‘Not Enough Time’ TBR | Book Tag

‘Not Enough Time’ TBR | Book Tag

Sep 26, 2023

I haven’t done a book tag in a little while and I thought it would be fun to do the ‘Not Enough Time’ TBR Book Tag. This tag was created by Sheri at Read Betwixt Words.

My TBR is long. Really long. For me, my TBR isn’t just the books that I currently own but haven’t read, but for books I also want to read. I don’t buy every book I read in physical or even digital form. I use Kindle Unlimited a lot and do most of my reading there. So my TBR is a mix of physical books I own, and books that I simply want to read. So let’s get into the ‘Not Enough Time’ TBR book tag.

A BOOK YOU KEEP SAYING YOU WILL READ… BUT DON’T

Corrupt (Devil’s Night, #1) by Penelope Douglas has to take this one. I’ve read books from Penelope before and enjoyed them. I like dark romance. I have heard fantastic things about this series. And I just don’t pick it up when I trying to pick what to read. Hopefully soon.

A BOOK YOU KEEP SAYING YOU WILL READ… BUT HAVEN’T

I’ve gone and bought the first 3 books in this series and still haven’t picked it up. But I will. I’ve been wanting to read Gild (The Plated Prisoner, #1) by Raven Kennedy for a while now and I just haven’t picked it up. There is no real reason but I am hoping I can get to it soon.

A BOOK YOU WANT TO READ… BUT DON’T HAVE YET

After finishing the Boys of Brayshaw series a few months ago, I’ve been wanting to pick up Tempting Little Thief (Girls of Greyson, #1) by Meagan Brandy. But I haven’t bought it yet. However it’s now going trad, so I will be picking up very soon I think.

A BOOK THAT YOU HAVEN’T SEEN REVIEWED… BUT SOUNDS GOOD

This one is a little hard for me because a lot of the books I read I see on social media or I pick up on Goodreads. And one of the first things I do is check out the reviews. But one I haven’t seen many reviews for and has been on my TBR for a little while is Do I Know You? by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka.

A BOOK THAT’S BEEN ON YOUR TBR FOR YEARS

So many books. But one I know I want to read is Thicker Than Water by Brigid Kemmerer. This one has been on my TBR for many many years now. And I want to read but I just never pick it up. There is literally no reason why I haven’t picked it up yet.

A BOOK THAT INTIMIDATES YOU… BUT SOUNDS AMAZING

I’ve been wanting to read this one for a little while now. Basically, since it was published. But I don’t read straight fantasy a lot, and each time I go to pick it up. I don’t even open the first page. The Poppy War (The Poppy War, #1) by R.F. Kuang is a book that intimidates me but I’ve heard such amazing things about it. And I will get to it.

A BOOK THAT WAS RECOMMENDED… BUT HAVEN’T HAD A CHANCE TO READ YET

Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, has been recommended to me a few times recently and I am really excited to pick it up. It sounds like it has a lot of tropes that I love, it’s been getting pretty good reviews. And a few people that I know have already recommended it to me. So I’m going to it soon.

A BOOK YOU’RE NOT SURE OF… BUT WILL GIVE A CHANCE

Midnight Kisses by Jeanine Bennedict was all over social media for a moment, some people loved it. Others didn’t. And I’m on the fence about picking it up. It sounds good. It sounds like something that I would enjoy. But I am hesitant to pick it up.

A BOOK YOU WOULDN’T NORMALLY CHOOSE… BUT ARE CURIOUS ABOUT

I don’t read a lot of graphic novels and comics, but Fine Print, Volume 1 by Stjepan Šejić is one I got a while ago and I’m really intrigued by. It sounds like it’s right up my alley and something that I would really enjoy. It sounds like it’s sexy, but also fun and entertaining. I am so here for that.

A BOOK YOU’VE READ… BUT NEED TO FINISH THE SERIES

There are so many that I could have picked for this one but I still need to continue with the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert. I have read Neon Gods and Electric Idol. But I am a little behind in the rest of the series. I have Wicked Beauty on my list for this month. But I don’t think I am going to get to it. So hopefully soon.

