Wishing You A Very Merry Christmas!

Wishing You A Very Merry Christmas!

Posted by angelreads Announcements, Discussions 4 Comments

sMerry Christmas

I just wanted to come on and say a quick Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. This is one of my favourite times of the year. I love it because I get to spend it all with family. Christmas is a big thing for my family. Christmas Eve is at our house, where we all open our gifts. Then on Christmas day, we got to both sets of Grandparents and have lunch/dinner with them and their sides of the family.

I really hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. I hope that you get everything that you want and get to spend some time with your family. To those that don’t have any family to spend it with, remember that I am thinking of you. And that this bookish community is also your family and we are always here.  Nevertheless, I hope that you get all the books that you want and have some time to sit down and read these holidays.

Completed Series That I Want To Finish

Posted by angelreads Discussions, Features 10 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I did a post about series I won’t be finishing. This time I thought why not share what completed series that I want to finish reading. Most of these series are older and have been completed for a while. I don’t have much excuse for not finishing before as you will see from below, but I hope to soon.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor: I have no excuse for not finishing this series. I loved the first book and I mean loved. And I have all the rest of the series signed and I still haven’t finished. This series will be finished by next year!

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi: I read this series when I started blogging. It was one of those books that I read because of other bloggers. I remember really enjoying it and wanting to read more, however at that time I didn’t have money and my library didn’t have them in stock. I know that I will need to re-read the first book before I continue.

Penryn and the End of Days by Susan Ee: I loved when I first read this series. I loved the different take on Angels and how they are not the good guys. I only need to read the last book in this series, so I need to get on it.

Freak of Nature by Julia Crane: I read book 1 in this series, way back in 2013 when it was coming out. I remember really enjoying it and excited for the next book. However, I never got around to it, let’s hope in 2017 I can.

The Blackcoat Rebellion by Aimee Carter: Again, I really enjoyed book 1 and just never got around to reading more. I have heard mixed things about the rest of the series – so I am uncertain if I want to finish reading the rest.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles: This one was another book I read because of bloggers. While enjoying the first book, I never got around to read more. First I need to buy them.

Reboot by Amy Tintera: I am totally confused as to why I haven’t finished these books. I feel in love with the first book and it was one of my favourites of that year and then I remembered that I had not read the second book. I think life got in the way.

And that is it. I hope that you enjoyed this post. What series are you planning on finishing? Do we share any of the same? Where do you think I should start? Do you think I should give up on any of these? Let’s Chat.

Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree

Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree

Posted by angelreads Features, Top Ten Tuesday 9 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone join as you please. This week’s topic is: Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree.

I love Christmas, it’s probably one of my favourite time of year. My whole family comes to my house on Christmas Eve, we have dinner, hang out and then Santa comes and we open all our gifts It’s a thing we have done my whole life and as our family grew, it gets bigger and better.

And one of the things that I love seeing under the tree is, books. Over the years the amount of books I have gotten for Christmas has grown and I love it. This list is in no particular order and could go on for ages, but I need to keep it at 10.  There is also a lot of contemporary on this list, which is strange for me. But over the last couple of years, I have been reading more and more contemporary and I want to read even more.

Santa 1

Summer of Sloane by  Erin L. Schneider: It’s set in Hawaii, and after going there last year I feel in love. Plus this has been getting some great reviews. I think it would be the perfect summer read for here in Australia.

Spark Trilogy by Rachael Craw: I can’t believe that I haven’t read this series yet. I feel ashamed. It sounds like my type of read and all I hear is amazing things.

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes: I have yet to read any Paula Stokes books, and I think this is the perfect one to start with. It’s sounds heartbreaking, but beautiful at the same time.

Santa 2

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West: I don’t know why I haven’t read this. Seriously I love Kasie West’s contemporary novels so damn much, but I just haven’t picked this one up.

P.S I Like You by Kasie West: Okay this is another Kasie West novel that I haven’t read. However, this one came out this year and I would love for it to be left under the tree by Santa. This book sounds adorable.

The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout: I haven’t read any of Jennifer’s contemporary novels yet, but I loved the Lux series, so I am pretty sure I am going to love this one. Plus it sounds amazing.

 Santa 3

Firsts by Laurie Elizabeth Flynn: I have heard some really good things about First and sometimes I need a novel like this. One that goes against norms or ‘what is right.’ And I find that contemporary novels hit that spot.

Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys: This year I read Salt to the Sea and adored it. It’s one of my favourite books of the year. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and I feel in love. And now I want all her books.

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: Okay, yes I have a paperback and yes I have read all Katie McGarry books to date, however. I want this series in hardback. They are just so good. That I want them to be nice and matchy.

Santa 4

The Heroes of Olympus Box Set (Paperback) by Rick Riordan: Again I have read these, but I want them in the paperback box set. I have the first series in US paperbacks, however, now I want this one too.

And that is it for this week. What books do you want Santa to leave under your Christmas Tree? Do we share any of the same books? Have you read any books that I want this year? Nevertheless, Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
