New To Me Authors That I Want To Read More Of

I’ve read a lot of new authors this year already. And today I thought I would share some authors that I would like to read more of. Whether they already have other books published, or I just can’t wait for them to publish more. I thought this would be fun to do – and maybe add some books or authors to your tbr.

I’ve read a number of new to me authors so far this year and I’ve really enjoyed that. Of the past couple, I’ve stuck to what I know and love. But I’ve tried to push that this year, and readout of my comfort zone and try authors that I’ve come across but never picked up. I spoke a few weeks ago about some new to me authors that I’m loving already, but I wanted to expand on that. Like always these are in no order.

Rachel Hawkins: Has been a name that I’ve heard of quite a bit in the YA circle, but I just never seemed to pick up her books. Recently I read Prince Charming and had such a good time. It’s one of those books that just make your smile the whole time. I’m planning to read the next book in this series at least.

Beverly Jenkins: I’ve spoken a few times about Beverly Jenkins already this year, but I have had such a good time reading her books. The only trouble I’m really having is picking what I want to read next from her. Her books are such good historical romances that also are sexy and I love that.

Hallie Alexander: I hadn’t heard of Hallie Alexander until I picked up her books a couple of months ago. And I’m so glad that I did. I had such a good time reading A Widow’s Guide to Scandal and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Giana Darling: I think I’ve spoken enough about The Fallen Men series already this year that you know that this author has taken me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this series as much as I did. And now I can’t wait for more books to come out. Her other books have caught my eye and I will need to check them out soon.

Elizabeth Acevedo: This author has been on my radar for some time now and I finally picked up The Poet X earlier this year and just fell in love. I’m hoping to get to at least one of her other books in the coming weeks. But I cried so much in The Poet X that I know I need to be ready.

Sabrina Jeffries: I’ve recently spoken recently about my love for Sabrina Jeffires in my mini-reviews as well as my review of Who Wants to Marry a Duke. And no all I want to do is read more of her books. The series that I did get arrived this month so I’m excited.

Sarah MacLean: This is another historical romance author that I’ve had my eye on for some time and finally picked up Wicked and the Wallflower last month. I’ve now purchased the other two books in this series and can’t wait to dig in.

Mariana Zapata: This author had been on my radar for a little while now and I decided to take the dive earlier this year. I’ve now read quite a few of Mariana Zapata’s books. There have been some that I’ve enjoyed reading and some that just didn’t do it for me. But I’m interested to read more of her books.

Nic Stone: There should be no surprise that Nic Stone is on this list. I adored Dear Martin and I can’t wait to read more of her books. I’m especially excited about the companion novel to Dear Martin, Dear Justyce.

Books that Should be Adapted | TTT

This week I’m sharing the books that I think should be adapted. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s post was so much fun to do. Adaptations are always a hit or miss for me. They can be one of a few things. First, they can be crap – which is most of the time. Then they can be decent and then there is the few that are pretty perfect. But that last one is rare.

Anyway enough of that today I’m sharing the books that I would love to be adapted. Either into series or movies, depending on the book. Like always these are in no order.

Prince Charming (Royals #1) by Rachel Hawkins: I just finished this one the other day and gosh would it make such a fun movie. It would be cheesy and cater to such a high audience. I love that this one doesn’t look at your typical royal couple as well. Plus there is the second book in this series as well.

Flight & Glory Series by Rebecca Yarros: This would make emotion and intense series for sure. I feel it could have the same vibe of all the 2000’s series. However, there would be lots of crying and sobbing. But there would be so many moments that would make you smile and laugh.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston: Um how amazing would a movie or even a series of this be? It would make me so happy and gosh would be entertaining at the same time. I think it would be a lot of fun and just make me smile the whole time.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: This would make for such a movie or even a series. It would be magical and beautiful. I can already imagine how amazing visually this one could be. Add in some different kind of characters and you have this one wrapped up.

The Guinevere Deception (Camelot Rising #1) by Kiersten White: I could never say not to another series set during the time of Arthur. Seriously I would be just so much fun. And filled with magic and deception. Some of my favourite things.

Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove #1) by Shelby Mahurin: A book adapted into a movie about a which and a witch hunter, what more could I want? This would be such an interesting movie and the magic would be epic.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig: This one would be hunting and gothic and I am so ready for that. This one would be dark and interesting and It would be different from other YA adaptations. I love watching different takes of retelling and this would be awesome adapted.

