Books On My Winter 2022 To-Read List

Posted by angelreads TBR, Top Ten Tuesday 5 Comments

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is Winter TBR’s Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

It is supposed to be a summer tbr. However, since it’s winter here in Australia, I’m sharing the books that I am hoping to read this winter.

In July I’m doing the Indie Accords and I’m hoping to read as many books of that tbr as possible. There are also some traditionally published books I want to read as well. There is a mix of dark romances, contemporary romances and a little in between. As well as new releases and backlist titles.

Now, let’s get into it these are the books I want to read this winter. As always these are in no order.

Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh | A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall. | The Never King (Vicious Lost Boys #1) by Nikki St. Crowe | Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert.

Moonstruck (Necessary Evils #3) by Onley James | Blood Bonds (The Bonds That Tie #3) by J. Bree. | Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy | Promises and Pomegranates (Monsters & Muses #1) by Sav R. Miller.

Archangel’s Kiss (Guild Hunter #2) by Nalini Singh | Lovelight Farms (Lovelight Farms #1) by B.K. Borison.

And there we go. Those are some of the books that I plan to read this winter. What are some of the books that you are planning to read the next few months? Have you read anything from my list? Did you like them?

What have been some of your favourite books that you have read this year? What have been something you haven’t liked?

Quick Reviews Of Recent Reads That I Have Loved

Posted by angelreads Book Reviews, Mini Reviews No Comments

Today I thought I would share some quick and small reviews of recent reads that I have loved. I don’t have as many reviews these days as I used to. But I still try and get as many done as I can. So today I thought I would share some quick and small reviews of some of the books that I have loved recently.

Let’s just get right into it. As always these are my thoughts and opinions, but I would also like to hear yours. I do want to say that I don’t give 5-star reviews out much. But all of these are 4 stars and above. Let’s go.

One Night in Garoureve (The Shifters of Garoureve #1) by Elle M. Drew: This is a book that I have been wanting to read for a little, and finally got around to it recently. And I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. From the start, I was taken by not only the world but the characters.

When Ariana pulls into a small town, she just wanted a place to sleep and something to eat. And she got so much more. Garoureve is mysterious, doesn’t appear on a map and doesn’t get many visitors. So when Ariana appears, everyone takes notice. But not as much as  Colburn. After a night together, they thought they would never see each other again. But Ariana is brought back to this town and back to Colburn.

I really did enjoy these two together. They were sweet and spicy and he worshipped her. It’s quite a quick read so the romance does move quite fast as well. And while I didn’t really have a big problem with it, I wasn’t a fan that Colburn hid something big from Ariana for most of the book. And that caused some issues.

Other than that, I enjoyed the writing style. It was easy to read, at times it was a bit clunky. However, that isn’t a major deal for me. The world was interesting and I liked the concept of the town as well. The romance was fun and sexy. It was just a really good read overall. If you are looking for a fun, new and fresh shapeshifter romance, then pick this up.

Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (Bright Falls #1) by Ashley Herring Blake: This has become one of my favourite reads of the year. I try and recommend it to everyone that is buying romance at work. It’s just fantastic.

When Delilah comes back to her hometown to be the photographer for her step-sister’s wedding, she didn’t expect her life to change. Delilah’s memories of Bright Falls are filled with loneliness and grief. And she wanted nothing more than to never return. But then she runs into Claire Sutherland. A friend of her step-sister and someone who she never thought she would fall for. But as they spend more time, well that changes for sure.

The romance in this one was just fantastic. Seriously, I couldn’t stop smiling, the whole time I was reading. Delilah and Claire aren’t two alike, but when they are together, they just work. I liked seeing them go from little looks to not wanting to let the other go. It’s hot, smutty, but also very sweet.

This book is more than the romance, it’s an emotional ride. With both Delilah and Claire having to sort through their lives. They both have to come to terms with their past and try and move on. I’m so excited for the next book!

Kulti by Mariana Zapata: I’ve been slowly making my way through Mariana Zapata’s backlist and I finally got to Kulti. This is one that I have seen around quite a lot and it’s a sports romance, so of course, I needed to give it a try.

This one follows Sal Casillas as she tries to play nice with her new couch Reiner Kulti. Her icon isn’t who she thought he would be. He is mean and isn’t really a great couch at all. But there is something there. And between giving him a lift and learning a little more about one another things change.

