Finally Getting Back Into It | September Wrap Up

Finally Getting Back Into It | September Wrap Up

Oct 3, 2021

The past few months have been really up and down with my reading. It wasn’t necessarily a reading slump but I just haven’t been in the mood to read a lot. But in September I think that has changed. I’ve started wanted to read more and it’s been great.

I’ve read a bunch of different books this month. But like most of them the year most of them have been romance. I’ve read a lot of new-to-me authors this month and that has been seriously fantastic. But anyway let’s go like always these are in no order.

Lyric & the Heartbeats (Sweet Omegaverse #4) by Lana Kole – 3.5 Stars | Throttled (Dirty Air #1) by Lauren Asher– 3 Stars |Games We Play (One Night #1) by Dana Isaly – 4 Stars.| Havoc at Prescott High (The Havoc Boys #1) by C.M. Stunich 3.5 Stars.

Chaos at Prescott High (The Havoc Boys #2) by C.M. Stunich. – 3 Stars.| Mayhem At Prescott High (The Havoc Boys #3) by C.M. Stunich. – 3 Stars | Anarchy at Prescott High (The Havoc Boys #4) by C M Stunich – 3 Stars | Victory at Prescott High (The Havoc Boys #5) by C M  Stunich– 3 Stars.

Sacred Embrace (Lightbringer Trilogy #1) by A.J. Ryder – 3 Stars | Vows of a Mobster by Eva Winners – 2 Stars. | A Moment for Us (Willow Creek Valley #3) by Corinne Michaels – 3 Stars | Delinquent (Academy of Misfits #1) by Bea Paige – 3.5 Stars.

Reject (Academy of Misfits #2) by Bea Paige – 3 Stars.| Family (Academy of Misfits #3) by Bea Paige– 3.5 Stars| Beyond the Horizon by Bea Paige – 4 Stars| Steps (Finding Their Muse #1) by Bea Paige – 3 Stars.|

Strokes (Finding Their Muse #2) by Bea Paige – 3 Stars | Strings (Finding Their Muse #3) by Bea Paige – 3 Stars. | Symphony (Finding Their Muse #4) by Bea Paige – 3 Stars. | Rejected (Shadow Beast Shifters #1) by Jaymin Eve – 4 Stars.

Reclaimed (Shadow Beast Shifters #2) by Jaymin Eve – 4 Stars | Reborn (Shadow Beast Shifters #3) by Jaymin Eve – 3.5 Stars | Fallen King (The Fallen Men #5.5) by Giana Darling – 4 Stars | Raze (Scarred Souls #1) by Tillie Cole – 3 Stars.

And there we go. Those are the books that I read in September. How was your reading this month? Have you read any of the books I went through? Are you planning on reading them? Let’s Chat!

A Little Better This Month | July Wrap Up

A Little Better This Month | July Wrap Up

Aug 1, 2021

After a slower June, I really hoped that my reading picked up in July – and it did just a little. The month started off really well, but then we went into another lockdown. And honestly, all I wanted to do was rest and not do anything. So I binge watch tv shows and just chilled.

In saying all this I did read, there was a mix of books this month like always, but it was mostly romance as most of this year has gone. I read some new-to-me authors and books in series I’ve been reading. Anyway, let’s get into it. These are the books that I read this July, as always these are in no order.

With You Forever (Bergman Brothers #4) by Chloe Liese: As soon as I received my e-arc of this I had to read it. And I was not disappointed, it’s simply fantastic. This is by far becoming to be one of my favourite romance series ever | 4.5 Stars

Emerald Lakes #1-#3 by Britt Andrews: This series kept on popping up on my TikTok so I just had to give it a go. I’ve been looking forward to some more paranormal/fantasy romances. While I didn’t love this as much as I thought I would, I still enjoyed it a lot. I haven’t read the fourth book yet as I’m waiting for the fifth one to come out before I finish it off. I’ve heard it finishes on a big cliffhanger and I’m not ready for that. Series so far 3.5 Stars

Ice Planet Barbarians #3.5-7 by Ruby Dixon: I read the first few books of this series last year before I took a little break from the world of blue aliens. But with it all over TikTok, I knew I needed to get on it. These are the best books out there, but they are so much fun to read.

