Books I’ve Added To My TBR Because of TikTok

Posted by angelreads Discussions, TBR No Comments

If you haven’t booktok is going a little hectic at the moment and you know I had to jump in. It’s a great place for romance recommendations and I can sit there for hours going through videos. I have also started making some video’s myself, so if that is something that you want to check out – please do.

Anyway today I thought I would share some of the books I’ve added to my tbr because of TikTok. There is a range of different romances here. From dark romances to fantasy and everything in between. I really want to widen what I read in romance – and it’s a great way to do it. Anyway, let’s go.

Love in Sight by Denver Rose | Freestyle (Academy of Stardom #1) by Bea Paige | Dare You To Hate Me by B. Celeste | Lilac by B.B. Reid

Ache by Marley Valentine | Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy | Weightless by Kandi Steiner | Scars (The Triad #1) by Dana Isaly

Devious Little Liars (Saint View High #1) by Elle Thorpe | Diver’s Heart by K.A. Knight | Storm the Castle (Marry the Scot #1) by Jolie Vines | Abel (Sabine Valley #1) by Katee Robert

And there we go, those are just some that I have added to my tbr recently from TikTok. You can check out some more that I have on my wish list here. Have you joined booktok? What do you think of it? Have you read anything that you have seen on there? Let’s Chat!

Books I Have Read In One Sitting | TTT

Posted by angelreads Features, Top Ten Tuesday 4 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books that I can read in one sitting. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I can read a lot of books in one sitting. It’s actually not too hard for me. I am quite a fast reader and that means I can knock out a book in a few hours. I don’t do it as much anymore simply because I work full time. But it does still happen. Anyway let’s get into it, here are the books I’ve read in one sitting. Some may surprise you!

Halo (Fallen Angel #1) by Ella Frank, Brooke Blaine: This one was easy to read in one sitting. I started to read it and before I knew it I was finished. It’s just over 250 pages. I think I’ve read each of the books in this series in one sitting as well.

Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper, #1) by Alice Oseman: Like the previous book, I’ve read each of these volumes in one sitting. They are just so easy to do and I really want to pick up some more graphic novels soon.

Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen: This is a novella so finishing this in one sitting was pretty easy. I also did enjoy it – so that did make it so much easier. It was a fun, quick read. And it’s great to pick up if you want to read something that won’t take you long.

Birthday Shot by Rilzy Adams: This is another great novella that hits all the right places. It’s an easy one-sitting read for anyone really. It’s over before you know it and even though you do want more – you are good.

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare: Most of the time historical romances are books that I can read in one sitting. And that was no different for The Duchess Deal. I love this book and series so much and I’m hanging for the last book – hopefully we will get it soon.

Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers #1) by Chloe Liese: Like historical romances, contemporary romances are also pretty easy for me to read in one sitting. And as soon as I started Only When It’s Us – I knew I was going to love it. This whole series is also fantastic.

Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1) by Nic Stone: While this isn’t classed as a novella, it is on the shorter side, especially for a YA book. And while it’s small it packs a punch. This book is so good that I couldn’t put it down and if you haven’t read it, then please do pick it up.

Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men #1) by Giana Darling: You know those books that you just pick up and before you know it, you have finished it? This is one of those. I only started reading Giana Darling last year – but this whole series has taken me by surprise, and I was able to finish this one in one sitting.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare: Now I’m not sure how I did this one. I honestly have no idea. I just picked it up and didn’t put it down. I’ve read a few of Clare’s in 2 or 3 days, but this was by far the fastest.

The Kingmaker (All the King’s Men #1) by Kennedy Ryan: This is another one of those books that I just could not put down. It was addicting and I needed to know what was going to happen next. And then the ending? Umm yer, let’s just say I made the mistake of reading this before the second book came out.

And there we go, those are some of the books that I have read in one sitting. Have you read any of these books? What books have you read in one sitting? Let’s Chat!

Also if you don’t follow me on social media and want to you can. I have Twitter, Instagram and now I’m on TikTok. And I’m having a lot of fun!

My Last 5 Reads | July 2021

Posted by angelreads Discussions 1 Comment

At the start of the week, I share the next few books that I am hoping that I can get to. So today I thought I would share some of my latest reads. I really enjoy doing these posts, because it gives me an idea of what I have read lately.

I’ve been reading a lot of series lately instead of sharing each book I read in the series. I have grouped the series as one.  I’ve been reading a lot of romance this year – which is how last year went as well. I am loving it, especially as I’m also trying new sub-genres in romance as well. Enough of all this, these are my latest reads.

Four by Sara Cate and Rachel Leigh: After reading the Madison Kate series and Den of Vipers, I wanted to try some darker romances. Sadly this one wasn’t for me. I didn’t love the writing style, the romance was just okay. I managed to read it in a few hours, so I did enjoy reading it. But it wasn’t what I was hoping.

With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4) by Chloe Liese: I picked this one up as soon as I received my e-arc of it. I just adore this series so much and the synopsis of this one just hit me. I loved it so much, so happy with it. And I can’t wait to share more of my thoughts on it.

Ice Planet Barbarians #5 – #7 by Ruby Dixon: I read the first 4 books of this series last year and now with everyone reading it from Tiktok I knew I wanted to read a few more. So I’m now up to book 8. I just have so much fun reading this series. It’s not all that great – but it is just so much fun. And I really enjoyed book 7 – quite a bit.

Emerald Lakes #1-#3 by Britt Andrews: I picked this series up on a whim. I had seen in floating around Tiktok quite a bit and I really want to start reading more fantasy/paranormal romance. I’m still not sure how I feel about this series. There were a few unexpected things, that I wasn’t prepared for. But I’m still reading the rest of the series – because I’m really interested to see where things go.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston: I have had this since we reopened back at work and it also might be Ely and mine’s June buddy read – yes we are a little behind. But I have finally started it. I haven’t finished it yet but I am really enjoying it so far and cannot wait to finish reading it.

And there we go, those are some of my latest reads and what I am currently reading. What have you read recently? What are you currently reading? Let’s Chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

With a tarnished reputation and an undetermined future in F1 that hangs by a terribly loose thread, he can’t afford to lose his seat. Thiago is ready to do anything to redeem himself and erase his past mistakes. When a mysterious woman intrudes on his private party in Monte Carlo, he is certain the universe has brought his polar opposite into his life as salvation. He is sunshine, she is moonlight; he is a bright star and she is a moonbeam.

Destiny takes the wheel, steering Kamari into Thiago’s orbit, but her open disdain and closely guarded heart warn her to stay away. Enchanted by her charms, Thiago is intent on melting her freezing barriers and tearing down the walls shielding her heart.

When Kamari agrees to help him save his future by being his fake girlfriend, the unexpected happens, triggered by a game of lies, secrets and desire.

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
