Some of My Recent Favourite Reads

Posted by angelreads Discussions No Comments

Today I thought I would share some of my recent favourite reads.  My reading has been very up and down over the last few months, but I have had reads some books that have really stood out to me, so I thought I would share them with you. While these are all romance books, there is a good mix of different romances and different levels of spice – which I really like. I’ve been trying to read new authors as well and some of them have made this list.

So let’s get into it. Like always these are in no order. All 4 books that I’m sharing are rated from 4-5 stars. It’s not often that I give out that rating, a 3 star is a pretty solid rating for me. So these books have definitely stood out. Anyway, here we go.

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa: Pestilence is one of the books that Ely picked for me to read this year, and I’m so glad that she did. This has been on my tbr for such a long time, and after Ely read and loved it. I knew that I need to get on it. It was seriously such a fantastic read. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. Also, I  wasn’t expecting the romance to be a slow burn – and it just made it that much better. I use to love slow burn so much – and this made me release why. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series, which I plan on doing very soon.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston: No surprise that this has made my list. I didn’t know what to feel going in. I knew that it was going to be different from Red, White and Royal Blue, as well as it, dealt with things that aren’t really my thing. But I adored it. The romance was brilliant, the characters were fantastic and I just had a blast. You can check out Ely and my discussion now.

Lola & the Millionaires: Part One (Sweet Omegaverse #2) by Kathryn Moon: I think this book is one of the nicest surprised that I have had all year. I hadn’t heard about this series or the author before I joined TikTok. And this book kept on popping up on my feed. So I just gave it a go. And I loved it so much. It made me smile, laugh and cry. It just blew me away. It’s a reverse harem, so please be aware of that before you hop on into it. But I think it’s one of my favourite ones that I have read so far.

Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert: You should not be surprised that this has made it onto the list of my favourite recent reads. I’ve read a few Katee Robert books in the past and really enjoyed this, and this just screams me. It’s sexy, smutty and just so addicting. I couldn’t put it down, and all I wanted to do was keep on reading. Hades and Persophone are fantastic together, they just made me smile and I didn’t want it to stop. You can also check out the 5 reasons why I did love it now.

And there we go. Those are some of my favourite recent reads. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them? What has been a book that you have loved recently? Let’s Chat!

Books on My Spring 2021 TBR

Posted by angelreads Uncategorized 6 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books that are on my spring (fall) tbr. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

There are still so many books that I want to read this year, so today I’m sharing the books that I want and need to read in the next few months. I’ve been a little lazy this year and haven’t read many 2021 releases, so I do want to get to some of those this spring.

My reading has been up and down this year for sure. I’m working full time, which means my reading time is limited. I normally read to and from work on the train, and then maybe when I get home. We are also going in and out of lockdowns. Which messes with my reading a lot. But anyway enough of all this, here are the books that I want to read in the next few months, like always these are in no order.

Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune | Seven Days in June by Tia Williams | The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He | The Duke (Knight Miscellany #1) by Gaelen Foley

Slippery Creatures (The Will Darling Adventures #1) by K.J. Charles | The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas | Knot My Type (All Access #1) by Evie Mitchell | Twisted Games (Twisted #2) by Ana Huang

The Atlas Six (The Atlas #1) by Olivie Blake | Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy

And there we go. Those are the books that I want to read this spring. From young adult to romance and more. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them? Let’s Chat!

Books I Currently Have From NetGalley

Posted by angelreads TBR No Comments

I’m not going to lie, I am a little behind in reading my arcs. For most of this year, I’ve been in a massive mood reader, which has meant that I haven’t read all the arcs I have been approved for on NetGalley. So today I thought I would share the few that I haven’t been able to get to yet.

There is a mix of books here – which makes sense because I don’t know what I want to read these days. Some are already out and some have yet to be released. I am hoping to get to them by the end of the year though! As I said these are the books that I currently have on my tbr from NetGalley. Like always these are in no order.

The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros: I don’t know and can’t believe I haven’t read this. I do know that I will most likely cry reading it, and I think that is why I haven’t picked it up yet. I’ve cried in nearly every Rebecca Yarros book I’ve read, and this one sounds like it will do the same. I am excited to read it though and jumped on it as soon as it popped up on NetGalley.

The Ones We’re Meant to Find by Joan He: This is another one that has not only been on my NetGalley tbr for a while, but in general, I want to read it. It sounds fantastic and I’ve heard amazing things. Add to that it is one of Ely and I’s buddy reads. So I will need to get to it very soon. I’ve been putting this one off because it sways from my usual reads. It does have elements that I know I will enjoy but it’s not something that I read a lot. Anyway, let’s hope I can get to it soon.

Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune: I think you all know by now how much I’ve really enjoyed T.J Klune in the past and this one just sounds like everything that I love. It just sounds absolutely fantastic. I am hoping to get to it soon. From the reviews that I’ve read and seen, everything is already really enjoying it.

Flash Fire (The Extraordinaries #2) by T.J. Klune: I really enjoyed the first book in the series. While it was a little hard to get into, I ended up loving it. However, I haven’t been in the mood for romances lately so I just haven’t the time to pick this one up. Hopefully, I can pick it up soon, because I am so looking forward to it.

If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales and Cale Dietrich: Much like Flash Fire, the only reason I haven’t picked this one up yet is that I haven’t been in the mood for young adults much. However, I am starting to get in the mood for some rocker/musician romance so I might pick this one up soon. I’ve loved books by Sophie Gonzales so I am really excited.

And there we go. Those are the books I currently have from NetGalley that I need to get on and read. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them soon? Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