A BOOK YOU THINK YOU’LL LOVE… BUT KEEP PASSING UP

I know that  The Serpent and the Wings of Night (Crowns of Nyaxia, #1) by Carissa Broadbent is going to be exactly what I love and want from a book. But I do keep on putting it off. I’m excited to read it though and hopefully, I get to it in the next few months. I have heard amazing things about it. It’s my type of fantasy and I just want to read it.

***

And there we go, that is the ‘not enough time’ TBR book tag. I had a great time doing this tag, and it made me look at my TBR a little more. Don’t forget I am doing read my TBR September this month. I’m having a great time doing it at the moment.

Have you read any of these books on my TBR that I mentioned? What did you think of them? What books are on your TBR? I’m tagging anyone that wants to do this tag! Let’s chat!

‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag

‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag

Mar 26, 2023

It’s been a while since I have done a book tag so I thought that today would be a perfect time. The ‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag was created by Beth at Book Nest. This tag is all about the books that you should have read already. From books people have recommended to you. To books that have been on your tbr for a while.

I have so many books that I say that I should have read by now, or it’s on my tbr. And most of the time I do get to the books, but there are just so many books out here. And with so little time I don’t get to everything. So let’s get into it. Here is the “I Should Have Read That” book tag.

A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read?

I am sitting right next to Ely from Earl Grey Books as I write this post, so I asked her and it’s no surprise that she said Rhapsodic (The Bargainer, #1) by Laura Thalassa. There is no real reason why I haven’t read this one yet. I’ve read from Laura Thalassa before and adored what I did, so I am highly certain I am going to like this one a lot. I do want to get to it soon.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up?

Oh gosh, there could be so many books that I could pick for this one. But Thicker Than Water Brigid Kemmerer has been on my tbr for so many years now and I haven’t read it yet. I don’t even know why. I have loved everything for Brigid Kemmerer that I have read. It’s even more up my alley now in regard to what I am reading. And it just sounds fantastic. I want to try and get to this one by the end of the year.

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet?

This is another one that I could have many answers for, but Waking Gods (Themis Files, #2) by Sylvain Neuvel is one that I have wanted to read for years and just have never gotten around to it. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and it’s one that I am always recommending to people for an audiobook. But I have just not had the chance to continue the series. I do hope to get to it in the future. I just don’t know when.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read?

Ohh, I think it has to go to Paradise Lost by John Milton. I have always been fascinated by this one, but classics aren’t really my thing. And I honestly don’t read many. There might be a day when I just pick this one up.

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read?

I don’t know if you will be surprised by this answer but it has to be It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. I don’t want to read it and I won’t ever read it.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just haven’t read it yet?

I had to really think about this one. Because most of the time I’ve read a lot of the books for film/tv adaptations that I love. But I have yet to read The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I have tried but I think I tried when I was a little too young and I couldn’t get into it. I adore the Lord of the Rings and even the Hobbit movies, I can’t tell you how many times I have watched them. But the books always make me nervous.

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet?

Again there are so many books I could have picked for this one. But Midnight Kisses by Jeanine Bennedict is one that I have been wanting to read for a while and one that I have seen quite a bit on all social media really. I’m really excited to pick it up and hopefully, I can do that soon.

And there we go. That is the ‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag. I had a lot of fun putting this post together and I would love to see your answers. So if you would like to do this tag, go right ahead. What do you think of my answers? Which books should I read soon? Let’s chat!

Summer Reading Tag | Book Tag

Summer Reading Tag | Book Tag

Jan 26, 2023

It’s time for another book tag. It has been a while since I have done one of these and what better day to do the summer reading tag than today? If you don’t know already I live in Australia and it’s definitely hit summer at the moment. It’s quite warm let’s just saw that. This tag was created by Amy Jane Reads. However, the video is no longer active and I found the tag over at Zezee With Books.

