New-To-Me Authors I’ve Read In 2023 | Part 3

New-To-Me Authors I’ve Read In 2023 | Part 3

Sep 14, 2023

One of the things that I love about reading is trying new-to-me authors and last year I read quite a few of those. I have already read a good chunk this year, and we have a few more months to go. But I didn’t want to just read new-to-me authors, but I wanted to share them with you as well.

So I decided to start a series where I talk a little bit about the new-to-me authors I’ve been reading. You can check out part one and part two now. Reading authors that I haven’t read before is always daunting and exciting at the same time. I am so excited to try an author I haven’t read before. It’s always a risk, but so many times that risk pays off.

So let’s get right into it. Here are more of the new-to-me authors I’ve been reading in 2023. Sometimes I find them through recommendations and sometimes they just pop up as suggestions. And as always these are in no particular order.

Heather Renee: I had the chance to meet Heather earlier this year at BABE. And I knew I wanted to read a few of her books before the event. I ended up reading her Luna Marked series and enjoyed it quite a bit. I picked up a few of her books up from the event and cannot wait to dig in.

Emily Rath: Emily has been all over TikTok the last few months, and earlier this year I picked up That One Night and Pucking Around and enjoyed them. I have since picked up the next book in the series and plan on reading some of her historical fiction.

Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue: I’m including these two together because I’ve only read the books books they have written together. I really enjoyed their The Royals of Forsyth University series. I’ve read the first two completed series and plan to read the rest. They are dark, and sexy and sometimes just what I want.

Devyn Sinclair: This is another author that I picked up for an event. This time it was for RARE Melbourne at the start of the year. I knew I was going to like this author right away, and then I met her in person and she was just as nice. I’ve now Knot Your Damn Omega and Knot All that Glitters and I plan to read more.

Lana Ferguson: I read Lana’s first book The Nanny earlier this year. And while I didn’t love it. I still did enjoy it quite a bit. And I am so excited for her next book. It’s more my style and I think I am going to love it.

Sheridan Anne: Sheridan has been on my TBR for some time now and I was able to pick up some of her books at RARE and BABE. I read the first in her Kings of Denver series and plan to read more. I’m excited about her darker series too.

K. Loraine and Meg Anne: I have had an up-and-down reading experience with these two authors. I’ve now read the whole of the The Mate Games series. And while I did enjoy it, I didn’t love it. I do plan on reading more from these two. I just don’t know when exactly.

Odette Stone: Odette is another author who has been on my TBR for a while now. I finally picked Puck Me Secretly and had a fantastic time. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series for sure. And maybe some of her other books.

And there we go. Those are some more of the new-to-me authors that I picked up so far in 2023. I had a good range of new-to-me authors that I picked up. I’m excited to read more from these authors and ready to read even more.

Have you read any of these authors? What did you think of them? Have you read any new-to-you authors this year? Let’s chat!

New-To-Me Authors I’ve Read In 2023 | Part 2

May 14, 2023

One of the things that I love about reading is trying new-to-me authors and last year I read quite a few of those. Already in 2023, I’ve read a good chunk of authors that I haven’t read before and I wanted to share them with you. You can check out the first part of this series which I did earlier this year.

Reading authors that I haven’t read before is always daunting and exciting at the same time. I am so excited to try an author I haven’t read before, but I also have no idea how it will go. And that is the joy of reading.

So here we go let’s get right into it. Here are more of the new-to-me authors I have already tried in 2023, from ones that have been on my tbr for a while to authors that I have just found. There are some authors on here that I have already read multiple books from and some that I might not try again. And as always these are in no particular order.

Becca Steele: I’m still not sure how I feel about Becca Steele yet. I read the first two books in the Alstone High series and liked them enough to finish them. But I’m not too sure if I am going to read more. We will see

Kat Blackthorne: I came across this author randomly and I am so glad that I did. I read Ghost and ended up really loving it. I am so excited to read the rest of the series before. Kat just writes that I love; paranormal, why choose and a little dark. Yes, thank you.

