Series I’ve Finished This Year

Posted by angelreads Discussions No Comments

I’m always reading series’ so today I thought I would share with you some of the series I have finished this year. From ones that I have completely read this year to ones that I’ve been reading slowly.

I much prefer to read series either connected or interconnected to standalone, so a lot of what I read is that. I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the series I’ve finished this year so I’m glad that I get to share them with you now.

So let’s get into it. Here are the completed series that I finished reading this year so far. From fantasy to contemporary. Some new to me authors to some old favs. As always these are in no real order.

Dragons of Ember Hollow Series by Tessa Hale. | Tattered & Torn by Catherine Cowles. | Vancouver Wolves Hockey by Odette Stone | Lost & Found by Catherine Cowles.

Shifting Fate by Tessa Hale. | Season of the Wolf by Lana Pecherczyk. | Sweet Omegaverse by Kathryn Moon and Lana Kole. | Knot Their Omega by E.J. Lawson.

And there we go, those are the completed series I’ve finished so far this year! Have you read any of them? Are you planning on reading them? Have you finished any series this year? Let’s chat!

A rugged mountain town seemed like the perfect escape from a life in shambles. But on day one I ran full tilt into the world’s hottest single dad and now all my plans are ruined.

As a chart-topping country singer with a recent streak of bad press it’s hard to find any peace. But I find it in Rose Hill. With a little boy and a little girl who steal my heart just as thoroughly as their dad.

Weston Belmont.

The man is a shameless flirt. He oozes confidence and masculinity in a way that’s downright distracting. And in bed? He’s addictive.

Everything with him is wild and impulsive and I’m desperate to regain some control.

But no one has supported me like West does. And no one has ever made me feel as loved as he does either.

So, while my brain says settling down with a small-town horse trainer is impossible… my heart says I’m right where I belong.

Still, my life as a celebrity haunts me. It has the power to pull us apart.

I can see in his eyes that wants me to stay. And I want that too.

But I know better than anyone that we don’t always get what we want.

Wild Eyes:

I received an earc of Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I love this series. I think it might even bet the Chestnut Springs series for me. There is something about the single-parent trope that works for me. I knew I would enjoy Wild Eyes before I even started reading and I wasn’t wrong.

Would you call it a meet-cute situation if there was a real danger involved but it definitely felt like a meet-cute. West and Skylar just have this energy that fits so well with one another from the start. The banter that they have and don’t realise is fantastic and makes for some fantastic tension and angst.

Skyla just needed to get away from it all. All the fame, the people, the media. And Ford’s new studio gives her that opportunity, what she doesn’t expect is to run into West and his children. I love the relationship that all four of them build with one another. It honestly made me smile so much.

While I liked the journey that Skylar went on, especially concerning her family and career. I do wish we had a better relationship here. I wish she had someone on her side in the industry, eventually, she has Ford and Cora, but I do wish she had someone from the start. At times I also did feel a few times that things were a little clunky, but honestly, it wasn’t a major thing for me. I did just have to re-read a few parts.

Skylar and West together were fantastic, I don’t know if they jump to my favourite couples from Elsie Silver but they are strong contenders. As I said I think they are perfect for each other. They get one another on a different level and without even realising it, they are there for one another. Also, they were so hot together. Damn.

I had a blast reading Wild Eyes. I smiled and I did cry a little but one thing that Elsie Silver is good at is making me feel good while reading her books. Skylar and West were amazing, I loved the little family they created together. If you are looking for a slowly sexy and heartwarming romance, this one is for you. I’m also so excited for the next book in the series!

Have you read Wild Eyes yet? What did you think of it? Are you planning on reading this series? Have you read anything from Elsie Silver before? What are some of your favourite small-town romances? Let’s chat!

MC and Dragons | Mini ARC Reviews

Posted by angelreads Book Reviews No Comments

It’s review time! It’s been a little while since you have seen me, but I am back with some mini arc reviews. Asking For Trouble by Giana Darling and Dawn of Flames by Tessa Hale are two books I’ve been looking forward to reading all year. Asking For Trouble is the next book in the Fallen Men MC series which I have been reading and loving for the last few years and Dawn of Flames is the last book in Tessa Hale’s latest series.

I’ve been in a little bit of a reading slump this year, and not reading to the level I have been over the last few years. So it was really nice to read these two especially because I love both series. So let’s get into it, check out my reviews.

I received an earc of Asking For Trouble by Giana Darling in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I love this series so much so when Giana announced this one, I was super excited. I’ve really enjoyed Boner in the series so I was excited to get into his story. And for him to be swept off his feet. And that he was. While this isn’t my favourite of this series, I still had a great time reading it.

Boner is the class clown of the MC but we also get to see a very different side to him. We see his protectiveness, his passion and his possessiveness as well. As soon as he sees Blue he is taken and I love seeing a hard MC male struck down by this female.

Blue has been through some things and while at first, we aren’t sure what has happened to her; everything starts to unveil itself as the book goes on. I’m not going to lie Blue is my favourite FMC of the series, but I still really enjoyed getting to know her and rooting for her and Boner.

The romance was great, honestly, it was fast, hot and exactly what I think both Blue and Boner needed. They both needed the other to push. And it just worked so well.

I do feel this book moved very fast, I was taken aback by how quickly things were moving not just with the romance but with the plot. I did feel at times I was missing things. There were a few times were I was a little confused, but it didn’t take away too much from the reading experience. I do wish it was just slowed down a little more.

I also love the interactions we get with the rest of the MC crew, the girlies were there! Especially Mei, who is one of my favourite FMC from this series. Curtains and even Eugene had some great interactions here.

Overall, I’m so glad we got another addition to this series, I am so nervous to see what happens next because there were some big things uncovered here.

I received an earc of Dawn of Flames by Tessa Hale in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I only discovered Tessa Hale recently and she immediately jumped to my auto-read author list. I’ve been hanging to read ‘Dawn of Flames’ since I finished book two because of the cliffhanger and I wasn’t disappointed. This series has jumped to one of my quiet favourites

I just love this series. I love the romance, the angst and everything in between. Hayden is a fantastic fmc and as the series has gone we have seen her find herself and her strength. And in ‘Dawn of Flames’ she finds so much more. I loved seeing her grow, and while she has her men there to help her, it’s all her.

The romance is fantastic, I love her relationship with each of the men and how they all grow at different paces. It doesn’t all happen at once. There were times when I did get a little confused as to who was who. But it wasn’t a major hindrance. It was hot, sexy and sweet all the the same time. We see how much Knox, Easton, Caèl, Cillian, and Maddox care and love Hayden.

Action-packed from the start, it wasn’t overwhelmingly intense but still bought the tension. It was a nice balance.

Overall I love this series a lot. It’s a great introduction into why choose, it has dragons and fated mates. They are also super quick reads, which makes them great for binging. I cannot wait to read more from Tessa Hale.

And there we go! Have you read Asking For Trouble or Dawn of Flames yet? What did you think of it? Are you planning on reading them? What are some of the books that you have loved this year? Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
