November Book Haul

December 1, 2013 Posted by angelreads Book Hauls No Comments

Library-Books

I just love sharing all the new books or bookish related items such as swag etc that I get throughout the year. So I Decided that at the start of each month I will post what I bought throughout the previous month or received from either publishers, Netgallery, from people or won in giveaways etc.  For example at the start of September, I  make a post about what books or bookish Swag  I bought or received throughout the mouth of  August. I would also like to hear what books you also brought throughout the month as well, maybe we brought something the same.

I bought and received  fair few books through the month of November, and as It was my birthday as well, I got a few books as birthday presents from family members.

I went to another op shop near where I love, this month and picked up 3 books that I have wanted to read for a while for a pretty good bargain. I found a bound up of the Ink Heart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke, I really enjoyed the movie, and I have heard really good things about the books, and it was only $4, so I thought, why not. I also picked up Unearthly by Cynthia Hand, again another book I have heard great things about. The last book I picked up from the op shop was Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr.

I then bought Persuasion by Jane Austen as that’s one of the books I need to read for my English literature class next year.  Just a few Days ago I went to a book launch for These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner, and I got a copy of the book, not just because I was going to the book launch but I have pretty much nothing but amazing things about it and I just cannot wait to read it. I also got my copy signed, by the lovely authors whom are just really nice.

Another Author come down to Melbourne this month, The Bone Season Author Samantha Shannon,  I was lucky enough to go to one of her signings, it also gave me an excuse to buy the book.

As well as buying these load of books, I bought not once but twice my probably most anticipate book of the year… The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead. You may ask why twice, well I just could’t wait! I don’t have a book store close to me so, I buy my books from shops like Target and Big W and I had no idea if they were going to get it on the 19th or even at all. So I bought an Kindle Version so I could read it as soon as it was 19th and then I bought a paperback version from Book Depository which still hasn’t come yet (one thing I hate about living in Australia things so long to get here)

As I said before it was my birthday this month, and the 18th and my aunty got me a few books as my present, which makes made me really happy. She got me Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake  which I have since read and loved to bits, my review will be soon for it. She also got me The Book Thief  by Markus Zusak and Angel Fever (Angel #3) by L.A Weatherly  which I have wanted for a while because I wanted to finish the trilogy.

I also, received 2 books for review from Publishers. From Harper Collins I received Tape by Steven Camden  which is set to be published early February 2014. Thank you Harper Collins

From Allen and Unwin I received an ARC of Almost Dead by Kaz Delanely. Thank you Allen and Unwin.
I also received Some Book Marks this month, from Angela, If you follow her blog, you get FREE bookmarks. Pretty Awesome. I have been following her for ages, but just recently picked the bookmark I wanted. They are pretty amazing  and so is her blog so go check it out!

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
