Warner Bros. announce Harry Potter Spin off

Posted by angelreads Movies News No Comments

Warner Bros. has announced a new Harry Potter-related film series based in the world of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

According to J.K Rowling, the first film will be set 70 years before the first Harry Potter book in New York. So therefore I’m thinking that their won’t be many appearances from the Characters from the Harry Potter Series at least in the first movie

Here is the Statement that J.K Rowling made about the movie

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.
As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.

Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.
I particularly want to thank Kevin Tsujihara of Warner Bros. for his support in this project, which would not have happened without him. I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”

 Kevin Tsujihara from Warner Bros. also made this statement;

“We are incredibly honored that Jo has chosen to partner with Warner Bros. on this exciting new exploration of the world of wizardry which has been tremendously successful across all of our businesses,” said Kevin Tsujihara, Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros. Entertainment. “She is an extraordinary writer, who ignited a reading revolution around the world, which then became an unprecedented film phenomenon. We know that audiences will be as excited as we are to see what her brilliant and boundless imagination conjures up for us.”

I know I am very excited for this is anyone else feeling about this?

After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain–people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?

I just love Simone Elkeles and I just cannot wait to read more from her. I love the badboy novels so this is down my alley. I am also liking the Sports novels, as well, they just seem to give a different diamagnetic to a novel.

Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that one of they bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. This weeks To Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

Even though I am always so scared when books are turned into movies as so many amazing books had horrible book to movie adaptations. I just can’t stop myself and wish that some of the fantastic books I have read be turned into movies.

I found this really hard as so many books that I love have or already are being turned into movies, but I tried My hardest. These are in no particular order.

1. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
I just love the whole world that the book centres around and just all the twist and turns would be amazing in a movie. I also love the characters and wish they could be brought to life.

2. Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson
This is one of my most recent reads and I just love the concept of this whole book and haven’t read or seen anything like it before. And come on Alex.. yum.

3. Looking for Alaska by John Green
I think this will be on of those films that every teen and adult needs to watch. The books has so much meaning behind it, that i think it would be such an amazing movie

4. The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger
Again this is one of those books that I think everyone needs to see, especially  teenage girls that feel insecure about themselves, I found out so much about myself while reading this and I think alot of teen girls and boys would get alot out of it.

5. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I know, I know this books is already being turned into a movie, but I do think and hope this will become an amazing movie. And I just cannot wait, the suspense of the whole book, would create an amazing movie.

6. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
This book has so much meaning behind it and just the love in this book is beautiful and just how they fall. I just want one Sarah Dessen Novel to become a movie

7. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
This would be an awesome Movie, it would be a fun movie but at the same time very interesting and for something very interesting.

8. Angel Burn (Angel) by L.A Weatherly
Angels. Trying to take of the world. Love. Car chases.  This is an Epic Book that I think could be an outrageous movie.

9.  Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
Come on hot gang members that falls for the ‘good girl.’ Beaches. Leather jackets. star-crossed lovers.

And I cannot think of a tenth because so many of the books I  want to be movies are already being turned into movies, like Vampire Academy, Divergent, Fallen, Hush Hush, Delirium (TV series) The Mortal Instruments.

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
