Series Review: Wind Dragons MC by Chantal Fernando | Part 2

Series Review: Wind Dragons MC by Chantal Fernando | Part 2

Jul 20, 2019

A couple of weeks ago I shared part 1 of my review of the Wind Dragons MC series, and now it’s time for part 2. As I said in that review, this isn’t my favourite romance, but it’s a fun, addicting series that I couldn’t put down. It’s full of high stakes, high tension and romance that is full of heat and love. Check out my part one reviews now.

Dirty Ride (Wind Dragons MC #3.5) by Chantal Fernando

Pages: 102
Publish date: February 8th 2016
Publisher: Pocket Star
ASIN: B015WNZ60S
Purchase: Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU

Even by Wind Dragon Motorcycle Club standards, Irish was always a bit of a dark horse. Not one to confide his secrets, such as where he got that mysterious scar across his neck, he’s quick with his fists and even quicker to jump to the defense of his MC. But is he nimble enough to handle the woman he never saw coming? Or will she leave him with a matching scar across his heart?

Dirty Ride:

I really enjoyed getting to know Irish in the other books and I love that he finally got his story. Ardan ‘Irish’ is such a charm. He is hella protective, but he is also very sweet. It’s that strange combination of being a sweet alpha male. I don’t really know how it works, but it does.

Tina is running, She is running from her past, from her present and even from her future. But then she has a run in with Irish and everything changes. Tina was a great female protagonist, probably one of my favourites from this series.

There is a lot of drama in this one though. Not so much between Tina and Irish, but between Irish, Tina and her ex. Sometimes these books take it over the edge for me, and this one was close – very close.

In saying all that, I liked this novella. I loved seeing Irish fall in love and taken to his knees. The romance was both cute and sexy and a great little filler for this series,

Rake’s Redemption (Wind Dragons MC #4) by Chantal Fernando

Pages: 336
Publish date: June 28th 2016
Publisher: Gallery Books
ISBN: 9781501139550
Purchase: Book Depository – Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU – QBD

Rake is known for being up for anything, in and out of the bedroom. He’s wild, he’s deadly, yet quick with a joke or a stolen kiss. Known as the player of the WDMC, he loves women, the more the merrier. However, behind his womanizing façade, Rake hides the pain of losing his first love, Bailey. He hasn’t loved anyone since and doesn’t think he ever will.

Seven years after their split, Rake and Bailey run into each other at the MC’s favourite club. Old wounds resurface, secrets are spilled…and passionate feelings are awakened. But they’ve each done things to hurt the other, hurt them too badly to get over it—haven’t they? Only when Bailey’s connection to Rake puts her in danger from another Club member does he realize that there’s nothing he won’t do to protect her—and claim her as his once again.

Rake’s Redemption:

Rake is a really interesting character, but he isn’t a protagonist that I would normally gravitate towards. However, I still enjoyed getting to know him in a different way through Rake’s Redemption. Rake is a womanizer without a doubt so, at times, it was really hard to like him. He also said and did some things throughout the novel that really didn’t sit right with me. I do think that he is my less favourite male protagonist so far in the series.

However, I really enjoyed Bailey as a character. She was fun and sassy, but also tired and I say tried to stay out of trouble. She liked to push Rake and that was really fun to watch. But the tension and everything that went down between them caused a lot of strain. Like most things, if they only talked at the time, they would have most likely still been together.

What I did love about Rake’s Redemption was the notion of second chance romance. It’s one of my favourite romance tropes and I enjoy the way that Chantal dealt with it here. While at times it was hard to read, when everything was finally out, both Rake and Bailey could be themselves.

Overall, Rake’s Redemption was okay. It’s not my favourite out of this by far, but it was still a good read that moved not only the characters along but the series as well.

Wild Ride (Wind Dragons MC #4.5)

Pages: 96
Publish date: July 11th, 2016
Publisher: Pocket Star
ASIN: B017RNBS12
Purchase: Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU

As rival club president Talon has to decide what’s more dangerous: facing down the WDMC, or losing his heart to a woman under their protection.

Talon has a complicated relationship with the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club. He’s the president of their rival club, the Wild Men, but he’s also related to one of their members—who hates him. He could handle that, but he’s also got problems in his own club; someone is leaking information and disrupting their business, but Talon can’t find the mole. So the last thing he needs is even more complication in the form of a beautiful single mother who’s bolder than half the bikers on his squad. But he can’t take his eyes—or his hands—off her…

Tia’s always been a little reckless, up for a good time wherever she found it, but she’s also a great mom to her young son. So even though she thinks Talon is basically sex on a stick, when she realizes she wants to be more to him than just a club groupie, she has to take things a bit slow. Plus, a momentary attraction, no matter how smoking hot, isn’t worth risking her son’s happiness in any way. Is there any chance that Talon might be up for a more permanent arrangement? Or has Tia leapt before looking once again?

Wild Ride:

I loved Wild Ride so much. It was a fun, quick read that gives the reader insight into Talon, someone who has always caught my interest. This one follows Talon as he tries to navigate this club falling apart and his interest in Tia, who he knows he should stay away from.

I’m always interested in knowing more about the ‘villain’ and antagonist characters and the reader really gets to see many sides of Talon in this one. We’ve seen Talon many times throughout the series so far, but in this one where we get to see Talon from not only his eyes but also Tia’s.

Tia was such a fun character, she knows that she is attracted to Talon and she doesn’t hide it. But she also knows that she has to take this slow with him. I love seeing Tia interact with her son. Seriously she is such a great mom and she will do anything for him.

Overall, Wild Ride was great. I do wish that it was a full novel, but other than that I had a great time reading it. The chemistry between Talon and Tia was spot on and it was just great to read.