Romanov by Nadine Brandes: I’m always looking for new historical fiction to watch and I think this would be such an interesting book to be adapted. I don’t know if I would like it as a movie or series yet. But either way, it would be an interesting watch.

Disruption (Disruption #1) by Jessica Shirvington: This could be such an interesting dystopian adaptation. It’s different from others as we a novel and I think it would make such an interesting series for sure. Or even one on Netflix. Shorted seasons but still packs a punch.

The Conqueror’s Saga by Kiersten White: You should all know by now how much I love this series and I think it would make an epic series. And who doesn’t love a strong female character that does not take shit from anyone? Plus its historical fiction, give me that any day. Nevertheless, I would live for this.

Who Wants to Marry a Duke:

I received an earc of Who Wants to Marry a Duke by Sabrina Jeffries via NetGalley from Kensington Books in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

The other day I shared my reviews for Project Duchess and The Bachelor, the first two books in this series and today it’s Sabrina Jeffries newest release turn. I love this one so much. It has everything that I love about historical romance and is the perfect sequel.

Who Wants to Marry a Duke follows Marlowe Drake, the Duke of Thornstock, otherwise known as Thorn. He hasn’t had the best experience when it comes to Olivia Norley. He could never forget the kiss that they shared, but he also won’t forget about the blackmail that followed. Now his half-brother has hired Olivia to help solve a family mystery. But Olivia might be in even more danger than anyone thought. And close quarters and high stakes bring Thorn and Olivia closer together.

This was such a fun, entertaining and romance filled read and I could not put it down. Thorn and Olivia were an absolute blast to read. Who Wants to Marry a Duke isn’t just a great book on its own but stands brilliantly in the series.

Thorn is a classic historical romance male and he made all the right moves. From the start, he stood out on the page. The reader can see who he is right away, and he doesn’t change much from there. His voice is very strong, and I loved that. He has a fantastic character arc that was explored throughout Who Wants to Marry a Duke. I wanted to know more and more about him as the novel went on. I wanted to know why he was acting the way he did. And I wanted Olivia to knock him on his feet. At times Thorn could be a little ‘mean’ but that I think that was the front that he was putting up to hid myself from hurt.

Olivia was a pleasure to read. I love having a woman of high education in my historical romances now and again. It’s a dynamic that is interesting to see. I loved that Olivia wasn’t taking shit from anyone. She knew what she wanted, and she knew what she was good at – and didn’t let anyone stop her. But this also meant that she had a tight wall around her that was tough to get through.

Sabrina Jeffries is fantastic at writing characters that are different from one another, but all fit into the same world. Thorn and Olivia are quite different from the other couples in the series and I loved that. The stood out on their own. But also completed everyone else.

I love, hate to love romances, but there is something about hate to love in historical romances that is just perfect. Sabrina Jeffries has done an excellent job here and writing a romance that is full of angst and it worked so well. Olivia and Thorn both have issues with one another, and a lot of that steams from miscommunication. Normally I wouldn’t like it at all, but it worked out so well in Who Wants to Marry a Duke.

This isn’t a historical romance series that you should or could read out of order. There is a mystery that is intertwined through all the novels that get more intense as you go on. I think that is what makes this series and out for me. For the most part in nearly all historical romance series, you can read them out of order. You might get teased about who ends up with who – but in reality, it doesn’t matter all that much. However, in Who Wants to Marry a Duke everything connects. There is one overarching storyline and I love that.

One of my favourite things about this series is the banter! There is banter between everyone and gosh it made for such a fun read. I laughed so many times throughout Who Wants to Marry a Duke. The relationship between the step and full siblings was just fantastic. It explores them fighting, playing and not getting along. But it is such a good representation of a sibling relationship.

Overall, I love reading Who Wants to Marry a Duke by Sabrina Jeffries. It’s a fantastic addition to the series and just as good on its own. It was such a wonderful reading experience and has everything that I look for in a historical romance. I adored Thorn and Oliva as both protagonists and lovers. Who Wants to Marry a Duke is a fantastic sequel and I simply adored the romance. I can’t wait to read more in this series and find out more about the mystery. If you haven’t picked up this series yet – do it’s fantastic.
