Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Songs that remind me of books.

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Songs that remind me of books.

Feb 16, 2016

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All bloggers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is a free topic but around the idea of books and music so I choice the topic;  Top ten songs that remind me of books.

There are in particular order, and I have chosen these songs for different reasons. Sometimes it’s the song that reminds of the characters or of the book as whole and somethings it reflects how I felt during or after reading the book.

Maybe Someday by Griffin Peterson – Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover: Okay maybe this is cheating but hey, it does remind me of the book. If you don’t know what I am talking about Colleen Hoover worked with Griffin Peterson to make an album with the songs from the book and it’s perfect. I adore the album and listen to it a lot. If you want to check out the songs you can here. Apart from Maybe Someday, I love I’m in Trouble, Living a Lie and A Little Bit More.

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon – Cress by Marisa Meyer: This represents the relationships in Cress for me. I don’ t know why, but it just fits.

One Call Away by Charlie Puth – The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: This song is kinda of new to me, but when I was thinking about it, it reminds me of the relationships in the Mortal Instruments and it’s perfect. Plus it’s such a nice song.

Stiches by Shawn Menders – Blood Promise by Richelle Mead. This song is this book to me. It reminds me so much of how I felt reading the book the first time and every other time after that.

It Will Rain by Bruno Mars- Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: This is perfect for the romance of this series. It’s beautiful and this song is one in the same.

Ordinary People by John Legend – Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: This is for Noah and Echo, the push they pull, they fight and they love. Plus John Legend is amazing and this song is beautiful.

Breakeven by The Script – The Next Together by Laura James: This song reminds me of the whole book. How they always their way to each other and then lose each other just as quick. When they are together it’s beautiful and when they are not, it all breaks apart.

Bad Blood by Taylor Swift – Summer Skin by Kirsty Eagar: YES, YES and YES. I reminds me of Jess and all the girls against the Knights. Plus I had to put a Tay song into here.

And that is my list done for this week Top Ten Tuesday. I know it’s not 10, but I could not think of any more. What are some songs that remind you of books, do we have the same thoughts? If not what would you say for these books?

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that members at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. All bloggers are then welcomed to join. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is: Top Ten OTP’s

I ship people like crazy. I just want everyone to be happy forever, so this weeks Top Ten was really hard for me. I tried to keep it one couple per book series. If you don’t know what OTP means, it means One True Pairing. Before I start my list, I have to warn you for spoilers; however post of these couples are well-known. These are also in no particular order.

TTT OTP's 1

Oz and Emily from the Thunder Road Series by Katie McGarry. This is one of my most recent OTPs, from last year I might add. But Oz and Emily are so cute together – but I have a feeling that they might be knocked off when Walk the Edge comes out later this year.

Kestrel and Arin from The Winner’ s Curse by Marie Rutkoski. If these two don’t get together by the end of The Winner’s Kiss, I will be very angry. They care about each other so much, and Kestrel would do anything for Aria and just gosh. Please

Katy and Daemon from the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout: These two had my heart from the get go. I adore them together so far and after all they have been through they deserve it.

Rose and Dimitri from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: This is one of my first OTP. Because seriously how can you not?

TTT OTP's 2

Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase from Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. This slow burning romance is perfect. The banter between the two is gorgeous and I love it.

Sydney and Adrian from Bloodlines by Richelle Mead: This couple has given me nightmares. They ran around other so much, all I wanted was for them to be together.

Cinder and Kai from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: I love every single couple of this, If I could add all these couple to my OPT’s list, but I tried to keep it to 1 per series. I love Cinder and Kai – they are adorable together and I want them together forever.

TTT OTP's 3

Noah and Echo from Pushing the Limits Series by Katie McGarry. I love all Katie McGarry’s couple my Noah and Echo are by far my fav from the Pushing the Limits.

Magnus and Alec from The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare: These boys hold my heart. Seriously and the recent Shadowhunter Academy short stories. Yes.

Rachel Watts and James Mycroft from the Every Series by Ellie Marney. These two quick thinkers are adorable. I cannot explain how much I love this couple living in Melbourne.

So here are my OTP’s. I tried to give a mix of older books and newer books. What are your OPT’s? Do we share some?

read rome

Ancient Greece: I love ancient Greece a lot, I really want more YA books to be set there. I got to study ancient Greece as well, so I am always intrigued.

Ancient Rome: Again, same with ancient Greece, I got to study it in school and I love reading about it.

Ancient Egypt: I didn’t get to study Ancient Egypt in school, but I have done research myself and I really enjoy it.

vikings read

1950’s America: I don’t know what it is about this time, but it calls me.

Time of the Vikings – their time span goes for quite a while so whenever really. The vikings are really interesting people and I really enjoy learning about them. I wish there was more set in this time or even more about the vikings in YA.

Time that pagans were at their best: I love what is believed in this time. I find it magical and very interesting. though I don’t want to be around when the christians were there. I would love to read a book set in this time.

fashion read

1864: Those dresses are just so pretty. I want to read about this through a modern YA text.

Europe 1945: I really enjoy reading books that are set during the war, especially during world war II.  I find it really interesting looking at the war from different countries, people and times during the war.

So there it is. It’s not 10, but it’s all I could think of. Do you know any YA books set in these times that you think I might like? Please do recommend.

Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Vict Yeah, this is what I wanted. I really enjoyed Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boys series, and as soon as I heard she was writing a new series, around whiskey and women. Well, hell year. It took me a little bit to get into the book, but after a few chapters, I was hooked.

Wyn is hiding, hiding from everyone, even when she is there. She is hiding behind so much, and damn, I don’t blame her. We don’t know everything from the start, but we start piecing things together, and my heart broke. And I was terrified for her. But she is a Crowne woman, and that means something.

We’ve met Julian before, and while he intrigued me before, I am invested now. He is charming, secretive in the best way and will do anything at this point for Wyn. But he is also lost, and somehow he finds his way to Rumour and back into Wyn’s life.

The romance is hot and steamy and everything that you want. The tension and chemistry in this one is high. Neither Wyn nor Julian wants to really give in or give up on one another, but a lot is standing in their way, honestly, mainly themselves. I just sat there giggling half the time because they are swoon-worthy.

I would say this is the darkest Victoria Wilder book I’ve read, so double-check those trigger warnings before jumping in because there is a lot that happens. And I don’t think it’s going to die down any time soon because these Crowne women are badass, and I know things are only just getting started.

Overall, Rumors & Whiskey is hot and sexual. The tension is dripping off the page, and then you are thrown into the terror and horrors of Rumour. You don’t know what is going to happen next, you don’t know who to trust, and there are so many more secrets that have yet to be revealed. I know I am ready for more. Are you?

Thank you to @atriabooksaus for an earc of Rumors & Whiskey 🥃. I’m in love.

March was a better reading month than February for March was a better reading month than February for me, and while I’m still stuck in my heated rivalry fanfiction era I managed to scrap out of it a little this month.

I reread four books from the sweet omegaverse series and honestly had the best time. I also read two of my most anticipated reads of the year and had a blast. Sadly I did also have my first dnf of the year.

What did you read this March? Any standouts? What are you looking forward to reading in April? Let’s chat!
