Books for People Who Liked Author X

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 4 Comments

This week I’m sharing books you might like if you like a particular author. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I am not going to lie. I really struggled with the topic this week. But thanks to some guidance from Ely I twisted the topic just a little. So instead of picking one author for all 10 books. I’ve decided to pick a few different authors to highlight instead of the one. This topic is basically if you like this author, then you may like these books. So let’s get into it.

The authors I picked for this topic are; Elle Kennedy, Julia Quinn, Sarah J Mass and Ali Hazelwood.

If you like Elle Kennedy’s sports romances then you might like The Year We Fell Down (The Ivy Years, #1) by Sarina Bowen. and Getting Lucky Number Seven. (Taking Shots, #1) by Cindi Madsen.

If you like Julia Quinn and historical fiction then you might like reading the Wicked and the Wallflower. (The Bareknuckle Bastards, #1.) by Sarah MacLean and The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke, #1) by Tessa Dare.

If you like Sarah J. Maas then you might enjoy reading Broken Bonds (The Bonds that Tie, #1) by J. Bree and The Longing of Lone Wolves (Fae Guardians, #1) by Lana Pecherczyk.

If you enjoy reading Ali Hazelwood then you might like Two Wrongs Make a Right (The Wilmot Sisters. #1) by Chloe Liese and Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (Bright Falls, #1) by Ashley Herring Blake.

And there we go. Those are the books that I would recommend if you like these authors. From contemporary romance to fantasy romance and more. I hope you pick up some of these. What authors and books made it to your list? Have you read any of the books on mine? Let’s chat!

‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag

Posted by angelreads Book Tag No Comments

It’s been a while since I have done a book tag so I thought that today would be a perfect time. The ‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag was created by Beth at Book Nest. This tag is all about the books that you should have read already. From books people have recommended to you. To books that have been on your tbr for a while.

I have so many books that I say that I should have read by now, or it’s on my tbr. And most of the time I do get to the books, but there are just so many books out here. And with so little time I don’t get to everything. So let’s get into it. Here is the “I Should Have Read That” book tag.

A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read?

I am sitting right next to Ely from Earl Grey Books as I write this post, so I asked her and it’s no surprise that she said Rhapsodic (The Bargainer, #1) by Laura Thalassa. There is no real reason why I haven’t read this one yet. I’ve read from Laura Thalassa before and adored what I did, so I am highly certain I am going to like this one a lot. I do want to get to it soon.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t picked it up?

Oh gosh, there could be so many books that I could pick for this one. But Thicker Than Water Brigid Kemmerer has been on my tbr for so many years now and I haven’t read it yet. I don’t even know why. I have loved everything for Brigid Kemmerer that I have read. It’s even more up my alley now in regard to what I am reading. And it just sounds fantastic. I want to try and get to this one by the end of the year.

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet?

This is another one that I could have many answers for, but Waking Gods (Themis Files, #2) by Sylvain Neuvel is one that I have wanted to read for years and just have never gotten around to it. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and it’s one that I am always recommending to people for an audiobook. But I have just not had the chance to continue the series. I do hope to get to it in the future. I just don’t know when.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read?

Ohh, I think it has to go to Paradise Lost by John Milton. I have always been fascinated by this one, but classics aren’t really my thing. And I honestly don’t read many. There might be a day when I just pick this one up.

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read?

I don’t know if you will be surprised by this answer but it has to be It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. I don’t want to read it and I won’t ever read it.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you just haven’t read it yet?

I had to really think about this one. Because most of the time I’ve read a lot of the books for film/tv adaptations that I love. But I have yet to read The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I have tried but I think I tried when I was a little too young and I couldn’t get into it. I adore the Lord of the Rings and even the Hobbit movies, I can’t tell you how many times I have watched them. But the books always make me nervous.

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet?

Again there are so many books I could have picked for this one. But Midnight Kisses by Jeanine Bennedict is one that I have been wanting to read for a while and one that I have seen quite a bit on all social media really. I’m really excited to pick it up and hopefully, I can do that soon.

And there we go. That is the ‘I Should Have Read That’ Book Tag. I had a lot of fun putting this post together and I would love to see your answers. So if you would like to do this tag, go right ahead. What do you think of my answers? Which books should I read soon? Let’s chat!

New-To-Me Authors I’ve Read In 2023 | Part 1

Posted by angelreads Discussions No Comments

One of the things that I love about reading is trying new-to-me authors and last year I read quite a few of those. Already in 2o23, I’ve read a good chunk of authors that I haven’t read before and I wanted to share them with you.

Reading authors that I haven’t read before is always daunting and exciting at the same time. I am so excited to try an author that I haven’t read before, but I also have no idea how it’s going to go. But I still try and read as many as I can.

Add to this that I am going to at least 2 bookish events this year. I want to try at least one book from as many authors going as I can. So today I’m sharing with you the ones that I have already tried. Some I’ve loved and cannot wait to read more and some I just haven’t enjoyed. But as always these are in no order.

Grace McGinty: Has been on my tbr for a while and I started off with Sticks and Stone, which I ended up really enjoying. I’ve already got a few more of her books on my tbr that I am super excited to read now.

Rosemary A. Johns: I wanted to really like Rosmary’s books. They are right up with what I like but I wasn’t a fan of her writing style or the characters. I ended up reading the first two books in the Pack Bonds series. And they were just eh.

India R. Adams: Had been on my tbr for some time now. And I honestly wanted to love Steal Me, but I ended up really not enjoying it at all. I don’t know if I am going to try other books from India yet, but I might in the future.

B.J. Alpha: I hadn’t heard too much about this author before I picked up the Secrets and Lies series. And I still don’t know what I feel. I read most of the series but it was eh. And I’m not sure if I am going to read more by then in the future either.

Addison Jane: Addison has been on my tbr for a little while now, and I finally got around to reading her this year. I’ve really enjoyed all the books I’ve read from her so far and plan to read more as the year goes on.

Colette Rhodes: I picked Colette up after Ely told me about her and I ended up enjoying her writing and the book I was reading so much that I immediately pre order some of her books for the event I am going to.

Holly Renee: This is another author that had been on my tbr for some time and I finally picked up Where Good Girls Go To Die recently and really enjoyed reading it. I went right into the second book and plan on reading some of her fantasy books as well. I think she could become an author that I read quite a lot of their backlist soon.

Catharina Maura: I’ve left one of the best to last. I picked this one up last month because again she is going to an event I am at. Not only have I seen great things about her books, but I knew there was a high chance I was going to love them. And I ended up reading and really enjoying The Wrong Bride. I plan on reading way more from them very soon.

And there we go. I’m going to make this into a series throughout the year and share all the new-to-me authors I’ve read as we go. Have you read any of these authors’ books? Are you planning on reading them? What are some new-to-you authors that you have read thus year. Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

Thiago is ready to do anything to redeem himself and erase his past mistakes. When a mysterious woman intrudes on his private party in Monte Carlo, he is certain the universe has brought his polar opposite into his life as salvation. He is sunshine, she is moonlight; he is a bright star and she is a moonbeam.

Destiny takes the wheel, steering Kamari into Thiago’s orbit, but her open disdain and closely guarded heart warn her to stay away. Enchanted by her charms, Thiago is intent on melting her freezing barriers and tearing down the walls shielding her heart.

When Kamari agrees to help him save his future by being his fake girlfriend, the unexpected happens, triggered by a game of lies, secrets and desire.

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
