Latest Additions Added To My Goodreads TBR #2

Latest Additions Added To My Goodreads TBR #2

May 11, 2020

Today I thought I would share some of the latest books I’ve added to my Goodreads TBR. I use my Goodreads ‘to be read’ shelf for books that I don’t always own, but I want to try and maybe read. It’s a place for me to keep updated in the books that have caught my eye or are sequels to books that I love and series that I’m reading.

There is a range of romance and young adult here. But it is mostly romance that normally makes this list. With YA. I normally buy it pretty quickly or know what I want to read. With romance, I normally like to read reviews a little more and have a better understanding before I pick the book up.  Anyway, let’s get into it. Like always these are in no particular order.

A King So Cold by Ella Fields: I honestly don’t know too much about this one here. It kept on popping up on a couple of my social media feeds and I’m intrigued. This is a new release so I want to wait for a little bit and read some more reviews before I pick this one up. It does sound on the darker side and I’ve had some ups and downs with it recently so I want to wait that little bit longer. But also look at that cover!

Lust (The Elite Seven #1) by Ker Dukey: This isn’t just the book that has intrigued but the whole series as a whole. I’m interested to see how everything plays out in this series. The reviews and ratings range for each book. Some are higher than others. And I think that I might give this one a go. Soon.

Fire In His Blood (Fireblood Dragon #1) by Ruby Dixon: I spoke about this one briefly in my current Kindle Unlimted books. I’ve been more interested in fantasy romance and I want to read more. And this series came up quite a bit. I don’t know how I’m going to feel about it. But I want to give it a go for sure.

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller: As soon as I read the synopsis of this one I knew that I wanted to pick it up. It sounds right up my alley and something that I love reading in a young adult. It’s been getting mixed reviews, but I’ve got it on loan from my library so I cannot wait to pick it up and see for myself.

The Happy Ever After Playlist (The Friend Zone #2) by Abby Jimenez: I’ve started to see reviews pop up all over the place of this one and it sounds so good! It sounds adorable and something that I just want to read. Now, I haven’t read the first book in this series, so please tell me if I need to. The first book doesn’t catch me like this one though.

Hero (Morgan Brothers #1) by Lauren Rowe: This is another book that I spoke about in my KU post. But again, I’m interested in this one. And sometimes I just feel like a general romance book and this one feels like it’s going to be that. And I’ve heard good things about this series as well.

They Went Left by Monica Hesse: It wasn’t going to be a post from me if it didn’t include a historical fiction novel. This one sounds like it’s going to break me into tiny little pieces, but I’m ready for that. I love reading books set around World War II. It’s something that has always interested me and I can’t wait to read this one.

Date Me, Bryson Keller by Kevin van Whye: I’m not sure I’m ready for all the cuteness of this book. But I also feel that it’s going to hurt. It is just going to give all the emotions. However, this book is either going to go two ways for me. I’m going to love it or I’m going to hate it. But I can’t wait to read it.

A Lesson in Thorns (Thornchapel #1) by Sierra Simone: I’ve been debating picking up this book and series for some time now. It’s been getting some attention recently and I keep on seeing it. This is another one that I think I will either love or hate. I think I do need to be in the mode for it though. So I might just wait till then.

Meet Cute Club (Sweet Rose #1) by Jack Harbon: I hadn’t heard much about this book until a few weeks ago when it popped up in the ‘Readers Also Enjoyed’ thing on Goodreads. But it sounds adorable and so interesting. I love that is about books and M/M. It sounds like an utterly cute romance and I’m ready for that.

And that is it for this post! What are some of the books that you have recently added to your Goodreads TBR? Do we share any that is the same? Are you planning on reading any of these books? Have you? Let’s Chat!

YA Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2020

YA Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2020

Mar 29, 2020

Sorry for the lack of most in the last two weeks, everything is just a little crazy at the moment and a lot if happening all the time. But today I thought I would share with you some of the 2020 YA books on my TBR.

Last year I didn’t really read much YA, but I really want to go back to reading as much as I can. And I’ve already done that heaps this year. But here we are, like always these are in no order.

Bonds of Brass (The Bloodright Trilogy #1) by Emily Skrutskie: This one sounds so fascinating and intriguing. I’m not a massive science fiction reader, but I feel this is something that I’m really going to enjoy. There sounds like there is going to battles and romance dripped throughout and I’m ready.

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales: I saw a couple of things about this book before it came out, but I never really checked it out. And then I read the synopsis and it’s right up my alley and I can’t wait to read this one. Plus its #LoveOzYA.

Of Curses and Kisses (St. Rosetta’s Academy #1) by Sandhya Menon: This one caught my eye from the start. Again it sounds like something that I would love and it’s a beauty and the beast retelling. Yes, please. I’ve enjoyed Sandhya Menon books in the past and I’m really looking forward to picking this one up.

Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett: There is no doubt that this one is on my TBR. I love Jenn Bennett’s books and this one sounds like it’s made for me. A bad boy, former best friends, and some trouble. The romance is going to be perfect, the characters are going to be just right and I need this book now.

None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney: A new Ellie Marney? Yes, please. Again this is another one that I didn’t have to think twice before adding it to my list. I’ve adored all of the Ellie Marney books that I’ve read before and I have no doubt that this will be the same. Said to be a mix of The Silence of the Lambs and Sadie, I don’t even know where to start.

Incendiary (Hollow Crown #1) by Zoraida Córdova: I only recently found out about this one and I’m so intrigued. It sounds like it’s right up my alley and has everything that I’m looking for in a young adult fantasy. Set in the 15th century Spain, I’m so looking forward to something different in YA fantasy and this seems like it might be it.

Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin: Serpent & Dove was one of my favourite books from last year and now I can’t wait to see where this story is taken. It could go anywhere and I’m so not ready for it. Plus look at that cover! It’s gorgeous right?

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights #1) by Chloe Gong: This one caught my eye late last year and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. YA fantasy has been hit and misses for the last year, but this one seems it’s for me. A mix of fantasy and historical fiction, yes thank you.

All These Monsters (Monsters #1) by Amy Tintera: I haven’t read an Amy Tintera in years! But when this popped up in my feed, it caught my eye right away. I’ve really enjoyed her books before and this has already intrigued me. She always writes books that stand out in a way and I think this one will and I can’t wait to find out why.

The Upside of Falling by Alex Light: I’m always up for some young adult contemporary. I don’t know what it is, but it has this feel about that always makes me happy and this one sounds adorable! Add in fake dating and this one is for me.

The Midnight Lie (The Midnight Lie #1) by Marie Rutkoski: I’m so ready to dive back into Marie Rutkoski’s world and fall in love with new characters. I’ve adored everything about Rotkoski books before and I can’t wait to fall in love with these characters as well. It’s been a long time since I’ve read something by her and I’m ready.

Breath Like Water by Anna Jarzab: You all know how I love my sports romances and this one sounds adorable and beautiful and I exactly what I love. But I also think it’s going to make me cry and I’m not ready for that.

Latest Books Added to my Goodreads TBR

Latest Books Added to my Goodreads TBR

Mar 10, 2020

I’m always adding new books to my Goodreads TBR, so today I thought I would share some of the latest books that I’ve added to it. Some of these books I have recently got, while some are books that I want to read.

I normally use my Goodreads TBR to help keep track of books that I want to read, not as something for the books that I own. It’s just so much easier being able to keep track of something that catches my eye.

Fresh Ink: An Anthology edited by Lamar Giles: I’ve been really getting into anthologies recently and this one caught my eye immediately. Thirteen diverse authors bend the rules and explore new stories.

Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft edited by Tess Sharpe and Jessica Spotswood: This one sounds like it’s perfect for me. A mix of stories from contemporary to historical featuring witchy heroines. These stories look at the mythology behind witchcraft from different backgrounds and cultures.

Meet Cute: Some People Are Destined to Meet: An anthology filled with romance – yes, please. It features stories of ‘how they first met’ and I can’t wait.

Love Hard (Hard Play #3) by Nalini Singh: I have yet to read a Nalini Singh book yet, but I think this might be the one that gets me. While it’s the 3rd in the series, I think I can start here. It sounds like a sports romance that I will love.

The Upside of Falling by Alex Light: This one sounds totally adorable and I am ready. A fake romance, that could turn into something more. Plus complicated past. I’m so in. This one just popped up on my Goodreads feed and I had to add it to my TBR.

Peta Lyre’s Rating Normal by Anna Whateley: I’ve already read a little of this and I can’t wait to read more. This one sounds totally adorable, but it also sounds like it’s going to punch me in the gut. Plus it’s a #LoveOzYA.

The Blackbird Girls by Anne Blankman: I really want to read some middle grade this year and this sounds perfect for me. A historical fiction set around Chernobyl, throw in a new friendship and secrets. As soon as I read the synopsis I had to add it to my Goodreads TBR.

Dirt Circus League by Maree Kimberley: Haven’t heard much about this one at all, except that it is a mix of a slice of Australian paranormal fantasy and surrealism, with doses of doomed romance. I cannot wait to get into this.

Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin: I cannot wait to get this book in my hands. I adored Serpent & Dove and I cannot wait to see where the story is taken and what happens next. However, this one does come out till September.

The Other Side of the Sky (The Other Side of The Sky #1) by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner: This one grabbed my attention right from the start. It sounds like something that I will love and I cannot wait to get to reading it. A mix of magic and science fiction. I’m so in.

And that is it for this post! What are some of the books that you have recently added to your Goodreads TBR? Do we share any that is the same? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
