Top Ten Tuesday

Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud

Books That Made Me Laugh Out Loud

Feb 23, 2021

This week I’m sharing the books that made me laugh out loud Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Well firstly, I would like to say sorry for being MIA the last week and a bit. I ended up in the emergency room early last week. Then had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder and some gallstones. Which means I’ve spent the last week recovering. I’ve still got a bit to go, but I’ve finally been able to pick up my laptop. But I’m finally feeling that little bit better.

So for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday I decided to share some of my favourites books that have made me laugh out loud. The books that have had me in giggles and laughing so hard that snort. Like always these are in no order.

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgertons #2) by Julia Quinn: This just got me in so many places. There were times that I just could not stop laughing and it was fantastic. This is also my favourite from the series as well. There are just so many things to love about it.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune: If you are in need of a good laugh, then this book is for you. It’s a heartwarming standalone that just made me laugh so much. It was full of dry humour and things that normally would not be funny. But here, here it worked so well | Review

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: Or anything from Rick Riordan. seriously if you are in need of a series that might tear you apart at times, but will also bring you so much joy – then this series is for you. It’s one that I am always recommending and will continue to.

Check, Please! Book 1: # Hockey (Check, Please! #1-2) by Ngozi Ukazu: This is another one that just got me. It’s an ice hockey romance graphic series and that just screams me. And this book had me laughing out loud.

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston: I don’t think I need to talk too much about this one, but it’s one of those books that combines humour and heartwarming things all into one. If you haven’t read this one yet, I highly recommend you do.

Love in the Afternoon (The Hathaways #5) by Lisa Kleypas: There are times where I just think back to reading this book and laugh because it’s seriously the best thing ever. There are so many moments that I tried to hold in my loud laugh because seriously it was great.

When Dimple Met Rishi (Dimple and Rishi #1) by Sandhya Menon: I nearly forgot about this one. But there are some fantastic moments in this book that had me giggling quite a bit. If you are looking for a sweet romance that will also give you some great laughs, then this is for you.

Man Hands (Man Hands #1) by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby: While I didn’t love this book, it did make me laugh a lot – and I’ve read most of the books in this series and they are just as good. If you are looking for a good rom-com then this series is fantastic.

Ice Planet Barbarians (Ice Planet Barbarians #1) by Ruby Dixon: There are some pretty ridiculous and funny moments in this one right here. I don’t know if it’s meant to come across as funny but I had a blast reading this and the following books.

Never Seduce a Scoundrel (School For Heiresses #1) by Sabrina Jeffries: I had to put this one on the lists because it just made me laugh, smile and have a fantastic time. I think this is one of my favourite Sabrina Jeffries books I’ve read as well.

And that is it for this week! What are the books that have made you laugh out loud? Do we share any that is the same? Let’s Chat!

2021 Romance Books I Already Want To Read

2021 Romance Books I Already Want To Read

Feb 9, 2021

This week I’m sharing the 2021 Romance Books I Already Want To Read. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

Today I thought I would share some of the 2021 romances that I already want to read. I tried to include a range of romances cause that is what I’m reading from historical to fantasy and more. Like always these are in no order.

Wild Rain (Women Who Dare #2) by Beverly Jenkins: This is the second book in the Women Who Dare series. I read Rebel last year and fell in love and this one sounds just as fantastic. It’s high on my most anticipated list that is for sure. I adore the characters that Jenkins writes and the stories that she explores and I can’t wait for more.

A Lady’s Formula for Love (The Secret Scientists of London #1) by Elizabeth Everett: As soon as I read the synopsis for this one I had to add it to my list. While I’m not a massive fan of Victorian historical romances this sounds fantastic. I love HR that really explore and create complex female characters that push boundaries.

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston: Another one that no one should be surprised is on my list. I adored and I mean adored Red, White And Royal Blue. So you bet I’ll be getting this one as soon as possible. It just sounds so damn good and I’m not sure if I’m ready for it. But I will do it.
The Bride Bet (Girl Meets Duke #4) by Tessa Dare: I’ve now read book 3 and I need the next book, but I have no idea when it’s going to come out. If it’s even going to come out this year. Who knows. But I do need it in my life soon.

Much Ado About You by Samantha Young: As soon as I read the synopsis for this one, I knew that I had to add this to my tbr. It just sounds fantastic. It seems like it’s going to be one of those books that I can just sit down, relax and read. And I’m excited about that.

