My Last Few Reads | March 2022

Posted by angelreads Uncategorized No Comments

Today I thought I would do something a little different and share my last few reads. I’ve been in a little bit of a slump recently, so I haven’t read a whole lot. But I’ve read a lot of new to me authors and books and I wanted to share them with you.

Lilacs and Leather (Pack Saint Clair #1) by Thora Woods: This is probably one of my favourite latest reads. It’s also one of my favourite reads so far this year. I fell in love with this world and its characters right away and I could not put it down.

This one has been popping up on my TikTok feed for a while now and I finally caved and it picked it up. And while I am sad that it took me so long, I’m glad. Because it ended on a cliffhanger and I’m in desperate need of the second book. It comes out at the end of April so I still have a little while to go, but I’m so excited to read it.

If you like poly relationships, and omegaverses then pick this one up.

The Vegas Omegaverse 1-2 by Sarah Blue and Ashley Bennett: I have been very much into omegaverse books latest and this one popped up on Amazon while I was browsing. While I didn’t love it as much as I have other omegaverse books. I still had a good time reading it.

At times I felt the book forgot what was actually happening. I felt that her job just kind of went into the background of the book, while it was the main reason for a lot of what happened.

The romance in this was a little up and down for me. On the whole, I really enjoyed all of them and the pack. But there were parts that I wanted more of. Overall I had a good time reading this duo.

Creature Cafe #1-3 by Clio Evans: I don’t know what to say about this series of novellas that I have started. It popped up on my feed recently and it caught my eye. It’s monster romances with a little bit of a twist.

This series of novellas are very spicy and will not be for everyone. There isn’t too much plot, but a lot of sexy time. Each book follows a different couple/trio but the world centres around a cafe, where the owner finds you your life partner/s.

It’s such an interesting concept and I’m excited to more books from this series. While each book is standalone. Characters appear from other books and you might be spoiled of who they end up with.

And there we go. Those are some of my last few reads. I’ve definitely been on a paranormal kick lately and that makes me so happy. What have you read recently? How is your reading going this year? Let’s Chat!

Books On My Autumn 2022 TBR

Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 14 Comments

This week I’m sharing the books on my Autumn/Spring tbr. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I know I always say this, but there are just so many books coming out this year. So today I’m sharing the books that are coming out through Autumn here in Australia. Or the months of March, April and May. I’m so excited for so many books in the coming months and they all didn’t make this list. But these are the ones that if I had them now I would love it.

As most of my lists and reading have been going the past year, most of these books on my Autumn tbr are romances. Which I love. This list is a mish mush of new books in a series, new books altogether and some books from authors I haven’t read yet. So let’s go, as always these are in no order. Here are the books on my Autumn tbr.

Lavender and Lightning (Pack Saint Clair #2) by Thora Woods | Caution to the Wind (The Fallen Men #7). by Giana Darling | Compelled (Shadow Beast Shifters #5) by Jaymin Eve | The Dragon’s Bride (A Deal With A Demon #1) by Katee Robert.

So This Is Ever After by F.T. Lukens | Dating Dr. Dil (If Shakespeare was an Auntie #1) by Nisha Sharma. | I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston | A Duke for Diana (Designing Debutantes #1) by Sabrina Jeffries.

Under One Roof (The STEMinist Novellas #1) by Ali Hazelwood | The Agathas by Kathleen Glasgow and Liz Lawson.

And there we go. Those are the books that I would love to read this Autumn. I’m hoping that will at least get to a few of them. What are you looking forward to reading this autumn/spring

The Bedtime Book Tag

Posted by angelreads Book Tag No Comments

It’s time for another book tag, and today I’m doing the Bedtime Book Tag. This was was created by KellyRob over on Youtube. But I first saw it over on Zezee With Books. I’ve had a lot of fun doing more tags recently, so if there is a tag that you want me to do. Or you want to tag me in one – please do! Let’s get right into the tag.

1. What book kept you up all night reading?

A recent one that kept me up all night was Twisted Games by Ana Huang. I could not put this book down. I needed to know what was going to happen next the whole time.