If you are looking for a fast-paced romance then this isn’t it. Kulti is a very slow burn. But I adored it. I loved seeing both Sal and Renier slowly fall for one another. What I liked most was readers noticing it before they even did. It’s slow and sexy at the same time.

The writing is very much a Mariana Zapata book, and it has quickly jumped up to one of my favourites. It’s a great slow burn, with an interesting plot and characters. And it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster where you just want to give a big hug to both Sal and Ren. If you are looking for a good slow-burn romance with an age gap and a female killing it in sports, then this is for you.

And there we go. Those are some of the recent books that I really enjoyed reading. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Are you planning on reading them? Let’s chat!

Indie Accords 2022 TBR

Posted by angelreads Indie Accords, TBR No Comments

Today I’m doing something a little different. I am not normally one to participate in readathons. I’m a massive mood reader and I can’t really sick to tbr’s that much. But July is the month of the Indie Accords and well nearly everything I read these days is Indie.

The Indie Accords is a month-long readathon that celebrates indie and self-published books. It was created by the lovely Lana from Lore & Lullabies. You can check out her blog and youtube now. It begins July 1st in your own timezone and runs until 11:59 pm 31st of July.

You can check out more information about the Indie Accords here. But also check out the hashtag #IndieAccordsReadathon22 on Twitter to see what everyone is planning to read.

While also reading as many indie books and self-published as you can, there is also prompts that you can also complete. So today I’m sharing with you the books that I’m hoping to read throughout the month to complete these challenges. Because I am such a mood reader, I am picking a few books per prompt and will just see what I feel like reading.

Anyway, here we go. I’ve split this up into the prompts, but I will also just read other indie books throughout the month. I might not read everything from this list. But I want to read at least one from each prompt. So let’s go.

Read A Host Favourite – Check them out here.

Air Awakens (Air Awakens #1) by Elise Kova | Lovelight Farms (Lovelight Farms #1) by B.K. Borison | The Flames of Albiyon by Jean Menzies | Fantasy of Frost (The Tainted Accords #1) by Kelly St. Clare.

Read an author from a different country to the one you live In.

Stalked by the Kraken (Monstrous Matches #1) by Lillian Lark | The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert | Moonstruck (Necessary Evils #3) by Onley James | The Beast (Wicked Villains #4) by Katee Robert.

Read a book for its cover.

A Cursed Kiss (Myths of Airren #1) by Jenny Hickman | Tales You Win (Grim & Beast Duet #1) by Bea Paige | Her Soul to Take (Souls Trilogy #1) by Harley Laroux.  | Lore & Lust (Lore & Lust #1) by Karla Nikole.

Read in a different format than you usually do.

For me, this is reading indie books in physical form. So I am going to try and knock off some of the books I have on my physical tbr.

Fortune Favors the Cruel (Dark Maji #1) by Kel Carpenter | Reel (Hollywood Renaissance #1) by Kennedy Ryan. | The Doctor (Nashville Neighborhood #1) by Nikki Sloane | Savage Lands (Savage Lands #1) by Stacey Marie Brown.

Read a 5-star prediction

Hooked (Never After #1) by Emily McIntire | Death (The Four Horsemen #4) by Laura Thalassa | Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss #1) by Nalini Singh.

Read a book with under 200 Reviews

Secret Service by Tal Bauer | Trapped in Garoureve (The Shifters of Garoureve #3) by Elle M. Drew | Little Taste of Need (Creature Cafe #7) by Clio Evans | Little Risk of Fall (Creature Cafe #8) by Clio Evans.

Read a Black, White, Red or Blue cover.

Queen Takes Rose (Wicked Villains #6) by Katee Robert | The Awakening (Zodiac Academy #1) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti | Foolproof Love (Foolproof Love #1) by Katee Robert.

Read a diverse book.

Relay (Changing Lanes #1) by Layla Reyne | Keep Me Close (Gods of Hunger #2) by R.M. Virtues | Ablaze (The Firecracker Cousins #2) by A.H. Cunningham | The Sea Witch (Wicked Villains #5) by Katee Robert.

And there we go. So now I don’t expect to read all of these books. But I at least want to hit every prompt. I’m so excited to do this readathon and I hope that you join me along the way. I’m going to try and do some more posts about indie books that I love in July as well.

Are you joining me in the Indie Accords? If you are what are you planning to read? If you aren’t, what indie books have you loved or want to read? Let’s Chat1

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