Yes & I Love You (Say Everything #1) by Roni Loren: This is a new edition to my tbr, but I’ve loved the Roni Loren books that I’ve read so far and I’m excited for this one a lot. It just sounds fantastic. General contemporary romance isn’t something that I read a lot of, but it sounds interesting.

The Stray Prince (Royals #2) by Ella Fields: I read A King So Cold last year and really enjoyed it. So when I heard that there was going to be a sequel you know I had to get on it. I’m nervous and excited to read this one. There is just so much that could happen and I don’t know if I am ready.

Bombshell (Hell’s Belles #1) by Sarah MacLean: A new Sarah MacLean? Um yes, please. It’s a best friends siblings historical romance? I mean. what could be better than that? I just cannot wait. And I can’t wait for the cover.

Devil in Disguise (The Ravenels #7) by Lisa Kleypas: I somehow missed that there was going to be a new Lisa Kleypas and yes I am ready for it. It sounds brilliant and fantastic and everything that I need and want. And it’s not too, too far away.

The Duke Heist (The Wild Wynchesters #1) by Erica Ridley: This is another one that I have just heard about recently but gosh does it sounds amazing. Found families is one of my favourite tropes and this just sounds perfect.

And that is it for this weeks Top Ten Tuesday! What are some of the romances books that you can’t wait for this year? Have you read any of these? Let’s Chat!
New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020

New-to-Me Authors I Read in 2020

Jan 26, 2021

This week I’m sharing the new-to-me authors that I read in 2020. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.

I love reading new-to-me authors and there were many that I discovered and read in 2020. So today I thought I would share some of my favourites for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. There is a mix of young adult and romance here. And like always these are in no order.

Also, I want to make a quick note, I knew about most of these author before 2020, it’s just that I never picked a book up from them before.

Giana Darling: I didn’t know much about Giana until earlier this year when I was looking for some more MC romances to pick up. Then I started The Fallen Men Series and couldn’t stop. I haven’t picked up any of her other books yet and I don’t know when I will. But I will read anything in this series.

Naima Simone: I didn’t realise how many Naima Simone books I read this year until I started getting this post together. I ended up reading 6 of her books this year including the WAGS series and Sweetest Taboo duo.

Nalini Singh: I’ve been wanting to read Nalini Singh for a couple of years now, but just never picked it up. However, I took the plunge in 2020 and now I’m 12 books in. Seriously if you want to read some paranormal romances, pick the Psy-Changeling series up and you won’t be disappointed.

Julia Quinn: I started the Bridgertons series about mid-2020 and I ended up reading the whole series, bar the last book last year. I’m hoping to get to book 8 in the next month. I seriously fell in love with this world, her writing and the characters. I can’t wait to pick up something else from Julia as well.

Vikki Wakefield: Has been on my radar for a few years now, I just didn’t pick up any of her books and then I read This is How We Change the Ending and it ends up being one of my favourite reads. I can’t wait to read some more from Vikki. And if you want to read some fantastic #LoveOzYA then this is for you.

Sabrina Jeffries: Sabrina is another author that I have wanted to read for a while, and finally picked up something from her this year – which turned into 6 reads I think. I can’t wait to read more from her. Ely and I are planning to read the first in the School For Heiresses Series for our February Buddy Read.

Sarah MacLean: I couldn’t’ forget about Sarah MacLean. I seriously loved all the books that I read from her last year. I can’t wait to pick up something else for her. But, I just don’t know which series to start with first.

Roni Loren: I’ve been wanting to read The Ones That Got Away series for some time now and I knew that it was going to be an emotional ride so I put it off for a long time, but I started the series this year and it was fantastic and I can’t wait to read some more.

Elizabeth Acevedo: Has a name that I heard of for years. And I picked up a good amount of her books in 2020 and loved them all. I adored With Fire On High and Poet X so much. I’m excited for more from her for sure.

Beverly Jenkins: I didn’t know too much about Beverly Jenkins before I picked up Rebel but now I can’t stop reading. I have read the Le Veq Family series and I’m trying to decide which series to pick up next of hers.I’m just so excited.

And that is it. I read a lot of new-to-me authors in 2020. And I wish I were able to share them all here, but these are just a few that I love. What new-to-you authors did you read last year? Did we share any that is the same? Let’s chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
