Things I Like To Do Other Than Read

Things I Like To Do Other Than Read

November 3, 2020 Posted by angelreads Top Ten Tuesday 5 Comments

This week I’m sharing some of my Non-Bookish Hobbies. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I normally don’t talk too much about things other than books here, but with this week Top Ten Tuesday I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that I like doing other than reading.

Cross-stitch: I only started cross-stitching this year and it’s been a great way to relax and just do something with my hands. I also have a bad habit of buying more and more patterns before I’ve even finished one. Some of my favourite patterns have come from WhiteRavenPatterns

Binge Watch TV Shows: One of my favourite things to do especially recently is binge watch tv shows. It’s the perfect way for me to wind down and relax for bed. Some of my recent favourites have been Criminal Minds, Hawaii 5-0 and right now I’m watching CSI: Miami.

Going to musicals: If you follow me on social or even here you know that I love Musicals. So this year has been a little bit of a downer on that part. I did have tickets to a number of musicals this year that obviously didn’t go ahead. Hopefully, everything is back running soon. However, some of my favourites that I’ve seen in the last year have been Hamilton when I was in NY and London and Come from Away here in Melbourne.

Going to the beach: One of my favourite things to do in the summer is head to the beach. I live in a pretty awesome state where a beach isn’t too far from me. I love sitting on the sand, swimming in the water and just chilling. I’ve been pretty much going to the beach since I can remember and it’s just seriously the best.

Drawing: This has been something that I’ve been doing since I was much younger. I love to draw and while I’m not perfect at it, I can draw a little. It’s again something that I like to do as a distraction and just to let my creative side work. Lately, I’ve been using my Ipad and Apple pencil to draw which I love cause no mess!

Travelling: While this isn’t something that I can do now, I love to travel. I just going to new places and finding out new things. I did have a trip planned for Disney the September that just passed. But with our borders currently closed, I can’t go anywhere. Hopefully, soon they can open up and we can be on our way back.

And that is it for this post. Those are some of the things that I love doing other than reading. What are some of your non-bookish hobbies? Let’s chat!

I love going to musicals, too! This year (before COVID) I got to see several fun ones like Miss Siagon and West Side Story. Hamilton is supposed to be coming here next year, but I guess we’ll see since all theaters are shut down right now. I still need to watch it on DIsney+. Hopefully soon.

I LOVE cross-stitching! I used to do it all the time back in the day, but I hadn’t done much until quarantine started. I picked the hobby back up and have cross-stitched almost every day since! I’m just finishing up a big project that took me about 4 months. Currently, I’m back stitching, which is my least favorite part of cross-stitching!

I’m also really bad about buying way more patterns than I will ever realistically have time to stitch! I can’t help it – there are some really fun ones out there. I’ve never heard of the pattern website you mentioned, so I’ll have to check it out. I get most of my supplies from 123stitch.com.

    Happy TTT!

I love musicals too! I actually did get to go see one last month, The Last Five Years in London which they’d put on with all these COVID measures in place and it was so wonderfully done, definitely a light in a very dark year! I seriously hope theatre ends up okay after all this, my country’s government isn’t doing anywhere near enough to support theatres and theatre workers. I also really love to travel, getting to see new places is one of my absolute favourite things and I can’t wait to do it again once we’re able to!

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
