no one to sit with at lunch. Until she meets Owen Armstrong. Tall, dark, and music-obsessed, Owen is a reformed bad boy with a commitment to truth-telling. With Owen’s help, maybe Annabel can face what happened the night she and Sophie stopped being friends.

My Review
What can i say? This book is simply amazing. It is the first Sarah Dessen Book I have read and i can not wait to read more. I Loved the Character of Annabel, she is strong but then  you see her weakness’. At the start we see her as someone who keeps everything hidden away, but towards the end she because a person some people may see her as weak but i see this as the strongest we see her. I Also LOVE the Character of Owen, he is my kinda guy. Tall, Dark, Handsome, Sexy, Mysterious and into music, what can be better? I love they way he cared for Annabel in his own way, it was cute. I thought the Story line was very strong, and it hit people in many different ways, especially when we find out Annabel’s secret. The Only part that got on my nerves was Owen’s continues of telling Annabel about telling the truth, her just kept on saying it, that  i wanted to punch him in the face.  Don’t get me wrong, i know what telling the truth is good and right but after him saying it alot, it got on my nerves.

My Favourite quotea from this book are;
“Don’t think or judge, just listen.”
“There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you’d better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you’ll never understand what it’s saying.”

I gave this book 4.5 Starts

Book Review : Shadows by Amy Meredith

Mar 1, 2013

Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Eve Evergold is cute, sassy and enjoying a busy social life. What she doesn’t know yet is that someone close to her is an evil demon that only she has the supernatural power to defeat. She needs to work out who it is – and fast! Because although there’s something very attractive about the dark side…dating a demon? Pure hell!

My Review
This book….  what can i say… I did not like the way it was written, the sentences were too short, they are a few words that  it.  I did not like the characters, they were to bland and wrong.  I did not like the story line, sorry it was horrible. Maybe because i am 16 and this was aimed at younger teens, but it was just not written in a way i think a book should be written.

I Gave this book a 1 Star

I am also doing the Eclectic Reader Challenge 2013, this books is in the categories of 6 Urban Fantasy.

Book Review : Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

Feb 19, 2013

Synopsis: Will love conquer all? Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank’s absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels – destroying Patch. Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin. But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated. As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.

My Review
Book 4 and the last of the Hush Hush Series by Becca Fizpatrick is Finale. Finale started off at a good pace, in the middle it was very slowed paced but at the end it made me want to read more. I Love the Character of Patch, he is a little cocky but that is what i like about him and he would do alot for Nora. I also love the Character of Nora, when we first read about her in Hush Hush she is a dependent  and shy girl, but by the end of Finale we can see the changes to a independent and strong Character. She is Very much in love with Patch which i love. I Love the letter that was written to Nora from Patch at the end of the book. I thought it was beautifully written and a really interesting idea. I thought it was a very good ending to a perfect Series.

I Give Finale a 4 out of 5 Stars

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