Academy of Stardom #1-#4 by Bea Paige: This is another one that I have seen pop up all over my socials. I use to and still do love watching dance movies, so that appealed to me right away. It’s fun, addicting and I couldn’t put them down. While they aren’t the best-written books out there, I just had a blast reading them.

And there we go, those are the books that I read in July. I’m hoping that August is going to be a better reading both as well so hopefully no lockdowns. Let’s see. What did you read in July? Have you read any of these books

My Slowest Reading Month Ever? | June Wrap Up

My Slowest Reading Month Ever? | June Wrap Up

Jul 1, 2021

I don’t know what exactly happened to me this month, but I didn’t really read at all. I only read – books in June and it has to be one of my slowest months in a long time. Even December where I’m normally super busy and barely have time to read.

But now that I’m thinking about it – it makes sense. Normally around June/July every year I go into a reading slump – never as bad as this one, but it does happen. Anyway, let’s get into what I read this month.

Hard as It Gets (Hard Ink #1) by Laura Kaye: I didn’t read my first book of the month until a week in. This was the first week of lockdown and I was just writing posts and binge-watching tv shows. So I decided to re-read a series I know I’ve enjoyed. It’s okay, was trying to get out of my slump – didn’t help too much | 3 Stars

Hard as You Can (Hard Ink #2) by Laura Kaye: I moved onto book two to see if that would help, but from the start, it was looking to be one of my slowest reading months. This series is entertaining but nothing special | 3 Stars

Lore by Alexandra Bracken: Next I picked up mine and Ely’s recent buddy read and had such a good time. I really loved Lore – you can check out our discussion on Earl Grey Books in a few days. But this is a 4 star read for me | 4 Stars

Undercover Duke (Duke Dynasty #4) by Sabrina Jeffries: This is the most recent Sarina Jeffries and gosh did I love it. It’s a fantastic addition to the series, the romance was great and I could not put it down. You can check out my full review now as well | 4 stars

For Vacation Only by Mila Nicks: I really wanted to love this one, but I didn’t fall in love with as much as I thought I would. I still had a great time reading it, but it was just missing something for me. The romance was adorable though and Blake and Jubilee were so good together | 3.5 Stars

Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas: This is another re-read that I did this month. I felt reading something a little different than I normally do, but didn’t feel like picking something new up. It was still as great as the first time I read it and if you want something a little taboo and has an age gap romance – this is for you | 3 Stars.

Punderworld, Volume 1 by Linda Šejić: I received an earc of this graphic novel and gosh I’m in love. Hades and Persephone and adorable and made my heart melt. I need to read the rest like now. Because the cuteness cannot be contained | 4 Stars.

Without You by Marley Valentine: This has been on my tbr for some time now and I just felt like something that would make me cry but was also feel good. I didn’t love this one as much as I thought I would. It just lacked a lot of things. I kept on waiting for something more – but nothing really | 2.5 Stars

Madison Kate #1 – #4 by Tate James: This series has been on my tbr for a little while now. It’s one that I have been very hesitant about because it’s not usually what I read, but with June being just such a slow reading month, I needed something to get me out of it – and this one did. I read the whole series in less than a week and now I can’t wait to read more books from Tate James. My series review is coming soon.

So while the start of the month did start out being the slowest I have had in a long time. I did finish the month on a high note. What did you read in June? Have you read anything that I did this month? Let’s Chat!

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.

Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I onl Well February wasn’t the best reading month. I only ended up reading 3 books in. 3 pretty fun books but one of my slowest readings months in a while.

And I’m going to be honest here it’s because I’ve been constantly reading Heated Rivalry fanfics. 🤷‍♀️ I’m having the best time though.

How was your reading in February? Any 5 star reads?
