End of Year Survery 2015

Welcome, welcome to the End of Year survey 2015. This survey is hosted by the lovely Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner.

I love doing this survey cause I can talk about all the books that I read throughout the year. I can fangirl and just spread the love for books that I couldn’t put down, made me smile and cry. I look forward to doing this survey every year now, it’s so fun to write my post and comment on everyone else’s. I like seeing what people love, what they didn’t like and I get to put more books on my TRB.

So here we go. This is going to be a long post, so get a coffee, tea or what you like to drink and get comfy.

I am actually pretty happy with the amount of books that I have read this year – it’s less than a lot of other bloggers but hey. This also doesn’t included any re-reads. More books might be added to this in the next couple of days though.

I love re-reading. I don’t know what it is but it’s fun re-reading books and find new stuff that I didn’t read before. So I think the number of books that I re-read in 2015 is 30.

I read quite a couple of contemporary books this year but I still think that Fantasy tops it.

Okay, okay I couldn’t just pick one, so I have broken all of these down. I love all these books for many different reasons and everyone should read them if you haven’t.

Fantasy: The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski | Review

New Adult: Confess by Colleen Hoover | Review

Crime: Every Series by Ellie Marney | Every Breath, Every Word, Every Move.

Contemporary: No Where but Here by Katie McGarry | Review

Mythology: Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan | Review

Science Fiction: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer | Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Winter (Which I haven’t read yet)

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

I didn’t hate this book at all, but I didn’t love it. I heard so many things about it and I thought that I was going to love it like everyone else did, however I did like it. I just couldn’t really connect with the book like everyone else did.

Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I didn’t expect to love this series as much as I did. I am not the biggest sci-fi/Alien fan – so I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the book, however I really loved them.

I don’t normally push books, if someone ask for a recommend a books, but I normally ask what they like to read or watch and then I can work out what I think they will like.

Best Series Started: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and No where but Here by Katie McGarry

Best Sequel: The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski

Best Series Ender: The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead | Review

Ellie Marney – Seriously the Every Series is fab, amazing and perfect. And Ellie is so nice and beautiful. When ever we go to the same events she comes and talks to me – it’s amazing.

Magus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan | Review

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Both of these series are unputdownable, I just kept on reading and reading. They were so good.

All the 5 Star books haha. I really don’t know. I re-read a lot, but it’s like a feel in the moment kind of thing so I never really plan it.

This Book for Sure – I would laughing nearly the whole book it was amazing.

I cry a lot in books. I am a baby, the littlest things make me cry. Nearly every book made me cry. But the three books below made me cry the most.

Lorali by Laura Dockrill: Is unique to it’s core. From the writing style, to the story line. It was such an unique read. |Review

The lovely Cait from Paperfury. Her posts are amazing, I also read her reviews and her discussions are always something that I have to comment on.

The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

I loved doing my If you like this book, you’ll like this book post.

The Goodreads challenge of course – I hope to read 60 books this year and I read 88 – pretty proud of myslef. haha.

Discussion: Please Stop Plagiarising

Recently I have seen from quite a few fellow bloggers that there has been some issues. This issue hits close to home; I’m a writer, I want to be an author and if this ever happened to me, I would be devastated.

If you don’t know what I am talking about I’ll break it down. What I’m talking about is the fact that some people are copying and stealing reviews from other people and it’s a thing called plagiarising.

This isn’t right in any way, shape, or form. I don’t understand how people can do this. It’s not the fact that it’s not right (because it’s not), the fact is that it’s unfair.

It’s unfair to the original creator. They spend their own time, reading and then writing their review. A review doesn’t take 5 minutes.

First, the blogger has to read the book. This can take from 2 hours to 3 to 4 days. It all depends on how big the book is, how fast the bloggers reads, or how much time they have to read. Since you know, bloggers do have lives.

Then the bloggers have to write the review. This is different for each and every one of us. All bloggers write their reviewers differently. Some create graphics, or make/find gifs. Other bloggers are creative with their reviews. Others just write. However, each of these can take from an hour to a couple of days.

We don’t just write up a review in 5 minutes and publish it. We have to write it, create it, and edit it. We put a lot of work into our reviews, for you guys to read. But when people go and steal what we have taken our time doing and post it as their own. Hurts. It hurts like hell.

Yes, things like this happen in the world, but I don’t understand why it needs to happen. If you are not going to take your own time to read and review a book or movie – then don’t bother with blogging. I’m not trying to sound mean – but it’s the truth. If you don’t take the time to do the work, then don’t bother with blogging.

Nevertheless, if you are stealing someone else’s reviews are claiming them as your own; please stop. If you see someone that has been doing this, please let the person know that their reviews have been copied. If it’s on goodreads or amazon – then send them an email.

Do the right thing.

I love to read. Most of you guys reading this love to read. But there is some people who just cannot do it.

I think the reason for most people don’t like to read is because they haven’t found the right one to start with. It could also be because of school. I hated nearly all the books that I read it high school for many reason, from that I couldn’t related to the fact that I had to ‘study’ the book.

So today, I’m going to give all you non-readers and readers some YA book recommendations with a little twist. A lot more people watch movies and tv shows than they do read books, so I’m going to give you ‘if you liked this movie/TV Shows – you will like this book.’ I have not included the book adaptations of some of these movies.

I hope that you enjoy and maybe read a few of these.
