Most Anticipated Books Releasing in the First Half of 2024

Posted by angelreads TBR, Top Ten Tuesday 7 Comments

This week I’m sharing my most anticipated books releasing in the first half of 2024. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Okay, we could be here a lot of time if I shared all the books I’m excited to read for the first half of this year. I really struggled with this post, because I could put all the books I’ve added to my tbr at the moment on here. But I had to be strong. Recently I shared the sequels I’m excited for in 2024, so I tried not to share too much of those on this list. But we have a few double-ups.

I had a pretty good reading year in 2023. And I’m hoping that I can do the same in 2024. I want to try some new authors, start new series and read as many new releases as I can. So let’s get into it. These are some of my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2024. Like always these are in no order.

Only and Forever (Bergman Brothers, #7) by Chloe Liese – April. | The Dixon Rule (Campus Diaries, #2) by Elle Kennedy – May. | Play Along (Windy City, #4) by Liz Tomforde – June. | The Home Wrecker (The Goode Brothers, #2) by Sara Cate – March.

Bride by Ali Hazelwood – February. | A Tempest of Tea (Blood and Tea, #1) by Hafsah Faizal – February. | When the Moon Hatched (Moonfall, #1) by Sarah A. Parker – January. | A Fate Inked in Blood (Saga of the Unfated, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen – February.

Swift and Saddled (Rebel Blue Ranch, #2) by Lyla Sage – March. | Wild Love (Rose Hill, #1) by Elsie Silver – April

And there we go. There are so many more books I could have added to this list. But honestly sometimes releases pop up and I’m reading a new book from an author that I love.

Have you read any of these books yet? Have you read anything from these authors? What books are you excited about in 2024? So, let’s chat!

My Best Friend Chooses My TBR 2024

Posted by angelreads Best Friend TBR 1 Comment

This should have gone up last year but it’s been a time. But it’s here. Each year Ely, my best friend and I pick a few books for each other off our TBR’s and it’s a grand old time.

It’s one of the things I look forward to each year. It is always one of the ways we can push each other in what books we read. I am not going to lie I nearly sobbed reading Ely’s post about this because she is my best friend. I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. She listens to me when I need to rant. When I need to get everything out. Even if I don’t want an answer. She is the type of person who will go on food adventures with me and lets me cook while I am at her house. We can talk about anything and everything for hours on end. And I love it. And we can both be little chronic illness and pain buddies together. Basically, she is the best person to be my best friend.

Okay, I think I have talked enough, let’s get into it. I had a very open TBR and Ely could pick whatever she wanted. And this is what she chose.

Written (The Librarian’s Coven #1) by Kathryn Moon

Ely: Well since you got me into Kathryn Moon in the first place, I think it’s only fair that I make you read this in return. I’m being a little selfish with this one because I really want someone to talk about this series with and there’s no one better than you. I think you’ll enjoy it since it’s pretty light on the fantasy but it’s got those reverse harem elements too.

Angel: I’m really excited about this. I have loved every Kathryn Moon book I’ve read so far, so this makes me excited. Like Ely said it has elements I really enjoy in a lot of my books, so it’s perfect. Plus it’s on KU.

Behind the Net (Vancouver Storm #1) by Stephanie Archer

Ely: As always, I’m using you as my guinea pig for this one. I’ve seen it around a lot and it sounds good, but you know how fussy I am. I trust your opinion more than anyone else’s so I know that if you don’t like this, I definitely won’t.

Angel: I like being the guinea pig haah. But this one has been one I’ve had my eyes on for a while now. I love some ice hockey romances, and I’ve seen some pretty good reviews so far. I have already downloaded it so I think I will be reading this one very soon.

The Bridge Kingdom (The Bridge Kingdom #1) by Danielle L. Jensen

Ely: You’re probably not that surprised to see this on the list. This is one of my favourite reads of the year and I know it’s something you’ve been interested in, so here’s your push to read it. I know I’ve already warned you there are lots of snakes in here, but if you manage to get past that I think you’ll love it as much as I did.

Angel: Not surprised at all! And it’s been on my tbr for some time. I also think I have the indie and trad copies of this one. So I will get onto reading it. Noo snakes. Ah, I will have to deal with it I guess.

And there we go! I am so excited to read all of these books. They have been ones I’ve been looking forward to reading and this is a great push to read these. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Don’t forget to check out Ely’s post and see what I picked for her. Let’s chat!

My Favorite Books of 2023

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 7 Comments

This week I’m sharing some of my favourite reads of 2023 Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

So this isn’t a fun post to make, I hate making these hard decisions. Especially in regards to picking my favourite reads of the year. I had a fantastic reading year in 2023 and read over 200 books, so I have so many to choose from.

I mean there were some ugly reads, there were some standouts and there were some that I may never think of again. So I had to really think a lot for this post. And I may come back in 6 months and think differently.

But enough of this chit-chat, here are some of the best books I read in 2023. Nearly all of these are romances, honestly, all of these are romances. Because that is all I read in 2023, and I loved it. But there is a range of romances here. I do want to make a quick note that the books on this list are my favourites. This is what I thought of them and they may not be for you. But I liked them a lot.

So without further ado, here are some of my favourite books for 2023.  And as always these are in no real order. If I also loved a whole series and read it in 2023, I included it as one. Let’s go!

The Bonds That Tie Series by J. Bree. | Final Offer (Dreamland Billionaires, #3) by Lauren Asher. | Heartless (Chestnut Springs, #2) by Elsie Silver | The Royals of Forsyth University #4-#6 by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue.

The Empyrean Series #1-#2 by Rebecca Yarros. | Wildfire (Maple Hills, #2) by Hannah Grace. | Fate of a Royal (Lords of Rathe, #1) by Meagan Brandy and Amo Jones. | The Crown of Oaths and Curses (The Mortal Fates, #1) by J. Bree.

Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young. | Brayshaw High Series by Meagan Brandy. | Caution to the Wind (The Fallen Men, #7) by Giana Darling | Caught Up (Windy City, #3) by Liz Tomforde.

There are so many more books and series that I could have added to this list, but I already went over the 10. But those are some of my favourite reads of 2023. Have you read any of these books? What did you think? What books made it to your list this year? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