And that is it for this post! Have you read the Wind Dragons MC series? What did you think of it? Let’s Chat!

Series Review: Wind Dragons MC by Chantal Fernando | Part 1

Series Review: Wind Dragons MC by Chantal Fernando | Part 1

Jun 9, 2019

I’ve had the first two books in this series on my TBR for ages now, but I finally got around to read them, and now I’ve read the whole series…oops. I am going to say this up front, these aren’t the best romance books I’ve read. But they are fun books, that I know I will re-read it soon. So as I’ve now read the whole series, I thought I would share my thoughts on each of the books. This will be in two parts, and I tried not to talk too much about each one either. But here we go.

Dragon’s Lair (Wind Dragons MC #1) by Chantal Fernando

Pages: 272

When I found my boyfriend cheating on me, I did something stupid.

Or should I say, someone?

Because of that mistake, I’m now stuck in a world I don’t belong in.

I’m a law student. They’re criminals. He’s the vice president of a motorcycle club. I’m a good girl with a strict upbringing. He’s my ex-boyfriend’s brother.

And I’m screwed.

Dragon’s Lair:

It took me a little while to get into Dragon’s Lair. I don’t really know why, but there was something that was holding back from really enjoying it. But after about 50 pages or so, I really did get stuck into the world and couldn’t put the books down.

Faye was always the good girl, but when her boyfriend cheats on her, she needed to let off a little steam. And well it just so happened to be with the vice president of a motorcycle club. And now it’s changed her life forever. Dexter Black never really go on with his family, he just didn’t fit in. And he is living a pretty good life away from it all. Until her finds Faye, his now brothers ex – and oh boy do things change.

Faye wasn’t easy to get along with at the start. She was the typical ‘good girl’ of romance books, but as the novel went on she found her voice. And that is when things got interesting. I loved that Faye didn’t do what she was told to do. She didn’t like Dexter or anyone else in the MC boss her around. She stood up for herself and that was that.

I adored the banter between Faye and Dex. While they didn’t really know too much about each other growing up, they already formed somewhat of a relationship. And as the novel goes on, it grows even stronger.

There are some very cliché moments in Dragon’s Lair, but I still really enjoyed it. Sometimes MC books can be really hard to read, but I think that Chantel has done a fabulous job of combining the hard nature of an MC club and the comedy that a tight-knit group brings.

Arrow’s Hell (Wind Dragons MC #2) by Chantal Fernando

Pages: 352
Publish date: June 16th 2015
Publisher: Gallery Books
ISBN: 9781501106194
Purchase: Book Depository – Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU – QBD

Being the younger sister of a Wind Dragons MC member isn’t as great as you’d think it would be.

I can’t escape the details of my brother’s exploits.
No one tells me anything.
Men who know who I am, tend to stay away from me.

And worst of all:
The members of the MC are off-limits.

When Arrow catches my eye, I make it my mission to make him happy again.

When I fall head over heels in love with him, I just hope he will be there to catch me.
And that my brother doesn’t kill him.

Arrow’s Hell:

After finishing book 1, I jumped right into Arrow’s Hell. I felt that this one was more fast-paced and jumped right into the story – which I really liked. This one also included one of my favourite romance tropes – friends sibling.

Anna has also been looked after by her older brother, but she’s an adult now and wants to live a life of her own. And when her brother sends her new ‘baby sitter,’ Anna knows that she is trouble. Arrow is so hard to resist, but they both know that it’s only going to complicate things even more.

One of the main reasons why I’ve really enjoyed reading this series so far is how real and flawed the characters are. None of them are put on pedestals, and the reader is able to pick out what they don’t like about them. But Anna and Arrow’s flaws is what makes them perfect for one another.

Both are closed up off, but with each other, the reader is able to see a different side to both of them. And as the novel goes on, more is revealed. The chemistry between Anna and Arrow is intense throughout the novel and that is just what makes it so good. Arrow is an Alpha male, but Anna sure knows how to hold her ground.

Again, the family dynamics in Arrow’s Hell is brilliant and I just love seeing the banter not only between the MC members but also their ladies.

Tracker’s End (Wind Dragons MC #3) by Chantal Fernando

Pages: 352
Publish date: August 11th 2015
Publisher: Gallery Books
ISBN: 9781501106217
Purchase: Book Depository – Amazon UK – Amazon US – Amazon AU – QBD

Tracker is everything I’ve ever wanted.

I see him. I’ve watched time change him.

I’ve been patient, but he still hasn’t noticed me. Not the way I want him to. The more time I spend with the MC, the more I understand.

When you want something, you have to take it. You have to fight for it.

And Tracker is more than worth fighting for…

Book name:

Tracker’s End was a lot of fun. Like the other books in the series, there is a great combination of comedy, intense action, and romance. The reader gets to know both protagonists in the previous books, but they both get to shine here.

Lana and Tracker are instantly attracted to each other. But Tracker lives a dangerous life, and while he tries to stay away from her – he can’t anymore. Lana may seem like the innocent character, but she sure has her secrets and I loved it.

Books that include motorcycle clubs are always a hit or miss for me. Sometimes the things that happened can be totally out of this world and not in a good way. Sometimes the things that happen don’t seem real. But this series has a good limit. Somethings that do happen are a little over the top, but for the most part, I can get into it.

There is so much chemistry and intensity between Lana and Tracker and that made reading Tacker’s End so much more fun. I loved that Lana like the other female characters don’t let the men tell them what to do. They can hold their own and rock it. But what I also love is they know and understand when they do need help.

While Lana and Tracker are very different in a lot of ways, they seem to bring out the best in one another and I loved seeing their relationship form.

And that is it for this post. This is also my first post back from my holiday and I am really excited to get back into blogging.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
