Monthly Wrap Up

July Wrap Up

Jul 31, 2015

July Wrap Up

Hi all! Sorry that I haven’t been around this month, but I am back at university this month and I am trying to get back into the kick of things. Also my first assessments are due in the next couple of week so trying to get all them done. But after next weekend I should be back to my old self.

So July has been sort of, a down month for me. So because of that I haven’t read many books or posted any reviews or posts this month.

But I did buy and borrow quite a couple of books this month. I also received some books this month.

Books Read

– What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick:  I really didn’t like it as much when I started to read it; but after about 80 or so pages I was really enjoying it | 3.5 Stars
– Lorali by Laura Dockrill: I really, really enjoyed this book. It was different, unique and beautiful | 4 Stars | Review
– Scarlet by Marissa Meyer:  I loved Cinder, I though it was amazing and I loved Scarlet just as much. I cannot explain how much I love Wolf and Scarlet. Just my heart | 4.5 Stars.
– Cress by Marissa Meyer: I think that Cress, might be my favourite of the three so far. The thing that I love about Marissa Meyer is that all her female protagonist and their men are all amazing | 4.5 Stars.
– Sea Hearts by Margo Lanagan: The writing is beautiful, gorgeous; I can’t explain it. But I had a hard time wrapping my head around what was going on and the world | 3 Stars

Life

Like I said at the start, I am back at university after my mid-year break. And while I am trying to get back into it all, I am loving it. I am a full time student so I take 4 courses (classes) so I am quite busy.

I am also back into writing; I had a bit of a slump last month but I am writing more and loving it. I also started or have an idea of a new manuscript and I really like the idea so I am really excited.

This month has been very slow. But I hope that you enjoyed this two reviews.

June Wrap Up

I haven’t done this in a while but as I love reading everyone else’s wrap up’s I thought I would start doing my wrap ups again. June has been quite a good month; no uni, lots of reading and some tattoos!!

On the Reading Front, I read 10 books in June. I am pretty proud that I read that many books but when I don’t have any classes and all I am doing is sitting at home for a month.

I have also been going to the library a lot the past couple of months which is helping me read books that I have wanted to read for ages.

Books Read

– A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J Mass: I adored this books so much. I couldn’t put it down; just everyone read it. 4.5 Stars | Review
– The Potion Diaries  by Amy Alward: I liked The Potion Diaries but didn’t love it. 3 Stars| Review
– 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher: It made my cry but it was also really beautiful. 4 Stars.
– What Lies Within by James Morris: A interesting YA thriller. 3.5 Stars | Review
– Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover: Not my favourite Colleen Hoover but I still really enjoyed it. 4 Stars
– Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: I liked it but didn’t love it. 3.5 Stars
– Anya and the Shy Guy by Suzi Winegarnder: My favourite from the series, and I really enjoyed the writing style of Suzi Winegarnder. 3.5 Stars

Life

So as I said before I was on break from uni. It’s been so good, I was so exhausted from my first semester and it was so good to have a break. So yes I have finished my first semester of uni and I loved it so much. I love my course so much, I learnt so much and cannot wait to learn more.

I also did some brave at the end of the month, something that I have wanted to do since I was 12 years old and I am so glad that I did it. If you follow me on social media you know what I am talking about. I got two tattoos!! I am in love with them so much and they are healing up nicely.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
