Quotes From My Favourite Reads

Quotes From My Favourite Reads

Sep 29, 2020

This week I’m sharing quotes from my favourite books. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I love finding quotes that I love, especially when they come from some of my favourite books. So today I’m sharing that some of my favourite quotes, from some of my favourite books. I tried to do a mix match of older and new books. As well as books that I have read over different years. Enough of this let’s get into it.

You’re too precious to put into words. I think … it’s like one of Theodore’s buttons. If you asked him why he cared about them so, he would tell you it’s because they exist at all.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: You all know that I adore this book, and I could include multiple if not the whole book as some of my favourite quotes. It’s simply perfect. I just love this quote so much though. It just makes me smile. Full Review

When has anyone ever told me I had the right to stop it all
without my knuckles, or my anger, with just some simple words.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: This book is simply amazing. I listen to it on audio and went into a trance. The power behind each word, each thought hits you in the guys. It’s such an incredible read. Full Review

You ever consider that maybe you not supposed to ‘fit’? People who make history rarely do.

Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1) by Nic Stone: An emotional read, but it’s also powerful and beautiful. Justyce was such a fantastic protagonist. He felt real and honest and that made for such an incredible read. Full Review.

Moments. Just moments, one after the other. You only have to hold it together for one moment at a time.

This is How We Change the Ending by Vikki Wakefield: This book made me feel so many things from anger to hope. From sadness to being proud. This poignant coming of age story that captures the lives of those that struggle day by day.

There’s no end to my love for you. It’s woven into the very fabric of my soul so even when our bodies die, we’ll still never stop lovin

After the Fall (The Fallen Men #4) by Giana Darling: This book tore me to pieces, it’s an emotional rollercoaster that is for sure. There is so much hurt and heartbreak, the ending years me apart every time that I read it. But this quote sums up how much I adore the romances. Check out my interview with Giana Darling as part of my review Romance Thursdays series.

We can either breathe through the pain or we can let it shape us.

The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros: I can’t think about this book and not be in pain. But it’s the pain that just makes you want to keep on reading. This has to be my favourite Rebecca Yarros book and it’s one that everyone should read. Full Review.

These pictures are my heart. And if my heart was a canvas, every square inch of it would be painted over with you.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare: Oh gosh this book and this series are just brilliant. At the moment they are my favourite of hers, but I won’t know until all the series are finished. There are so many amazing moments in this series, but this quote wraps it up nicely.

I’m not short,” Daisy muttered. “Short women are never mysterious, or elegant, or pursued by handsome men. And they’re always treated like children. I refuse to be short.

Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers #1) by Lisa Kleypas: This right here is why I love Lisa Kleypas so much. I just love it so much, it’s funny and entertaining, but the romances are also fantastic and emotional.

Someone else’s choice doesn’t change who you are.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston: This is a book that I’m always recommending to customers. It’s that perfect gateway from young adult to new adult romance. That is also easy to find. I’m so excited to pick up her new book for sure.

Those seconds, half seconds, that the line of our gaze connected, were the only moment in my day that I felt anything at all.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller: This is a book that I still think about after finishing it. It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking read that tears me apart. But I could re-read it all the time.

And that is it! Those are quotes from some of my favourite books! Do we share any that is the same? Have you read any of these books? Do you love quotes as much as I do? Let’s Chat!

Books On My Spring 2020 TBR

Books On My Spring 2020 TBR

Sep 22, 2020

This week I’m sharing on my spring tbr. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

While most of the world is going into Autumn/Fall, here in Australia we are going into spring. These are the books I would love to get to in the next few months. Some of these are new releases, some are older books that I hope to get to before December. It’s just a mix-match of books that I cannot wait to dig into. Like always these are no order.

Rifts and Refrains (Hush Note #2) by Devney Perry and Muses & Melodies (Hush Note #3) by Rebecca Yarros: These are next two books in the Hush Note series, the first book was written by Sarina Bowen and was released today! I enjoyed it quite a bit – my review is coming soon. And I can’t wait to read more of these characters and the world.

A Rogue of One’s Own (A League of Extraordinary Women #2) by Evie Dunmore: There is no surprise that this one is one my list. I loved Bringing Down the Duke and I’m so excited to read this one. I already have my copy and will be reading it next month for sure. Seeing where this story goes makes me intrigued. I think this is the perfect book for spring.

Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin: Again these should be no surprise that this one is one my list. I love Serpent & Dove last year. I’m hoping that it’s as good as the first book. But I have been reading mixed things.

Spring TBR: The Midnight Lie CoverThe Midnight Lie (The Midnight Lie #1) by Marie Rutkoski: I have had this one since it was published, but have yet yo get to it. My plan is to read it soon – I hope. I’m really excited about it, I just haven’t’ been in the fantasy mood, but I feel that I’m getting there.

One by Sarah Crossan: This is one of the last books that I have left to read on my best friend picks my tbr. I’m really excited about this one but also really nervous. It’s going to be emotional for sure and I hope that I am ready for it.

Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep #1) by Mira Grant: I think this will be the perfect book for me to read in October. This isn’t my usual thing. However, it intrigues me want to try it out. Horror isn’t something that I like to watch or read. But that is why it has caught my eye.

Spring TBR: Daring and the Duke CoverDaring and the Duke (The Bareknuckle Bastards #3) by Sarah MacLean: I’ve loved the first two books in this series and I need to get to reading the third. I have heard nothing but good things about it. And I’m so excited that we have the ‘villain’ as the male protagonist.

The Governess Game (Girl Meets Duke #2) by Tessa Dare: I read the first book in this series a few weeks ago and fell in love and now I want to read the rest of the series. This one sounds like it’s going to be fantastic. Plus these covers are stunning!

A Lesson in Thorns (Thornchapel #1) by Sierra Simone: This has been on my tbr for a little while now. It has been popping up all over the place and that makes me even more interested. I have no idea if I’m going to like it or not, but I want to try and see how I feel about it. Even if I don’t like it I think it’s going to be an interesting read.

Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters #1) by Talia Hibbert: This has been on my list for a while now. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and I think it will be the perfect spring read. It looks like it’s going to be fun, full of romance.

That’s it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. What is on your tbr for the next couple of months? Are you in spring or fall? Let’s Chat!

Top Ten Favourite Covers of 2020

Top Ten Favourite Covers of 2020

Sep 15, 2020

This week I share my favourite covers of 2020. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

As 2020 is nearing its end – thank gosh – I thought it would be fun to share some of my favourite covers of 2020. Some of these are from books that I have read, and some I just love the cover. Like always these are in no order. Let’s Go.

A King So Cold by Ella Fields: I love the colours in this one. It’s very whimsy and stunning. It’s simple but also stands out. I would love to have a physical copy of this one.

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo: I love the boldness of this cover. I enjoy both the US and AUS cover. But the Australian/UK cover is just stunning. I love the pink and yellow, with the faces. It all works so well.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: This is not only my favourite book of the year but one of my favourite covers. It highlights the quirkiness of the book but also brings in the soft colours as well. It even looks better in person. I think it’s gorgeous.

Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1) by Cassandra Clare: Clare’s covers have been up and down for me. But this series is going to be stunning. Chain of Gold’s cover is just beautiful. The colour palette works beautifully.

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels #6) by Lisa Kleypas: This cover just reminds me of a fairytale and I love it. The blue is bold and works well with the yellows and golds. It just reminds me of cinderella and I love that.

Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin: How can you not love this cover? It’s interesting and intriguing. I love the combo of red, gold and black. And it looks brilliant with the first book.

favourite covers 2020

Legendborn (Legendborn #1) by Tracy Deonn: This is a cover that I have only seen recently but it’s stunning. I love everything about it. I like the colour contrast. The way that everything flows. It’s just perfect.

Burn Our Bodies Down by Rory Power: As soon as I saw this cover it caught my eye. The orange is in your face, but I like it. It sets the mood. I like the way that the leaves flow and how it becomes one with the figure’s hair.  And then how it intertwines with the title.

Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron: I’m liking covers with very few colours this year. This cover just works so well with everything else in the novel. I love the depth that we get from the trees in the background. Then the flow of the dress and hair. I love it.

favourite covers 2020

Not So Pure and Simple by Lamar Giles: This cover is at stand out for me. It’s different, but nothing too crazy. It’s just interesting. I like how it all fits and doesn’t feel wrong. It just looks cool.

And that is it for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! What have been some of your favourite covers of 2020? Do we share any that is the same? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
