2017 YA Showcase Wrap Up: Part 1

Dec 10, 2016

ya-showcase-wrap-up

On Tuesday, I went to the annual Centre for Youth Literature Showcase. It’s an event where publishers around Australia highlight some of their books coming in the new year. After going to the showcase last year, I was quick on the mark to get tickets for the 2017 showcase and it was worth it. With 14 publishers present, we were introduced to many books to come, some I already knew and some that now, I cannot wait to read.

It’s a great event for libraries, bloggers and readers alike. The YA Showcase is great to know what books are coming, but also it’s an amazing event to talk with people from the industry. Bloggers are always talking with publishers and authors from behind the screen, but it’s a fantastic thing to sometimes know what they look like.

Because there were a lot of books talked about, I’m not going to go in-depth on all of them. However, I’ve selected a few that I cannot wait to get my hands on and devour. Some of the ones that I have highlighted don’t have covers yet, but I cannot wait to see what is to come.

I’ve also decided to split this wrap-up into two parts. There was a lot of books talked about and I don’t want any of you to get bored.  You can now check out part 2. bloomsbury-icon

Event Wrap Up – 2016: The Year Ahead in Youth Literature

Dec 2, 2015

Last night I headed on a train towards the city for the third time in three weeks for book events. It’s been a weeks full of bookish events and I have really loved them all but the Centre for Youth Literature, 2016:  The Year Ahead in Youth Literature.

youth lit

Let me tell you 2016 is going to be an epic year. There is some many amazing books coming out that I just can’t wait to get my hands on everything. I am going to need more money and room to get what is coming out in the new year.

Though they were running a little late it was all worth in the end. Everyone was given a book on the way in and I was lucky enough to grab Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Which can I am so excited about. Then they had some tables set up where we pamphlet from most of the publishers, we also got to grab a copy of A Corner Of White by Jaclyn Moriarty.

After everyone was seated the event started. Each publisher had 5 minutes to talk about some books that they have coming on in 2016. I am not going to talk about every single book that was talked about last night because the post about be way too long. But here we go.