Harper A. Brooks: I picked up Harper A. Brooks because she is going to BABE next month and I’m so glad about that. It’s a very old-school paranormal romance and something I forget I loved. I’m really excited to read more.

Maggie Alabaster and Jo Bradley: Since the first time I read both of these was by reading their co-authored books. I really enjoyed reading the Saving Abby series and I’m intrigued to read more. This is a why choose, with a rocker romance.

Gemma Weir: I read Gemma before RARE and I didn’t want to stop. I had a lot of fun reading the Montana Mountain Men and I’m really excited to continue this series. It’s full of grumpy, possessive, alpha males from a small town.

Trish Heinrich: This is another one of the authors that I just stumbled around and I am really glad that I did. I was expecting to like Bound as much as I did. I am excited to read more from Trish Heinrich, especially in this series.

Helen Scott: Is an author that I will be meeting at BABE so I wanted to give her books a try before I bought any. And I ended up enjoying the one I read a lot. I not only want to continue this series but also may try something else too.

Cassie Laelyn: Another BABE author that I tried out and ended up really enjoying. I read the first book in the Small Town Packs series and I loved that it was short and sweet. It hit the right post and I am super excited for more.

And there we go. Those are some more of the new-to-me authors that I picked up so far in 2023. I had a good range of new-to-me authors that I picked up. I’m excited to read more from these authors and ready to read even more.

Books I’ve Already Loved This Year

Books I’ve Already Loved This Year

Apr 9, 2023

We are already going into 4 months of the year, so I thought it would be fun today to share some of my favourite reads so far. As of the 7th of April, I have read 72 books. I’m kind of shocked about but I have just constantly been reading. I’ve had some highs and some lows in terms of what I’ve read. But overall it’s been a pretty good year so far.

While it’s no surprise everything I have been reading has been romance. Which I am loving. I have also been trying to read as many books from authors that are attending events that I am going to. So it’s been a pretty fun year so far.

But let’s get into here. Here are some of the books that I am already loving in 2023. As always these are in no order. Please also check trigger and content warnings for each book.

The Kraken’s Sacrifice (A Deal With a Demon, #2) by Katee Robert: I knew that I was going to like this one before I even picked it up. And I wasn’t disappointed. This is a mix of sweet and sexy tied with a very emotional story. This is a monster romance that hits the spot.

Where Good Girls Go To Die (Good Girls, #1) by Holly Renee: I wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did, but right from the start I was drawn in. This was more of a slower burn than I thought it was going to be. It’s not slow, but it takes a little more time. Which I liked.

The Wrong Bride (The Windsors, #1) by Catharina Maura: This had been on my tbr for a while and I picked it up because I’m seeing Catharina this month! I loved reading this book. It was exactly what I was looking for and it was delivered. I’m so excited to read the rest of the series and even more books from Catharina.

Final Offer (Dreamland Billionaires, #3) by Lauren Asher: This is no doubt one of my favourite books of the year. It’s my favourite of the series. This was sexy, sweet and oh-so emotional. The romance was hot and heavy, but also slow and sexy at the same time. It was nice seeing these two fall in love again.

Death Wish (Reaper Reborn, #1) by Harper A. Brooks: I hadn’t heard much about this book before I picked it up recently. But I ended up really enjoying it. It wasn’t as smutty as I was expecting, but I still had a fantastic time reading it.

Maniac (Necessary Evils, #7) by Onley James: I’ve been waiting for this book since when I started this series and I wasn’t disappointed. Maniac is full of angst, smut and lots of violence. But it was a fantastic end to the series.

Heartless (Chestnut Springs, #2) by Elsie Silver: This is actually a re-read. I read this late last year, but with the new book coming out I wanted to read the first and third book for the first time. I ended up loving this one just as much as the first time, a grumpy single dad is what I need.

And there we go. Those are some of my favourite reads so far this year. From new to me authors to some I already love. I’ve already had a pretty good year and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year brings. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading any of these? What are some of the books that you have loved this year.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
