A Month Away | Preparing for My Trip

A Month Away | Preparing for My Trip

May 1, 2019

Today I’m posting something a little different. But I thought it would be something to speak with you all about. On the 13th of May, I’m heading on a nearly month adventure overseas. The furthest I’ve ever gone from Australia is Hawaii – which mind you, I love. But this time, I am heading to four new places – yes that is right four.

Over the 3 and half weeks that I am away I’ll be heading to Denver, Colorado; New York, London and finishing it off in Hong Kong. This trip has been nearly 3 years in the making. The main reasons for this trip is to go to my cousin’s graduation. But with such a long trip in the mix, my aunties and I thought it would be worth it if we added a couple more places to our holiday. And I cannot wait!

Like I said the only place I’ve been out of Australia is Hawaii. And not only do I get to go overseas, but I also get to go to some of the places that I’ve wanted to visit forever. I’ve always wanted to go to the UK since I can remember really. I don’t just want to go for a visit, but I do want to live there – and I thought that this would be an amazing way for me to see if it’s something that I want to go. Another place that I’ve always wanted to go to is New York – like London it’s a place that I can see myself living in the future. I can’t wait for this trip to begin.

Ross Parmly

Denver is our first stop on this trip. With a stop over in LA for 6 hours though. My family live in Denver so we are here for the graduation and just to hang out. I haven’t met most of these members of the family, so it’s going to be really nice. They are going to take me around Denver, Shopping and so much more.

I haven’t planned too much of this trip, my aunties and I have left it all up to my cousin. My only request is to go to some bookstores – which I am so excited about. Denver is going to be a time for family, shopping and a little sightseeing mixed in. We are in Denver for over a week so there is plenty of time to do things.

Then we are off to New York. I am so excited for New York ahhh! There is so much that I want to do and so little time, but we are going to try and fit everything we can in. The thing that I am most excited for in New York is that I am going to see Hamilton. I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am for this one.

I also want to visit some bookstores when I’m there, so if you have any recommendations, please give them my way.

Oliver Niblett

London is our next stop and the place that I am looking forward to the most. Going to London has always been a dream for me, and I can finally do it. I do plan to go back in a couple of years to see more of Britain, but for now, it’s a little sampler.

I’ll be in London for about a week, and I am trying to fit in as much as I can. I’ll be heading to the Harry Potter studios – which I still can’t believe that I am going. I am also going to see Hamilton again, and this time my aunties are coming with me.

One thing that I can’t contain my excited for is going to the Tower of London. If you didn’t know, I love history. Yes, it might be a strange thing to love. But I love learning about different times in history and how the world worked. One of my favourite times in history to learn about is the mid-to-late 1400’s. It was such an interesting time, and I am totally fascinated by it.

I will also be heading to Oxford for the day as well as Windsor Castle. It’s going to be a busy week but I am so excited about it. I am also hoping to head to the British Musem and some bookstores along the way.

Eva Dang

My final stop is Hong Kong and let me tell you, I am so excited about all the food that I will get to eat.  Not only that, it’s totally different from other places that I have been to so that always excites me. I’m only going to be there a couple of days, but at the moment I am planning to visit; Victoria Peak and the Tian Tan Buddha.

And then I will be back home. It’s going to be the longest time I’ve been away from home, but I am so looking forward to it. What are some recommendations for places to visit, eat and things that you think I might enjoy? Have you been to any of these places? Do you live in any of them? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