Twisted Games follows Princess Bridget von Ascheberg as she navigates her life after everything changes. Now she is not only going to be Queen but the person that she just started to fall for the one person she cannot be with. This is sexy, intense and oh so forbidden.

2. What book made you scared to go to sleep?

I don’t read scary books, I just don’t. I don’t even watch scary movies. So I’m changing the way I answer this one slightly. Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare kept me up all day and night reading because I was scared about what was going to happen. The could have gone anyway and I needed to know which way that was going to be.

With the way that the second book ended, I was so nervous to start reading this one. And while it did cause me a lot of pain. Cassandra Clare knows how to write a fantastic ending.

3. What book almost put you to sleep?

If I don’t feel like I’m into a book I stop reading most of the time. But there are a few books that I kept on reading because I had to for school. So this one goes to The Gathering by Isobelle Carmody. On paper, this sounds like my book, especially the time that I read this one. But it just wasn’t. I couldn’t connect with the characters, the plot was very strange and I just didn’t enjoy reading it.

There are a lot of things going on in this book, but I was also so bored. Not being able to connect with the characters, let alone like them just made it such a struggle to get through.

4. What book had you tossing and turning in anticipation of its release?

There are so many books I could pick for this one, but Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert comes out in June and I need it now. I am loving this series so much so far. You can check out the 5 reasons why I loved both Neon Gods and Electric Idol. As well as Ely and I’s discussion on Electric Idol.

This is the first Poly relationship of this series and I am so here for it. I’ve really enjoyed the ones that she has done before and I’m excited to see what she does with Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus. Can I just have it now?

5. What book has your dream partner?

I read romance 95% of the time, so there are so many people that could make this list. But Jonathan Frost from The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese is very high on my list. He just makes everything better. He is grumpy but makes my heart melt all the same.

He is sexy, but adorable at the same time and that just works for me. I read a lot of MC and dark romances but there is something about Jonathan that just wins me over. I think it’s the combo of being soft and sexy. And then how he fights but cares so much. ahhh makes me smile so much.

6. What book world would be your worst nightmare to live in?

Most dystopian or fantasy worlds. Because gosh I would never last. And the world I know I would be gone right away would be the world from The Four Horsemen by Laura Thalassa. I wouldn’t survive very long at all. And it would become my worse nightmare.

The world completely changes, everything that we know is gone and there are mystical beings out to kill everyone? Yer no thank you. Please. Unless a horseman falls in love with me. Then I might be sorta okay.

7. What book cover reminds you of nighttime?

This is How We Change the Ending by Vikki Wakefield takes the cake for this one. It doesn’t just remind me of nighttime. It is nighttime. But it’s not just that it’s dark outside. It’s the bonfire flames that take the cake for me. The way that everything looks lit up.

It’s the sparks of the flames, it’s the way that things are glowing. Also, it’s not pitch black in the background. You can see the light that you sometimes get in the summer, especially here in Australia.

8. What book has a nightmarish cliffhanger?

This is actually a recent read of mine. But I finished Lilacs and Leather (Pack Saint Clair #1) by Thora Woods. And that ending!! I was not ready for it. And I didn’t realise that the series wasn’t finished. And now I’m freaking out because I need to know what happens next.

This is an Omegaverse, poly romance and it’s fantastic. It’s more on the sweeter side with intensity. I’m so excited to read the next book, but oh so nervous.

9. What book have you actually dreamed about?

I actually don’t know what book to pick for this one.

10. What book monster would you not want to find under your bed?

Ohh this is such an interesting question. But last year I read the first two books from the Faeries of Oz series by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell. And everything in this world scares me.

It’s not just the flying monkeys from Oz. There are much darker and scarier creatures throughout the books that terrify me. I don’t read scary books, so I get most of my scares from the fantasy I read and the monsters in this one hit that mark.

And there we go. There is the bedtime book tag. Have you done this book tag before? Do you want to do it? Well, I’m tagging you now.

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
