TV Series That I Love To Watch

Posted by angelreads Uncategorized 1 Comment

I thought I would do something a little different today and share some of the TV or Netflix shows that I love to watch. These are either recent ones I’ve watched, or shows that I have watched over a long period of time. I think I have a strange range of shows that I watch. From crime shows to science fiction and fantasy. I just like to watch a whole heap of different shows and here are some of my favourites.

Once Upon A Time (2011-2018) – Creators: Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis. | I just recently starting re-watching this and I love it so much. I love the characters, the storyline and I love all the fairytales. I just love the way that it all intertwines.

Hawaii Five-O (2010-2020) – Creators: Peter M. Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman, Leonard Freeman. | This is one that is close to my heart. I love Hawaii so much and it’s my happy place, and that shows just gives me that. It’s one of those shows that I could watch again and again.

Criminal Minds (2005- 2020) – Creator: Jeff Davis. | I use to watch episodes here and there for this, but it wasn’t until last year that I watched it from start to finish. And gosh was it good. It’s dark and intriguing and just grabs you right away. I couldn’t stop watching even if at times it could a little too much.

NCIS: Los Angeles (2009-Current) – Creator: Shane Brennan. | This is another one like Hawaii Five-O, I just so much about it. From the characters to the stories and the relationships. It’s just a good show. I laugh, I cry and I always have a good time.

Stargate SG-1 (1997–2007) – Creator: Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright. | This is one I use to watch all the time when I was younger and a few years ago I began to rewatch it again. I just love it. The world is fantastic, the characters are great and I can rewatch it all the time.

Lucifer (2016–current) –  Creator: Tom Kapinos. | I mean who doesn’t love this show. It’s fantastic. It mixes some of my favourite genres while also being funny and just so good. It’s dark but also has these moments that are full of light.

Bridgerton (2020–current ) Creator: Chris Van Dusen. | I mean you should know that this would be on my list. I don’t think I need to say much about this. It was everything that I wanted to be and more. I’m so looking forward to the second two.

The Mentalist (2008–2015) Creator: Bruno Heller. | This is another one of those shows that I use to watch here and there when it was on TV, but I just started my first full watch of it. It’s so good! It’s funny and addicting. But it’s also dark and makes you really think as you watch.

***

And those are some of the TV series that I really love to watch. Have you watched any of those shows? What do you think of them? What is some TV shows that you love to watch? Let’s Chat!

What Do You Do When You Change Your Mind On Books?

Posted by angelreads Guest Post 1 Comment

Hi, everyone—it’s Ely again, here for my monthly post for March! Over the last few months, over on my own blog I’ve been looking back at the books I never reviewed, rereading them and sharing my thoughts. It’s been a fun process so far, but it got me thinking about changing opinions on books after you’ve written reviews. So today I thought I’d share my thoughts and some of the things I’ve done and seen others do.

Deleting The Review

Obviously, the most dramatic technique is to just delete your review. This is probably easiest on something like Goodreads and Storygraph where you probably won’t be breaking hyperlinks or whatnot. I personally don’t use this one very often—I’m more likely to clear my star rating on GR or re-rate it. That being said, I have deleted reviews of books and authors that I no longer felt comfortable supporting.

Disclaimers

An easier option is to just add a disclaimer at the start of a review. I think this one works particularly well if you’ve changed your star rating after reading, or if the review just isn’t relevant anymore. Again, if you’re choosing not to support that book or author anymore but don’t want to delete the review for whatever reason, this might be the way.

Rewriting

This is probably the most time-consuming one on the list. I’ve done this one a few times when I’ve looked over old reviews and decided a sentence isn’t quite right or if I now see something I said in a completely different light. This can be anything from deleting a paragraph to changing the entire thing. It all depends on what you’re changing.

Leaving It

This is the most common one, I think. Sometimes you can completely change your mind about a book but completely forget about that review you wrote on it when you read it that first time. This honestly happens to me all the time and I’m only reminded if I go to look that book up or if someone likes or comments on it, whether that be on my blog or Goodreads. Most of the time I don’t have the time or energy to really look over the review and I end up just leaving it as is.

What about you—what do you do with the reviews you’ve changed your mind on? Let me know down below!

Books On My 2021 Autumn TBR

autumn tbr post

This week I’m sharing the books that I want to read this Autumn. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Today I’m sharing the books that I want to go to in the next couple of months. These are a mix of new releases, backlist titles and books I’ve had on my tbr for some time. Working in a bookstore is very hard on my tbr so I end up getting books that I don’t always know I want until they arrive, but I’m trying really hard this year not to do that. Anyway here are the books that I want to read by the end of May.

autumn tbr covers

Undercover Duke (Duke Dynasty #4) by Sabrina Jeffries: You all know how much I’m loving Sabrina Jeffires, and I also adore this series. You can check out my review latest book for more. I can’t wait to see where this story is going to be taken.

Ariadne by Jennifer Saint: This wasn’t on my radar until recently. And let me tell you I’ve already pre-ordered it and I can’t wait to dig you. I love my re-tellings, especially my greek mythology ones and this just sounds absolutely fantastic.

From Blood and Ash (Blood and Ash #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I finally got an ebook of this recently and I’m just waiting for the right time to dig in. But I feel like it’s going to be very soon. I’m so excited about it. I’ve loved Jennifer L. Armentrout’s books that I’ve read before and this sounds so good.

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Mackenzies & McBrides #1) by Jennifer Ashley: I’ve been wanting to read this for a while now. And I feel like it’s finally time for me to dig into it. It sounds really interesting, it has disability rep and it’s historical romance. So it sounds like me.

autumn tbr covers

Our Year of Maybe by Rachel Lynn Solomon: I finally got a copy of this, last week. It might be a little bit before I pick it up, but I am super excited about it. All the reviews I’ve seen have been so good and it just sounds fantastic, but also like it will hurt me. I think it’s the perfect book to read this autumn though.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken: I can’t wait to dig into this. There are mix reviews at the moment, but I feel it’s one of those books that you need to read for yourself. And then decide what you think. I have to be in the mood to read this one for sure though.

Wild Rain (Women Who Dare #2) by Beverly Jenkins: I loved the first book in this series and I’ve loved other Jenkins books I’ve read before, so I am super excited to dig into this one. Plus it sounds fantastic. I love reading outside regency in my bubble.

Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales: I loved Sophie’s debut novel and this just sounds like it’s going to be just as good and perfect for Autumn. I already got my copy when it came in at work and I can’t wait to dig in.

autumn tbr covers

Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy #1) by Leigh Bardugo: So I did that weird thing where I read Six of Crows before I picked up this series. But I want to read at least the first book before the show comes out. Which looks fantastic by the way. Let’s hope I get to it.

Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper #1) by Alice Oseman: This is one of the books that Ely picked for me this year to read and I’m finally reading it. I have all the parts that are out, as my little sister loves them. But I need to get on it. I’ve loved reading books from Oseman before, so this makes me excited. And this will be a perfect autumn read!

And that is it for my Autumn TBR! What do you plan to read in the next couple of months? I know that most of you are going into spring instead of autumn. Have you read any of these books? What do you think of them? Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
