Books That Are Currently On My Wish List

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 4 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books currently on my wish list. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

As Christmas is near today I thought I would share the books that I would love physical copies of. Some of these I’ve read and I just want to have them in my hands. And some I haven’t read yet, but can’t wait to read.

While I work in a bookstore, there are some books that I can’t get in myself or just haven’t yet. I don’t always buy physical books right away, especially if the book is on Kindle Unlimited. And there was a time where I barely bought any romance books in physical form.

But now I’m starting to add to my collection and I love it. So today I’m sharing some of those books that are on my wish list. As always these are in no order.

Sweet Omegaverse series by Kathryn Moon and Lana Kole | Fine Print, Volume 1 by Stjepan Šejić |Punderworld, Volume 1 (Punderworld #1) by  Linda Šejić | Dead Man Walking (The Fallen Men #6) by Giana Darling.

Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert | Promises and Pomegranates (Monsters & Muses #1) by Sav R. Miller | Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers #1) by Chloe Liese | The Luckiest Lady in London (The London Trilogy #1) by Sherry Thomas.

Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy | Diver’s Heart by K.A. Knight

Books I Didn’t Get To This Year But Need Too

Posted by angelreads Discussions, TBR 2 Comments

There are a lot of books that I want to read. My TBR is never-ending and I just keep on adding to it every day. So today I thought I would share some of the books that I wanted to read this year, but I didn’t get around to it.

I didn’t read a lot of new releases in 2021, I’m not sure why. I just did a lot of reading of backlist titles from authors and books that have been on my physical tbr for a while now. So there are going to be quite a few books on this list that are new releases that I cannot wait to start. There are also some books on here that I’ve wanted to read for a while and just getting around to it this year. I’ve said this before but I’m a mood reader and sometimes I just don’t want to read something at all.

But enough of all this, let’s get right into it. There is a mix of new releases and backlist titles. As always these are no order, let’s go.

The Atlas Six (The Atlas #1) by Olivie Blake | Twisted Games (Twisted #2) by Ana Huang. | The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1) by Danielle L. Jensen | Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune.

The Jasmine Throne (Burning Kingdoms #1) by Tasha Suri | The Unbroken (Magic of the Lost #1) by C.L. Clark. | Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy | Ariadne by Jennifer Saint.

Promises and Pomegranates (Monsters & Muses #1) by Sav R. Miller | Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. | Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo | Iron Widow (Iron Widow #1) by Xiran Jay Zhao.

Daughter of the Deep by Rick Riordan | A Lesson in Thorns (Thornchapel #1) by Sierra Simone. | A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor (Tempting Monsters #1) by Kathryn Moon | Air Awakens (Air Awakens #1) by Elise Kova.

And there we go. Those are the books that I didn’t get to in 2021 but I want to get to next year! Have you read any of these books, what did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them? So, let’s chat!

My Last Five Reads – December 2021

Posted by angelreads Last 5 Reads No Comments

I haven’t done one of these in a while so I thought I would share the last five books that I have read. It’s been up and down so far this month.

December is my busiest time of the year and I just want to go to sleep when I get home from work. But I have managed to read some books recently. In saying that, I’ve been binging two series, so most of what I’ve read are from the same authors and series. Anyway, let’s get into it.

Kit Davenport #1-3 by Tate James: I finally picked up my next Tate James book. I’ve been trying to figure out what one I wanted to pick up next, and I was in a supernatural book. So I picked up the first in this series The Vixen’s Lead. It took me a little while to get into it, but once everyone was introduced and things started to roll, I enjoyed it a lot more. I think book 3, Tiger’s Ambush is my favourite at the moment.

Famine (The Four Horsemen #3) by Laura Thalassa: I read Pestilence towards the start of the year, but over the past few weeks I’ve read War and Famine. I was really surprised with how much I enjoyed reading this one. I loved the female protagonist so much. She wasn’t what I expected and I think that is why I loved her so much. This series is intense and it’s not for everyone, but I am loving it so much. So far, War has been my favourite.

The Sweetest Oblivion (Made #1) by Danielle Lori: This is the latest book that I’ve read as I write this post. this has been on my tbr for some time now, but I wanted to read a contemporary book to break up my supernatural and fantasy reading. Again I enjoyed this more than I was planning on liking it. While I say this, I was expecting it to be a little darker. It’s a mafia romance and there are a lot of questionable things that do happen. It’s wasn’t as dark as I heard it would be. I think the later books get a little darker. I’m really intrigued and cannot wait to read more.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