I have a love-hate relationship with summer. I love it because I like to swim and go to the beach. But also it does get quite hot here in Melbourne. I didn’t end up doing the whole tag as some questions I didn’t know how to answer some, but let’s get right into the tag.

WHAT THREE BOOKS DO YOU WANT TO READ THIS SUMMER?

There are so many books that I want to read in the next few months. So many. But some of the books on my tbr that I want to at least try and read are; A Deal with the Elf King by Elisa Kova, Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert and Midnight Kisses by Jeanine Bennedict.

WHICH CHARACTER MOST EMBODIES THE TRAITS OF SUMMER?

This was such a hard one for me to pick. I really don’t know. So instead I picked a few books that I have loved that covers remind me of summer. Heartless(Chestnut Springs #2) by Elsie Silver, Laurels and Liquor (Pack Saint Clair #3) by Thora Woods. Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road #1) by Katie McGarry and For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks.

WHAT BOOK/S DO YOU MOST ASSOCIATE WITH THE PHYSICALITY OF SUMMER?

Again this is such a hard question. And I did have to do some digging. But firstly Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes stands out to me. Tennis and Summer are just the pair for me. Plus this book was fantastic. The second one is Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers #1) by Lisa Kleypas. Not only is it one of my favourites but it just reminds me of summer nights.

WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU LIKE TO READ ON HOLIDAY? ANY BOOKS THAT HOLD MEMORIES TO CERTAIN PLACES?

I honestly will read anything on holidays. I’m a mood reader through and through. So I could read something that will make me call my eyes out on a holiday. But I do tend to feel like reading more on the contemporary side of romances during the summer and when I am away on holiday. They are just easy to read. I can go back and forth without having to remember everything.

Some of the books I have read or would love to read again in summer; Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata, Focused (Ward Sisters #1) by Karla Sorensen. Rookie Move (Brooklyn Bruisers #1) by Sarina Bowen and In the Weeds (Lovelight #2) by B.K. Borison.

IF YOU COULD GO ON HOLIDAY WITH ANY AUTHOR, WHO WOULD YOU GO WITH AND WHERE? WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW?

Ohhh. This is just such an interesting one. But I would love to go on a holiday with Cassandra Clare. She has gone to so many magical places and I would love for her to take me on those journeys that she has gone on. I don’t even care where we go.

And there we go! That is the summer reading tag. I had a lot of fun doing this tag and it was a fantastic way to celebrate a hot summer day. What would your answers be? Do you like summer? If you want to do this tag, let me know! Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

IT’S RACE WEEK! 🏎️ If you didn’t know al IT’S RACE WEEK! 🏎️

If you didn’t know already I love F1, have ever since I was younger and decided that this year it would be fun to combined my love for F1 and reading together. 📚

After a week off we are back at it. We are in Miami this week’s and things are only just heating up. This week I’m reading Falling Off the Cliff Kanitha P.

…

Formula 1 legend in the making and rising star Thiago Valencia is chasing redemption as well as his second World Champion title. With a tarnished reputation and an undetermined future in F1 that hangs by a terribly loose thread, he can’t afford to lose his seat. Thiago is ready to do anything to redeem himself and erase his past mistakes. When a mysterious woman intrudes on his private party in Monte Carlo, he is certain the universe has brought his polar opposite into his life as salvation. He is sunshine, she is moonlight; he is a bright star and she is a moonbeam.

Destiny takes the wheel, steering Kamari into Thiago’s orbit, but her open disdain and closely guarded heart warn her to stay away. Enchanted by her charms, Thiago is intent on melting her freezing barriers and tearing down the walls shielding her heart.

When Kamari agrees to help him save his future by being his fake girlfriend, the unexpected happens, triggered by a game of lies, secrets and desire.

As they plunge towards the finish line, the race veers offtrack and neither of them are ready to fall off the cliff.
…

How Race Week Reads Will Work

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
