My Last 5 Reads #3

My Last 5 Reads #3

Oct 28, 2020

I haven’t done one of these in a while but I thought I would share my last 5 reads. After a slow few weeks, I’m finally back to reading every day – which I think is fantastic. My last 5 reads have been a mix of first-time reads and some re-read. Enough of this let’s get into it.

Ice Planet Honeymoon: Raahosh & Liz (Ice Planet Barbarians #2.5) by Ruby Dixon: I started this series a few weeks ago and they are addicting and I can’t stop reading them. This is a decent novella. I liked knowing more about what happened to Raahosh and Liz.

Barbarian Lover (Ice Planet Barbarians #3) by Ruby Dixon: This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed this one the most out of the series so far. Everything just seemed to work better for me. I’ve enjoyed the books so far, but this one just seemed that everything fit.

The Darkest Hour (KGI #1) by Maya Banks: This is the first re-read on my list. I felt like some good romantic suspense and my mind kept on going back to this series, so I decided to start re-read them. This series is addicting and I couldn’t put down the first one after I started.

No Place to Run (KGI #2) by Maya Banks: Once I finished the first book I had to jump onto the second. This one is just as good and I love the intensity of romance suspense/Military fiction. It just makes for a great read that I can’t put down. This series isn’t for everyone though. Because there are some pretty hard moments to read.

Addictive (Houston Defiance MC #2) by K.E. Osborn: I’ve been wanting to read this since I finished reading Osborn’s books earlier this year. The one that the first book in this series ended left me wanting more and I enjoyed this one. I didn’t love it, and there a few things I had problems with, but overall it was good.

And that is it for today’s post. What have you read lately? Have you read any of the books that I have? Let’s Chat!

My Last 5 Reads #2

My Last 5 Reads #2

Aug 20, 2020

A few weeks ago I shared some of my last reads. I had heaps of fun with that post that I thought I would do it again today. At the moment, I’m not reading a lot. I just don’t know what I feel like reading at the moment. And that is deciding what to pick up, hard. And I just end up staring at my shelves and never make up my mind.

So my last 5 reads have been a mix match of books – but I’ve ended up liking them all. I also re-read two books. I find that when I’m in a slump, re-reading is a great way to get out of it. Like always these are in no order.

Through the Storm (Le Veq Family #1) by Beverly Jenkins: I finally picked up another Beverly Jenkins and gosh I loved it so much. This was full of hate to love and it made me smile a whole lot. It did take me a little while to get into the novel but after maybe 40 pages. I couldn’t stop reading. I love the LeVeq family so much and it was fantastic hearing about Sable and Raimond romance. They just melted me. I love that the reader gets to see them slowly fall for one another.

Lick (Stage Dive #1) by Kylie Scott: Like I said I felt like doing some re-reads recently and this is the one I picked up. It’s a fun book to read. It’s not a series that I always recommend to others. But if you like your rocker romances then this will be for you. This book just makes me smile a lot. The romance is also so good. This is one of those series that just make everything fun.

Winds of the Storm (Le Veq Family #2) by Beverly Jenkins: After finishing Through the Storm I picked this one up. I think this may be my least favourite in the series so far – but I still love it. Archer Le Veq was seriously a fantastic male protagonist and he just made me laugh so much. One of my favourite things about this one is the banter between the brothers. I have one last book in the LeVeq family series to read and I can’t wait!

Play (Stage Dive #2) by Kylie Scott: This is my favourite book from the series, so I had to pick it up after finishing Lick. This book is all over the place but it’s fantastic. I love the romance of this one so much. Mal and Anne are adorable together and they just melt me. It was a great book to re-read.

Prince Charming (Royals #1) by Rachel Hawkins: This one is my latest read and when I picked it up I was looking for a fun and romantic YA read. And that is what I got. I do wish that it was a little longer though. I felt that the romance could have been expanded one a little bit, but I smiled the whole time reading it. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series though.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
