Bookmail: I love going to my PO and seeing that I have package waiting for me. I just love the feel of opening a box and books are waiting for me.

bookmail - delights

Reading in Bed: I love curling up in bed, under the blankets and reading. This is the best type of reading for me.
Re-reading Harry Potter: I don’t know how many times I have re-read Harry Potter, but it always the best feeling.

Being with bookish friends: I love having friends that understand me, who love what I love, who I can always talk to about things.

Delights - friends

Bookish friends; Millicent, Ely, Ebony , Lu and Me

Nice Looking Book Self: This hasn’t happened in months for me, because I currently have no room, but I cannot wait to get some new shelves and make it look all pretty.
Making friends when we like the same books: I love, making new friends and when we like the same books, well that is a bonus.

Meeting Authors:
I am awkward and wired but meeting authors is so fun and I normally don’t say that much.

Me and Megan Me and Will

Book Shopping: Do I need to explain?

When people say they will read a book because of my review: This is what I love about writing reviews. I love when people say that my review made them want to read the book.  It’s what I am trying to achieve in writing the review.

Bookish down time: Sometimes I like to do bookish stuff, but not reading or blogging. I love going on tumblr and just looking at all the pretty stuff. You can follow me on tumblr.

Six Books That Will Make You Laugh

Six Books That Will Make You Laugh

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All bloggers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Ten Books That Will Make You Laugh.

So I find this weeks topic quite hard, I don’t read a lot of ‘funny’ books per say. I read books with funny characters, but not many that are funny all round. So for this weeks topic it’s a bit of mash of funny books or books with funny characters.

Laugh 1

Demon Road by Derek Landy: Okay this book had me laugh quite a lot. From situations the characters got themselves into, to the banter between others. If you want something supernatural that is funny – then read this.

Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan: This book had me laughing on the floor.  The chapter titles will make you laugh from the get go and that is just the chapter titles. Just read it.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: Jace enough said. Then you add Simon to the mix and you have banter that makes you want to cry.

laugh 2

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: There are some quite heartbreaking moments through this series, however there are so many times that made me laugh, a lot. The banter between the characters, Rose’s sarcastic remarks. It was a good combination of laughs and cries.

Cress by Marissa Meyer: All I need to say in Captain Thorne. He just cracked me up through the whole book, he released tension and always put a smile on my face.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover: Pranks! Enough said

So that is all I could think of. I think I need to find some more books that are going to make me laugh. What are some of your favourites? Let’s Chat.

Ten Books To Read To Get Into YA

Ten Books To Read To Get Into YA

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All bloggers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten Books For Every X To Read. I picked the X of – people who want to read YA; young adult.

When I first started to read YA, when I was 12/13 it was all to do with Vampires, Werewolves and Angel’s – I was 12 when the first Twilight movie came out so it was when the movement was strong. I have put a list together in different genre for those people who want to read YA and don’t really know where to start.

These are in no order, but to me a good indication on where to start in the big world of YA. Sometimes I have an author instead of a book, because I think any of their books will do.

Books To Read YA1

Contemporary:
John Green: Any books by John Green is a good way to start in contemporary, it’s how I started and I think they are easy to read and understand. I love Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars.

Morgan Matson: She is a newer author to me, even though I have been reading her books for over 2 years. She books with hurt, but they are quite beautiful. Book Review: Since You’ve Been Gone. My review on The Unexpected Everything will be up soon too – hint – I loved it.

Stephanie Perkins: Her books are fluffy, cute and they always out me in the a good mood.

Books To Read YA2

Fantasy
The Winner’s Trilogy by Maire Rutkoski: Okay this is my favourite fantasy trilogy – even though it’s not really fantasy, but it is. It’s all confusing – just read it. The Winner’s Curse | The Winner’s Crime | The Winner’s Kiss

Percy Jackson World: So this again is a little round about on fantasy – however I feel that when trying to get people into fantasy and giving them a big 600 page+ fantasy book with lots of world building would deter them. However, if they start off with the Percy Jackson books, they are on a good start as the books go on the characters get older.

Books To Read YA3

Urban Fantasy
The Mortal Insturments by Cassandra Clare: I know this isn’t the first books in the world, however they are modern-ish, easy to read and both males and females will enjoy it.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: This is how I got into reading YA. There is killing, romance and everything in between.

Books To Read YA4

Science Fiction
Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: A world that isn’t too heavily complicated, with cyborgs and androids, theses books are so fun to read.

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner: This is such a good read for those who like science fiction and space – I cannot wait to read more.

That is this for this week! What would you recommend for people trying to get into YA? Do we share anything the same? Let’s Chat.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
