“You will go to Rathe University, live among the giftless and those of light magic. You, Knight Deveraux, will learn to coexist.”

I’ve never heard more wasted words in my life. Then again, the gifted counsel never did have much to say that wasn’t. The only members amongst them who speak a thing worth listening to are my parents, the King and Queen of the Stygian’s, the people of Dark Magic.

Unfortunately for me and my brothers, they’ve chosen to play nice instead of sinking their talons into anyone who dares demand a thing from their heirs. In this instance at least.

Every gifted is forced to leave our realm behind after graduation to spend the next four years in a world that isn’t ours while pretending it’s enough for those with something deeper clawing beneath their skin.

It isn’t. Not by a long shot, and while it’s as boring as I thought it would be, we find ways to entertain ourselves.

A little Fae Dust, the power of persuasion, and it’s a party worthy of a royal … or four.

That was fun the first year, but it’s my second now, and the minute I got back to campus, I knew it would be worse than before. I felt it, that pull buried beneath my skin, the whisper of a warning deep in my mind I could hear but couldn’t reach.

It starts with a human party and ends with a fucking nightmare.

A five-foot, white-haired one.
With eyes like ice and a body begging to be bitten, she’s a problem.

A giftless one.

That’s right, she’s human.
Worthless.
And if the shadow circling my soul is telling me what I think it is … she belongs to it.
My new obsession … is my fated mate.

But there is no way the fates would give me, a Lord of Rathe, a heir to the throne of dark magic, a giftless girl.

I’ll prove they got it wrong.
That she’s not mine.

If I’m lucky, I’ll destroy her in the process.

Fate of Royal:

Thank you to Meagan Brandy and Amo Jones for a review copy of Fates of a Royal. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

Before reading this book, please check the trigger and content warnings. This is an enemies-to-lovers paranormal fantasy with high spice levels, bully elements, fated mates and more.

Okay, I wanted to love this book so much. It has so much I want from a fantasy and Paranormal book. And while I didn’t love it, I still very much enjoyed it. It’s a solid 4-star for me.

If Knight wasn’t forced to come into the non-gifted world, he would have probably not crossed paths with London. And now all London and Knight seem to be doing is crossing paths. And each time they do, well let’s just say it keeps on getting hotter and hotter. What started with looks turned into something more. But life isn’t easy, and things aren’t what they seem.

As London’s life starts to take a turn and things she would have never believed before start to become a reality, Knight is struggling with the belief that something like London, a giftless is his mate. As the son of the King and Queen of Stygian, people of Dark Magic. She isn’t worthy of him. But things start to heat up fast and the more time London and Knight start to spend together the more their bond starts to form.

I liked London as a female protagonist in Fate of a Royal. She just has a lot of fun and didn’t really give a shit of what people thought of her and that makes it entertaining. I think her character development was well done. And with the ending of Fates of a Royal, I am very intrigued to see what happens with London and how her arc goes.

Knight is a douchebag and I love him. He is an arsehole but gosh he is hot. There isn’t much to like about him. But he is an interesting character though and that is what made me want to know more and more about him. We learn a little about him and his world, but we have barely skimmed the surface.

I would not call what these two have right now a romance. Is it intense? Yes! Is it sexy? Yes. Is it hot? Hell yes. Am I excited to see what happens between these two after the ending? Umm, yes, I need to know now!

It’s a slow start in Fate of a Royal, but I didn’t find that to be a bad thing. I thought that it was well done. It slows bought us into a world, which we don’t know too much about. And as the book goes on, we find out a little bit more here and there. I do feel at times I didn’t understand the world fully and hope we get to learn more about it in the next book.

I also don’t think a whole lot happened in this book. It felt like it was a lot of build-up for what is to come. And for me, that isn’t a bad thing either. I enjoyed character-driven and world-building quite a lot. I do feel at times there needed to be a little more action and not the sexy kind. But something a little more to drive the book.

I was very intrigued by this writing duo. It’s not two people that I could even imagine writing together. I just recently read Meagan Brandy’s books, but I haven’t read anything from Amo yet. But I am excited to try. I don’t know how these two wrote Fate of a Royal, but there wasn’t anything distinctive that I could tell when they switched up who may be writing. I like that. There were times when I did feel the writing was a little clunky, but as the book went on, I felt more settled in the book and didn’t notice it as much.

