4 Years of Angel Reads + Giveaways (INT)

Feb 4, 2016

4 years
I never thought 4 years ago that I would still be blogging. I just wanted to talk about the books that I read and love. It wasn’t even for the public, but for me and now I am about to go into my 5th year of book blogging.

I’ve come a long way since then. I changed from blogger to wordpress, got my own beautiful design, have gone to some incredible events that I would have never thought I would have gone too before. I have had some amazing and unbelievable opportunities that still blow my mind when I think about them today.

I finished high school, got into my dream course at university and hopefully going to begin another next year.balloons

Blogging not only gave me so many opportunities to do with books but also gave me so many more friends. Some that I have met, some that I have not. Some that are readers, some are bloggers and some are even authors.

I cannot wait to see what the next years bring and I cannot wait to continue doing this.

I want to thank some people who have been with me from the start, have inspired me or is just a good friend that I know will be there for me.

January Wrap Up
It’s been a wild ride into 2016, but it has also been a fun one. I am back to blogging how I want to be and I am loving it. I hope that you are too. I am trying to get at least 3 posts a week up, sometimes it’s more depending when books need to be reviewed by or if a discussion comes to mind. Are you liking the 3 posts a week? I read quite a bit in January and also posted a whole lot more. So let’s get on it.

books read

jan read 1
–The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson | 4.5 Stars: The Unexpected Everything is for every author, book lover and reader alike. It’s a beautiful story of friendship, heartbreak and family. Morgan Matson brings together a beautiful contemporary novel that makes you smile, laugh and cry. | Review coming soon.
–Beyond the Stars by Stacy Wise | 3.5 Stars: I liked the fluffiness and cuteness of Beyond the Stars, I also enjoyed both Jessica and Jack, however the plot and the romance fell flat for me. It had me wishing for more. | Review
–Salt to Sea by Ruta Sepetys | 5 Stars: Beautiful, captivating, extraordinary. Salt to the Sea is a gorgeous novel that brings to light a catastrophe that seems to be forgotten. | Review

jan read 2

– The Next Together by Lauren James | 4 Stars: A heartbreaking story of love that is so strong that it last forever, just through different people all with the same name. It was gorgeous. | Review coming soon.
– My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier | 4 Stars: I am very confused with how I feel about this book. It messed with my brain and still is. I thought it was fantastic but gosh did it frustrate me a lot. I just feel so angry with it. In saying that Justine Larbalestier is brilliant. | Review coming soon.
– You’re Still the One by Rachel Harris | 4 Stars: Typical Rachel Harris that I know and love. | Review coming soon

jan read 3

– Hallowed Ground by Rebecca Yarros | 4 Stars: Hallowed Ground was a beautiful read that intertwined, family both by blood and friendship. Loss that can bring people closer together or tear some apart. About doing what is right for you and the ones that you love and forgiveness and what it truly means to forgive not only others but yourself. | Review

TTT
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All bloggers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books I’ve Recently Added To My TBR

For this weeks TTT, I went into my goodreads ‘to read’ list, sorted it by date added and then picked the last 10. You will see on this list books that I have talked about before and that is because I sometimes…okay always forget to add books to my ‘to read’ list on goodreads and then it comes up months later and I finally add it. Most of these books also haven’t come out yet, so lets just say I am quite excited for them. These are also in no partiuclar order.

TTT19 2

She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: Cedric Thorn. But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. In the Dark, In the Woods by Eliza Woods: Five Siblings that abide by the strict rule of God, whose messages come directly from their father. Slowly they start to test the boundaries of the laws that bind them. But, at school, they’re still the freaks they’ve always been to the outside world. Marked by their plain clothing. Unexplained bruising. Utter isolation from their classmates. That is, until Castley is forced to partner with the totally irritating, totally normal George Gray, who offers her a glimpse of a life filled with freedom and choice. Released: 26th April 2016

Thicker Than Water by Brigid Kemmerer:  Thomas Bellweather hasn’t been in town long. Just long enough for his newlywed mother to be murdered, and for his new stepdad’s cop colleagues to decide Thomas is the primary suspect.
Not that there’s any evidence. But before Thomas got to Garretts Mill there had just been one other murder in twenty years. The only person who believes him is Charlotte Rooker, little sister to three cops and, with her soft hands and sweet curves, straight-up dangerous to Thomas. Her best friend was the other murder vic. And she’d like a couple answers. Released: December 29 2015

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer: A girl who copes with her mother’s death by leaving her letters at the cemetery, until a boy intercepts them and starts writing back, and soon the two find themselves falling for a stranger–except they’re actually classmates who loathe one another. Released: 2016

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
