Top Ten Tuesday

Books I Have Read In One Sitting | TTT

Books I Have Read In One Sitting | TTT

Jul 20, 2021

This week I’m sharing the books that I can read in one sitting. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I can read a lot of books in one sitting. It’s actually not too hard for me. I am quite a fast reader and that means I can knock out a book in a few hours. I don’t do it as much anymore simply because I work full time. But it does still happen. Anyway let’s get into it, here are the books I’ve read in one sitting. Some may surprise you!

Halo (Fallen Angel #1) by Ella Frank, Brooke Blaine: This one was easy to read in one sitting. I started to read it and before I knew it I was finished. It’s just over 250 pages. I think I’ve read each of the books in this series in one sitting as well.

Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper, #1) by Alice Oseman: Like the previous book, I’ve read each of these volumes in one sitting. They are just so easy to do and I really want to pick up some more graphic novels soon.

Truth or Dare by Danielle Allen: This is a novella so finishing this in one sitting was pretty easy. I also did enjoy it – so that did make it so much easier. It was a fun, quick read. And it’s great to pick up if you want to read something that won’t take you long.

Birthday Shot by Rilzy Adams: This is another great novella that hits all the right places. It’s an easy one-sitting read for anyone really. It’s over before you know it and even though you do want more – you are good.

The Duchess Deal (Girl Meets Duke #1) by Tessa Dare: Most of the time historical romances are books that I can read in one sitting. And that was no different for The Duchess Deal. I love this book and series so much and I’m hanging for the last book – hopefully we will get it soon.

Only When It’s Us (Bergman Brothers #1) by Chloe Liese: Like historical romances, contemporary romances are also pretty easy for me to read in one sitting. And as soon as I started Only When It’s Us – I knew I was going to love it. This whole series is also fantastic.

Dear Martin (Dear Martin #1) by Nic Stone: While this isn’t classed as a novella, it is on the shorter side, especially for a YA book. And while it’s small it packs a punch. This book is so good that I couldn’t put it down and if you haven’t read it, then please do pick it up.

Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men #1) by Giana Darling: You know those books that you just pick up and before you know it, you have finished it? This is one of those. I only started reading Giana Darling last year – but this whole series has taken me by surprise, and I was able to finish this one in one sitting.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices #1) by Cassandra Clare: Now I’m not sure how I did this one. I honestly have no idea. I just picked it up and didn’t put it down. I’ve read a few of Clare’s in 2 or 3 days, but this was by far the fastest.

The Kingmaker (All the King’s Men #1) by Kennedy Ryan: This is another one of those books that I just could not put down. It was addicting and I needed to know what was going to happen next. And then the ending? Umm yer, let’s just say I made the mistake of reading this before the second book came out.

And there we go, those are some of the books that I have read in one sitting. Have you read any of these books? What books have you read in one sitting? Let’s Chat!

Also if you don’t follow me on social media and want to you can. I have Twitter, Instagram and now I’m on TikTok. And I’m having a lot of fun!

Reasons Why I Love Reading | TTT

Reasons Why I Love Reading | TTT

Jul 6, 2021

This week I’m sharing why I love to read. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I love to read. I don’t think that is a big shock to anyone. Angel Reads was created nearly 10 years ago because I loved reading so much I wanted to share it with others. I wanted others to experience books and reading as I do. And 10 years on I still feel the same. So today I’m sharing the reasons why I love to read.

Discover new worlds: One of my favourite things about reading books, especially fantasies is being able to discover new and exciting worlds. I love falling into worlds that authors have created and being immersed in everything. It’s just fantastic and one of my favourite things about fiction.

I get to go on many adventures: This goes along with discovering new worlds. But I get to go on so many adventures – through reading. I can read in bed or on the train on the way to work and I can be in a totally different place. It’s so much fun.

Learn new things: Another thing that I love about reading is that I get to learn new things. I don’t know how many times I’ll be reading a book and I learn something new and I had to do my own research on it because I’m so intrigued. This especially happens when I read historical fiction and romances.

Be part of a community: As I said before I love reading because it lets you find others that like reading – and then you can talk about books and reading all you want. I found my best friend through blogging. We’ve been friends for nearly as long as we’ve both been blogging – and we both started blogging because we love reading. If you don’t follow Ely – please do!

Discover new things that I like: Another thing that reading lets me do is find new things that I like. There are so many different books out there. I started really reading mostly only supernatural/fantasy YA – I only read that for years. And now? Now I read romance, adult fantasy, historical romance I have even ventured into adult fiction. I get to try new things all the time.

Let’s Me Relax: While some books are way too intense for me to relax, reading is a great way for me to wind down. I love curling up with a book before I sleep. It calms me down and lets my mind take a break. Reading is a great way to just step away from life and not let my brain think about twenty thousand things at once.

It lets me do something that I love: My love for reading has given me a lot of things the past few years. And one of those is becoming a bookseller. I love reading so much that working in a bookstore was one of my only options. And now? Now I manage a bookstore! It’s the most perfect job and I love it almost as much as I love reading.

Allows for some amazing conversations: This kind of goes with the last reason. Reading allows for some fantastic conversations with customers and other people. I get to talk about things that I love all done long – and you can have some amazing coversations with customers about books that you both love.

And there we go, those are some of the reasons that I love reading. Why do you love reading? Do we share any of the same reasons? Let’s Chat!

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I have a love-hate relationship with this series. But I ended up really enjoying this one. It’s best friends to fake dating to-lovers. It’s always been you, bad-boy/good-girl, and I loved that. While Save Your Breath has quite a few tropes, it really leads itself to it, and it works.

Aleks and Mia have known each other for years now. Since they were teenagers, that angst has been building up this whole time. And you can tell right from the get-go, it’s fantastic. I even wanted more of it, because I love pain. When Aleks went to live with Mia’s family as a teenager, sparks flew, but for many reasons, they both put their feelings aside. And well, now they are not only going to be fake-dating, but they might as well be engaged, too.

I really enjoyed seeing how both Aleks and Mia both tried to hide how they were feeling throughout the whole ‘fake-dating’ situation, but anyone could see it. They know each other as no one else does. Aleks has a lot going on, and while I do think this was brushed over a little too much, Mia is his centre. Mia is a massive music star and is a female in the industry, so yeah, people don’t respect her. Obvsiouly because why couldn’t a female star be badass and write about the things that she has gone through? Aleks and Mia get each other, and that is very clear from the start; they are both just trying to squash everything. We get to see them slowly start to show how they feel, and well, one night it all explodes.

Overall, I enjoyed this one a lot; it’s not my favourite of the series, but I had a great time reading it. I liked Aleks and Mia a lot as characeters and while I think the mental health aspect could have been explored a whole lot more, I can see why it wasn’t. The romance was slow and spicy, the angst was great, and the payoff for these two was what they needed.
