The Liebster Blog Awards

Posted by angelreads Features 4 Comments

The other morning I woke up to a lovely tweet from the lovely Amanda from Book Badger  telling me that she nominated  me for The Liebster Blog Awards. I was just  so dumb foundered and incredibly grateful. I may have been blogger for over a year now but I am still  quite small and receiving this award just made me smile. So I cannot thank Amanda enough.

The Liebster Blog Awards are all about getting other blogs with predominately less than 200 follows some more recognition for the time and effort they put into blogging, and I think that’s a fantastic idea, and as the rules state, it is my turn to do the same. There are some rules though..

Untitled

1) Make sure you thank and link back the person who nominated you.
2) List 11 facts about yourself.
3) Answer the 11 questions put forward by whoever nominated you.
4) Ask 11 new questions to 9 bloggers. They must have less than 200 followers on Bloglovin’ (or their preferred method).
You cannot re-nominate the blog that nominated you.
5) Go to their blog and inform them that they have been nominated!

If they can survive, they are each other’s best hope for finding answers.

Review

Under the Never Sky is one of those books that I had wanted to read for a while as it sounded different, interesting and just damn good. So I went into it with pretty high expectations from both on what people have said and from what I had read from the synopsis and I was not disappointed.
I loved alot about this book from the plot, to the characters, to the writing style of Veronica. The Story just seem to captivate me and I turned page after page not realising how much I was reading as I just could not put the book down.  Like come on it’s set in post-apocalyptic world prone to energy storms in which the few human survivors are either Dwellers, living in government controlled pods, or Outsiders, living in the wasteland this is totally unique and different and just so interesting to me.
I did get a little confused with the world and concepts at the start but after a while I got used to it, also I did feel that there were some gaps but I guess that’s because our main characters are the narrators and they are left confused about the world we are too.
I loved out main characters Aria and Perry. Aria is so strong considering that all things she thought we true aren’t. She went through so much at the beginning both mentally and physically and it was only in the first few chapters and she grew more and more in strength throughout. I felt that I grew with her as she grew strong, I grew strong as well don’t even know how this makes sense but I felt like this. I also loved seeing the change in Aria over the course of the story. Aria is totally different at the end of the novel from the start.
I love Perry, just everything about him. They way her cares for his nephew, they way he talks about the family even though they have done and did do some horrible things. He is strong like Aria both mentally and physically, his protective of both his family, friends and eventually Aria, his also this tough guys but he is one of the nicest guys I’ve seen/read after you break down the tough exterior that he holds.
The introduction of secondary characters of Roar and Cinder just added a really nice dynamic and I really loved Roar, he was really fun to read about. Roar playful and good-natured cockiness balanced Perry’s serious nature perfectly.
Aria and Perry oh my. They way Aria acts towards Perry at the start is completely different to the way she acts towards him at the end. I loved how the relationship grew very slowly and steady.  At first she could not stand him, even at midpoint she could just stand his present and be on friendly terms. When they finally realised their feelings for each other, I just wanted to scream at them to get together already.
The writing style is in third person rotating POV’s and that is not something that is seen very often and I don’t think I have read I was very surprised at how much I felt, given the style of writing. I could relate to what Aria and Perry were thinking and feeling, even without the use of “I” in the story.
The world was very interesting, and very different. I have actually not read a sci-fi novel ever so this was a whole new genre to me and I really enjoyed it, even if it wasn’t full of sci-fi. The abilities were very and I know I use this word alot but it was very intriguing. I was totally absorbed into this world.
There were so many twist and turns through the novel. They were unexpected and I loved it. At times you thought you knew what was happening or going to happen but then you were throw way off. It was very exciting and new.

Some of the quotes I liked;

“She looked up. “A world of nevers under a never sky.”She fit in well then, he thought. A girl who never shut up.”

“People can be cruelest to those they love.”

I Give Under The Never Sky by Verionca Rossi 5 stars out of 5

Have you read Under the Never Sky? What did you think of it?  If you have yet to read it, would you read it?

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
