Recent Additions To My TBR

Posted by angelreads TBR No Comments

It’s time for another post about all the recent books I’ve added to my tbr. As some may know I use my Goodreads tbr not only for books I own but for books I want to keep an eye on. So most of the books on this list here aren’t even out yet. But it reminds me that I do want to read them.

As I said there are a lot of new releases on this list. Most are the next books in the series I’m reading, or from authors. that I have enjoyed reading. And I can’t wait to get stuck into all of these. So let’s get into it. And as always these are in no order.

Maniac (Necessary Evils, #7) by Onley James | Icebreaker (UCMH, #1) by Hannah Grace. | Hades (A Demon’s Guide to the Afterlife #4) by Kel Carpenter and Aurelia Jane | Anastasia by Sophie Lark.

Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail (Bright Falls, #2) by Ashley Herring Blake | A Little Too Late (Madigan Mountain #1) by Sarina Bowen. | Monsters Born and Made by Tanvi Berwah | A Soul to Heal (Dustwalker Brides, #2) by Opal Reyne.

One Pucked Up Pack by Sarah Blue | Speeding Hearts (Blue Collar Romance, #7) by Claire Wilder. | How to Get a Girlfriend (When You’re a Terrifying Monster) (Monster Girlfriend, #1) by Marie Cardno. | Thicker Than Water by Becca Seymour.

And there we go. Those are the recent books I’ve added to my tbr. Have you read any of these books or books from these authors? What books have recently been added to your tbr? What is one you cannot wait to read? Let’s Chat!

Bookstores I Would Love To Visit

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 10 Comments

This week I’m sharing bookstores around the world I would love to visit. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

So I don’t know if you know this, but I work in a bookstore. It’s my full-time job and I love it to bits. So today’s topic was a lot of fun to write up. If I ever see a bookstore I go into it. It doesn’t matter where I am, or what country I’m in. I need to go in. So today I’m sharing the bookstores worldwide that I would love to visit.

Let’s imagine I had all the time and money in the world so I could travel to all of these places and buy whatever books that I would like. That is the dream. As always these are in no order.

Shakespeare and Company, Left Bank, Paris, France

Shakespeare and Company opened in 1951 and now sells, new, secondhand and antique books. This bookstore looks like the dream. And I want to go there. I see all these images books of stacked books and beautiful interiors and it makes me want to go there even more.

Libreria Acqua Alta, Venice

A floating bookstore sounds absolutely terrifying. But I want to visit. Founded in 2004 this bookstore has books floating in boats, tubs and even a gondola. Venice has been on my bucket list for years and when I stumbled along this bookstore. I knew I wanted to go even more.

El Ateneo Grand Splendid, Buenos Aires

In 2000 this old theatre and cinema was converted into a book and music shop. This beautiful building now stores thousands up thousands of books. Named one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, there is no question that I would love to walk these aisles.

Honesty Bookshop (Hay Castle Bookshop, Hay-on-Wye, Wales

This bookstore is manned and every book is a euro or under. Some concept of this bookshop has been around for the 1960’s and all that is required of you is to drop your money in a box. I’ve seen this concept around in a few different places, but this one just sounds brilliant. And I need to go. I mean it’s also gorgeous as well.

The Ripped Bodice, California

This romance only bookstore opened in 2016 and has been on my bucket list ever since. I also don’t want to go to this place because gosh I would spend why too much money and would never be able to bring all the books home. I love that The Ripped Bodice doesn’t only have romance books but all types of romance books and I am here for that.

Boekhandel Dominicanen, Maastricht, Netherlands

I can’t get over the beauty of this bookstore and I just want to go now. In 2006 this over 700 year old Dominican church was restored and turned into a bookstore.

Foyles Bookshop, London, England

I went to a lot of bookstores when I was in the UK, but I never made it to a Foyles. Founded in 1903 there are a fair few around England, but I would love to see the Charing Cross Road store. I just want to go back to the UK really.

Persephone Books, Bath, England

An independent publisher and bookstore located in Bath. Founded in 1999, they reprint books mostly by women from the late 19th and 20th century. All of the books they publish have grey dust jackets and gorgeous end pages. I’m so sad that I didn’t go the last time I was in Engliand.

And there we go. Those are the bookstores that I would love to visit around the world. What book stores made it to your list this week? Have you been to any on my list? Let’s Chat!

September Wrap Up

Posted by angelreads Monthly Wrap Up No Comments

After a not-great August, I was really looking forward to getting back into reading in September. And I did. It was really nice getting back into and enjoying what I was reading. And I didn’t read as much as I usually do, I feel like I am more in a reading mood.

This month I read a range of romances this September. From darker fantasy, to contemporary and more. I had a lot of fun reading different romances this month. While there wasn’t anything I gave 5 stars, I still enjoyed nearly everything I read in September.

Anyway enough of all this talk. Let’s get right into it. Here are all the books that I read in September that got me back into my reading grove. So, as always these are in no order.

Steel King (Clifton Forge, #1) by Devney Perry – 3.5 Stars | Riven Knight (Clifton Forge, #2) by Devney Perry. – 3.5 Stars | Stone Princess (Clifton Forge, #3) by Devney Perry – 3.5 Stars | All Packed Up (Sweet Omegaverse, #7) by Lana Kole – 3.5 Stars.

Their Vicious Darling (Vicious Lost Boys, #3) by Nikki St. Crowe – 4 Stars | Mad Man (Necessary Evils, #5) by Onley James – 3.5 Stars. | A Soul to Keep (Duskwalker Brides, #1) by Opal Reyne – 4 Stars | Pack’s Promise by Victoria Kent – 2 Stars.

Eyes on Me (Salacious Players Club, #2) by Sara Cate – 4 Stars | Give Me More (Salacious Players Club, #3) by Sara Cate – 4 Stars | Mercy (Salacious Players Club, #4) by Sara Cate – 3.5 Stars. | I Like You Like That by Kayla Grosse – 3.5 Stars.

And there we go. Those are the books that I read getting back into reading this September. And while I didn’t read as much as I wanted to. I still read a good amount and I am really excited to go into October.

It’s really nice ticking some books off my tbr this month. I read from authors I’ve liked reading before and knocked some more books from series I’ve started. Nevertheless, I am excited to continue these series as well.

What did you read this September? What was your favourite book? Have you read anything that I did this month? So what are your bookish plans for next month? Let’s chat!

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