Overall, I liked Fate of a Royal. A lot. I am intrigued, scared, and excited to see what the next book brings. It’s got high heat with a little bully and hate-to-love vibes. It’s a world with monsters and darkness and a lot of secrets hidden away. Meagan Brandy and Amo Jones have created a world that has caught my eye and I am excited to see where it goes. It’s not perfect, it has a few things that I didn’t like, but with how it ended, oh boy do I want to read it right now.

If you like a paranormal romance with hate to love, fated mates and a lot of spice. Fate of a Royal may be the one for you.

Have you read Fate of a Royal by Meagan Brandy and Amo Jones yet? What did you think of it? Are you planning on reading it? Nevertheless, are you loving all the paranormal and fantasy coming out at the moment? Because I know am! What are you reading at the moment? So, let’s chat!

Books with Red, White And Blue Covers That I Love

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 2 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books that I have liked reading with red, white and blue covers. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

The topic for this week Top Ten Tuesday was a little different. It’s all about the colours of your country’s flag. Since I am from Australia, our colours are similar to a lot of other flags of the world, and they are Red, White and Blue. So today I’m sharing the books that I have enjoyed reading with red, white or blue covers. They can have other colours in there, but they are to be predominantly; red, white or blue. This was a lot of fun and I had a great time going through the books I’ve enjoyed and finding covers that match.

Anyway, let’s get into it. Here are the books that have either red, white or blue covers. As always these are in no real order.

The Longing of Lone Wolves (Fae Guardians. #1) by Lana Pecherczyk. | The Kraken’s Sacrifice. (A Deal With a Demon, #2) by Katee Robert.  | A Soul to Keep (Duskwalker Brides. #1) by Opal Reyne. | A Little Too Wild. (Madigan Mountain, #3) by Devney Perry.

Pucking Around (Jacksonville Rays, #1) by Emily Rath. | Not Your Pucking Girl (Kings of Denver #1) by Sheridan Anne. | From Lukov with Love Mariana Zapata. | Death Wish (Reaper Reborn, #1) by Harper A. Brooks.

Two Wrongs Make a Right (The Wilmot Sisters, #1) by Chloe Liese. | Where Good Girls Go To Die (Good Girls, #1) by Holly Renee.

So, there we go! That was a lot of fun. I had a great time putting this post together. What are some of the books that made it to your list? Are there any books that we both have on our lists? Nevertheless, Let’s Chat!

Books on My Winter 2023 to-Read List

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 7 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books I want to read this winter. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I know it’s been a little bit since I posted, but life is getting a little in the way. Last week I got back from the Ballgown and Books Event in Syndey and went right back to work. Which meant I didn’t have much time to get in posts done. So I thought a great way to get back into it, is to share the books I want to read in the coming months.

It’s winter now here in Australia and the more it rains the more I want to stay inside even more. And what better way to stay warm and dry than to read as much as I want? Today I’m sharing the books that I’m hoping to read in the next couple of months. From books that have been on my tbr for a while, to newer books that have caught my eye. And hopefully, I can continue some series’ as well. As always these are in no order, let’s go!

Please check the trigger and content warnings before picking up any of these books.

The Ritual by Shantel Tessier | Reckless (Chestnut Springs, #4) by Elsie Silver. | If Only You (Bergman Brothers, #6) by Chloe Liese. | Moon Touched (Zodiac Wolves, #1) by Elizabeth Briggs.

A Soul to Heal (Duskwalker Brides, #2) by Opal Reyne. | Princes of Chaos (Royals of Forsyth University, #7) by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue. | The Sinner and the Scholar by Lana Pecherczyk. | Poison Roses (Boys of Bellerose, #1) by Jaymin Eve and Tate James.

Waiting to Score (Pierson U #1) by Elouise Tynan. | The Unwanted Marriage (The Windsors, #3) by Catharina Maura.

And there we go. Those are some of the books that I want to read in the coming months. Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading any of these books? Nevertheless, what is on your winter/summer tbr? So let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

With a tarnished reputation and an undetermined future in F1 that hangs by a terribly loose thread, he can’t afford to lose his seat. Thiago is ready to do anything to redeem himself and erase his past mistakes. When a mysterious woman intrudes on his private party in Monte Carlo, he is certain the universe has brought his polar opposite into his life as salvation. He is sunshine, she is moonlight; he is a bright star and she is a moonbeam.

Destiny takes the wheel, steering Kamari into Thiago’s orbit, but her open disdain and closely guarded heart warn her to stay away. Enchanted by her charms, Thiago is intent on melting her freezing barriers and tearing down the walls shielding her heart.

When Kamari agrees to help him save his future by being his fake girlfriend, the unexpected happens, triggered by a game of lies, secrets and desire.

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
